ISLAMABAD (Xinhua) -- The Northern Alliance fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan has claimed responsibility for the bomb attacks in Kabul during wee hours on Wednesday, said a report from Kabul. According to earlier report, after explosions rocked Kabul at about 2:30 a.m., White House officials in the U.S. denied ordering attack on Afghanistan following destruction of the World Trade Center towers by hijacked planes. New York, Sept. 11 (Bloomberg) -- Morgan Stanley Dean Witter & Co. was the largest tenant in New York's World Trade Center, which was hit by two airplanes in a terrorist attack, causing explosions and collapse of the 110-story, twin tower complex. Morgan Stanley occupied 12.5 percent of the space in tower 2, followed by the 10-million square foot complexes' owner, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which occupied 9 percent of the space. Other large tenants include AON Corp., Empire Blue Cross and Blue Shield and Marsh & McLennan Cos. As many as 200,000 people passed ...

I am very concerned that we are not seeing any interviews with people who were in the Twin Towers but got out. Makes me think really not many did - you would think that those people would be all over the news talking about watching the plane hit their building etc. I am very afraid the numbers may be 30-40 thousand.

NEW YORK -- A Canadian woman died during testing of the abortion pill, and enrollment in the study has been temporarily suspended, the Population Council reported. The organization, which has the U.S. rights to the abortion pill, mifepristone, said in a statement Monday that the death has been reported to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and Canadian authorities. The FDA approved the abortion pill for use in the United States a year ago; it has not been approved in Canada. The Population Council, a nonprofit organization that promotes reproductive research, said initial reports indicated that the cause of death ...

I can now understand why Japanese-Americans were rounded up and put in camps during WWII. I want to hit back at someone, and that takes me to any person from an Islamic culture who I can see. I know better. But that's still my reaction. We've not been their friend. We've generally been the friend of the Israelis. I can see why they would hate us. They're out celebtating in the streets over this. Passing out candy. My knee-jerk reaction to to kill them all. To exterminate every Arab from the face of the earth. I realize that's not sane. ...

Perhaps not the biggest news of the day, but it is interesting that you can hear jets flying over Los Angeles. Since all the commercial flights and I presume the private jets as well are grounded these jets must be military.Has anyone else in the Los Angeles area noticed this?

I have been unable to find a source on the net, but CNN reported earlier that David Angell, executive producer for the TV show Frasier was on board the Boston to LA flight that crashed into the WTC.

DUSHANBE, Apr 9 (Reuters) - Ahmad Shah Masood, commander of the armed resistance to Afghanistan's ruling Taliban movement, arrived in Tajikistan on Monday after what he described as a successful mission to the West. On his arrival in the capital Dushanbe, Masood was given a hero's welcome by hundreds of compatriots, who applauded and held up pictures of him. "I had a lot of useful contacts during my visit to France," Masood, kept behind a tight chain of bodyguards, told reporters in Dushanbe airport on his arrival from Paris. "I am very satisfied with my trip." Masood, whose forces of ...

Attention Free Republic!Wake up to the real truth here. This is the anniversary of the signing of the Oslo peace Accords. Bin Laden threatened, via CNN to do EXACTLY this kind of thing and on this EXACT DAY!!!! Bill Clinton spent his years in office dismantling our intelligence and military. He set it up so that something like this would not only be possible but probable. Now we see who Bill Clinton and his Oxford buddy, Bin Laden truly are. Oddly enough, Clinton has just returned from an overseas jaunt. How many times do you have to see the acts ...

I predict that the WTC will be rebuilt and that they will not stop at 110 floors but will erect the towers so that they are the tallest (for the time being) buildings on the planet. This would be the ultimate statement to those Arab bastards. The WTC and I go way back to the 70's. I remember when they were under construction and there were rags hanging from the building with some unions logo. I remember taking dates to Windows on the World to impress. They had a wonderful wine list but it was held for ransom, the price ...

ABC described that cell calls from the planes described only knives, no guns mentioned. Jennings and company at ABC described the three different planes from which calls came and they said only that knives were used, not guns. One of the calls said the hijackers were using boxcutter knives. Earlier today, I heard ABC mention plastic knives but haven't heard any more on that rumor again.

A poster theorized that the hijackers who brought down that plane which crashed in SW PA may have wanted to slam it into the Bessie Point nuclear plant.Where is it? Inquiring minds want to know.foreverfree

While researching the web for information on the World Trade Center, I came across this little nugget: Blowback: The WTC Bombing ... in Afghanistan, the United States also helped bring to power the Taliban, a fundamentalist Islamic movement. A group of these mujahideen, who only a few years earlier the United States had armed with ground-to-air Stinger missiles, grew bitter over American acts and policies in the Gulf War and vis-à-vis Israel. In 1993, they bombed the World Trade Center and assassinated several CIA employees as they waited at a traffic light in Langley, Virginia. Four years later, on November ...

200 New York City firefighters are missing and presumed dead tonight along with 78 city police, who were apparently trapped as the two gigantic World Trade Center Towers collapsed in the world's worst terrorist attack ever. Also presumed dead: three of the city fire department's top brass, one senior NYPD official and several top officials with the Port Authority, which ran the World Trade Center. Thousands of bodies remained buried Tuesday night in rubble that in some areas reaches five stories high. By 10 p.m., three thousand known casualities had been evacuated to area hospitals and rescue centers. Estmates of ...

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (AP) -- Garnet ``Ace'' Bailey, director of pro scouting for the Los Angeles Kings, was one of 65 passengers aboard one of the flights that crashed into the World Trade Center on Tuesday. Team spokesman Mike Altieri said Mark Bavis, an amateur scout for the Kings, also was aboard United Airlines Flight 175 -- the second plane to hit the skyscrapers in New York. The Boeing 767 was scheduled to fly from Boston to Los Angeles, where the Kings open training camp Wednesday. ``We've received confirmation from both of their families that they were on Flight 175,'' ...

SPECIAL EDITION: Today is undoubtedly the most difficult and emotional day that President Bush has faced so far in his Presidency. No one will ever forget this day, as it will leave a permanent scar on our hearts and in our minds. Yet, President Bush spoke eloquently this evening about the steely resolve of the people of the United States and how the terrorists severely under estimated how our country would react. Nothing unites a country like a common enemy. And politics aside, all Americans are surely united in their resolve to find justice for these attacks. God bless President ...
