Hearing her daughter’s screams, Natasha’s mother, Wendy Martinez, came running outside — and the bloodthirsty attacker fled. “She came home from work, and her body was full of holes,” Wendy Martinez told the New York Daily News. “I was holding her because...

Gov. Cuomo says it would be shameful if Anthony Weiner is elected mayor. Cuomo, during an appearance before the Syracuse Post-Standard's editoral board Wednesday, stayed neutral when asked his thoughts on Weiner entering the race. "He runs? He runs," the paper quotes him as saying in a transcript But asked how he would feel if Weiner (self-pictured at right) were to be elected, Cuomo was blunt. "Shame on us," he replied. Cuomo, a Democrat, has said he has no plans to get involved in the mayor's race. He gave a less definitive answer hours before he spoke to the Syracuse...

This article analyzes the history of labor union violence, and how Rep. Capuano's comments are a perfect continuation of this historical truth. Labor Unions: A History of Murder and Sabotage The New American 28 February 2011 The raging union-led protests in Wisconsin have resulted in many Americans taking a closer, more critical look at labor unions and their political clout and influence in shaping policy. One day after Mort Zuckerman shook up his Daily News by cutting loose the paper’s editor, the deposed leader gave a farewell address to the troops. Kevin Convey, the longtime Boston Herald editor who lasted only 18 months at the ailing News, gave a “short and sweet” farewell address, according to one insider. “It was a weird ending to a weird tenure,” said the insider. At about the same time, the incoming editor, Colin Myler, was boarding a plane in London, according to one report, to jet to his new assignment, which starts Jan. 10. “To the degree we’ve had...

Oral sex could be hazardous to your health. So say researchers who note that oral cancer stemming from the human papilloma virus is more common in the U.S. than oral cancer caused by abusing tobacco. Researchers found a 225% increase in oral cancer cases in the U.S. from 1974 to 2007, mainly among white men, said Maura Gillison, a cancer researcher at Ohio State University. The more oral-sex partners a man had, the greater his cancer risk, Gillison told a meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Tobacco use remains the leading cause of oral cancer in...

EXCERPTS "I'm against tax cuts for the rich too...but this is absolutely over the top to blame this on President Obama," Sharpton told the Daily News. "The goal is to take care of working class people, not to attack the President." (snip) "There will be pushback," Sharpton vowed, likening the attacks to "blaming the ransom" and "not the kidnapper." ...

New York Daily News columnist Josh Greenman must have been in a coma for eight years because he chides President Barack Obama’s “most vocal critics” for being “tone-deaf” and offers these tips:Stop calling Obama a socialist.Stop calling him an empty suit.Stop the gotcha games and gimmicks.Give Obama credit where it's due.Leave Michelle out of it.Ditch the crazy conspiracy theories. Now that Greenman is fully conscious again, it falls to The Stiletto to bring him up to speed on what he missed while he was recovering from whatever unfortunate mishap that made him unaware of what George W. Bush’s “most vocal critics” were...

First Patrick Caprice, then Christopher Wiesneski, then Patrick O'Boyle and Erik Hansen, then Dominick Romano and David Harris, then Wiener Philippe, then Dillon Stewart, then Mark Ennis and Peter Verdesi, and now Daniel Enchautegui. The blood of police officers is running ever faster on New York City's streets. Since June, two cops have been shot and killed and nine cops have been shot and wounded in the line of duty. We have paid tribute. We have mourned. And, to our shame, we have moved on. But not this time. This time there's no moving on without tough action. Too many...

Isn't it amazing to watch one liberal after another, lining up to take on conservative talk radio, even as the latest "progressive" offerings are busy falling apart? There's something about a mindset that can really believe, despite any experience hosting talk shows, they can do what all the other liberals couldn't. Reverend Al Sharpton's the latest to take the plunge, with immediate questions about his viability, or real future prospects

The release of the six-month circulation figures for U.S. daily newspapers showed big declines at Tribune Co.'s Los Angeles Times and Chicago Tribune. The newspaper industry's twice-yearly circulation report showed modest circulation declines at many dailies, continuing a two-decade-long trend. The latest report, released by the Audit Bureau of Circulations, is being studied especially closely by advertisers and Wall Street. It marks the first industry circulation data since several major newspapers reported overstatements this year, beginning with scandals in June at Tribune's Newsday and Spanish-language Hoy. Subsequently, Hollinger International Inc.'s Chicago Sun-Times and Belo Corp.'s Dallas Morning News also admitted...

In my previous column on pro-Al Qaeda rapper KRS-One (Kris Parker; hereafter, “KOP”), I cited the Daily News story from “Rush & Molloy’s” gossip column (the husband-and-wife team of George Rush and Joanna Molloy) that quoted him as having “cheered” when Al Qaeda attacked America and murdered 3,000 people on 911, liberally quoted from KOP’s rap/Hip-Hop (r/h) “songs,” and discussed r/h’s ties to black supremacist movements such as the Nation of Islam, the Five Percenters, and the New Black Panther party. Rap’s Treasonous Roots The longtime leader of the Nation of Islam, “the Honorable Elijah Muhammad” (Elijah Poole; 1897-1975), spent...

“The news for New York City is spectacular," New York’s Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg told a City Hall press conference on May 24. He and New York Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly [Email him] were claiming credit for new FBI crime stats showing major crimes—murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, car theft, larceny and arson—dropping 5.8% in the city in 2003. New York’s crime rate now ranks it 211th of the 230 U.S. cities with 100,000-plus population—behind Omaha, Nebraska and Wichita, Kansas. Unfortunately, there must have been at least one skeptic at the press conference. Hizzoner reportedly “bristled” at suggestions that...

The New York Times is not pleased with New York City Mayor Michael ("Mayor Mike") Bloomberg. In a March 11 house editorial, "Mayor Bloomberg's Commitment Issue," the newspaper in so many words demanded that Bloomberg embrace same-sex marriage, and begin personally officiating at same-sex weddings in the mayoral residence of Grace Mansion, forthwith. Or else. "He doesn't officiate at weddings at Gracie Mansion, a previously time-honored tradition for mayors of New York. And it seems that he has a problem committing on the issue of gay marriage. "In the month or so since performing same-sex marriages became a point of...
