I’m hearing some breaking news down in Virginia’s Seventh District. Eric Cantor is planning to resign his seat and take over the helm at the hawkish immigration group, Numbers USA. Take a look at this door hanger from the Cantor campaign, which was distributed to Republican voters in his district, and that is the only conclusion one can draw from its content. Looking at this mailer, the only observation the reader can make is that Cantor is joining the immigration hawks. After all, he would never lie to us, would he? First, when was the last time Cantor or anyone...

The scent of limes in the air, Papa Pitufo shouted orders to his men and consulted by cellphone with his far-flung forces. The gray-bearded farmer has emerged as the senior leader of the vigilante movement that has taken over a large swath of wealthy Michoacan state, one of the world's top producers of avocados and limes but dominated for nearly a decade by ruthless drug cartels. For the first time in modern Mexican history, an armed civilian band has ejected a drug cartel from its environs. For now, members of the so-called Knights Templar are lying low, challenged by rebelling...

In a disturbing display of modern media, a number of people on Twitter, Facebook, and internet forums have lamented the fact that Elliot Rodger went on a killing spree. This is not because of the people he killed, but because he was "hot." Instead of focusing on the victims, these users talk about the attractiveness of a killer. Here is a brief compilation: "<3:" "Good looking guy:" "Quite handsome:" "Hello:"

In his lengthy and demented manifesto, Elliot Rodger, the alleged Isla Vista gunman, wrote that his political leanings were fascistic and that he wanted desperately to be considered "a god" to those he intended to kill. Though much of his ramblings stay away from officially declaring a political affiliation, in one passage Rodger specifically talks about political discussions with one of his "friends," Addison Altendorf. According to the manifesto, Rodger frequently talked to Addison, who shared many beliefs with him. In one passage, Rodger comments (emphasis mine): I talked to Addison about my old political views, debating with him about...

  • Muslims Crucify Two Christian Teenagers For Refusing To Convert To Islam

Muslims in Syria crucified two Christian teenagers for refusing to convert to Islam. The story was reported on a Croatian Catholic website. According to Sister Raghida, former head of the Christian school in Damascus, the Muslims came to the two youths and said: So you want to die as a teacher in whom you trust? Please choose: either to renounce ( faith ) or you will be crucified! One of them was crucified in front of his father, who was afterwards killed. The jihadists entered the city of Maaloula and started killing men, women, and children. They did not just...

In a changing world, it’s good to know that some things don’t change … like the ability of this White House to vet it Cabinet-level appointments. Barack Obama named Julian Castro as the new Secretary of Housing and Urban Development last week, but no one checked with the Inspector General at HUD first. Late yesterday, Politico also named Castro as a subject of criticism in a 2012 IG report that alleged San Antonio misused HUD funds while Castro was mayor: San Antonio failed to properly spend funds approved by Congress to combat the housing crisis while President Barack Obama’s expected...

If Matt Drudge was going for mystery, he hit it. The world-known Web news headliner has cleaned his Twitter account of all tweets and posts — except for a single, solitary message that strikes a somewhat ominous tone. “In this manic Digital Age … It’s vital … To clear your mind … Constantly,” he tweeted. But that’s the only message that remains on his account. And he subsequently changed his profile background picture of a parrot pecking at another parrot.

So, I think it is safe to say that if you are deathly afraid of clowns, like a few people I know, this is certainly not going to help things in any way, shape, or form. There is a new video making its way around the internet the shows a creepy killer clown making his way around the city brutally “murdering” people in front of seemingly innocent bystanders. In the video, the clown, complete with circus-like oversized mallet and everything, is hiding behind a wall in a parking garage. When two men come walking down the stairs, they see what...
  • Segregation is making a comeback in U.S. schools.

In New York, California and Texas, more than half of Latino students are enrolled in schools that are 90 percent minority or more, the report found. In New York, Illinois, Maryland and Michigan, more than half of black students attend schools where 90 percent or more are minority. Project co-director Gary Orfield, author of the "Brown at 60" report, said the changes are troubling because they show some minority students receive poorer educations than white students and Asian students, who tend to be in middle-class schools. The report urged, among other things, deeper research into housing segregation, which is a...

Parents are outraged after a nurse at a Phillipines hospital reportedly taped their baby's mouth shut because it cried 'too loudly.' Ryan Noval and Jasmine Badocdoc found their son Yohannes Noval's lips taped shut as he slept - and when they asked a nurse about it, were told it was because 'the baby was crying too loudly and was always asking for milk,' Sun.Star Cebu says. Badocdoc, the paper says, asked the nurse to take the tape off her son's mouth - and was allegedly told to do it herself. When the nurse removed the tape, Yohannes cried when 'a...

ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) – Facebook and other social media websites help billions of people express themselves for the world to see, but these online platforms have now taken on a deeper meaning – people are using it to define themselves. New research published in the journal Social Influence analyzes how Facebook communication has affected people’s feelings of their own social value and self-esteem. The study finds that the more Facebook likes and comments that a person receives, the more likely they are to feel positive about themselves. On the other hand, the fewer likes and comments responding to a person’s...
  • Police: Pa. Woman Beat Child With Baseball Bat Over Clogged Toilet

LEHIGHTON, Pa. (AP) – A northeastern Pennsylvania woman is behind bars after police said she beat her child with a baseball bat because of a clogged toilet. Police say Christine Mertz from Mahoning Township hit the 15-year-old child twice on the right side with a baseball bat and had also twice bitten and punched the juvenile. The child’s age and gender have not been released. Police said the child’s sibling witnessed the April 27 assault and said it was because of a backed-up toilet.

The Conservative oriented website dedicated to aggregating news from around the world-wide-interwebs, Weasel Zippers, has just lost its primary funding source because… Well… It’s kinda hard to say. According to the site, Google AdSense (an add generator produced by the infamously liberal corporation in Silicon Valley) has cancelled its agreement with the website because of apparent violations to their terms of use. According to Google, the conservative news site has failed to produce an adequate amount of “original content” to continue utilizing the internet advertising tool provided by Google. Of course, the claim seems mildly curious given the fact...
