Berlin (dpa) - The southern German state of Bavaria pleaded for aid from the rest of the country Tuesday as it became the latest beachhead in the epic arrival of African and Middle Eastern migrants in Europe. Trains full of migrants who have made it to Greece and then through Eastern Europe on the so-called Balkan Route have begun arriving in Germany - the country many of them wanted to reach in the first place. Even though the arrivals had been expected and Germany has committed itself to taking in 800,000 migrants this year, the arrival has still come as...

U.S. Ambassador Brett McGurk said that 17,000 Syrian refugees have applied to enter the U.S. and that the nation will likely take in “more” of them next year. “We took in about 1,500 last year. We think we’ll take in more next year,” McGurk, who serves as the deputy special presidential envoy for the Global Coalition to Counter ISIL, said Sunday on Meet the Press with Chuck Todd. McGurk’s comments came in response to Todd’s question about whether the U.S. would increase the number of refugees it takes in from Syria. “The United States takes in more refugees than any...

Jeb Bush launched his first video attack against Donald Trump on Tuesday, bashing him for his past support of “liberal” issues and even for living in Manhattan. Bush finally got off the canvas after weeks of relentless battering by the real estate mogul, who has soared to the top of the GOP presidential polls. In an 81-second video hit titled “The Real Donald Trump,” Bush highlighted Trump’s praise for Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton and one-time support for a laundry list of favorite liberal causes. The former Florida governor sewed together a string of old news clips that included: During an...

New documentation shows Colorado State University (CSU) signed a five-year contract with the local Planned Parenthood abortion business to purchase the body parts of aborted babies. In 2013, CSU purchased fetal body parts from Planned Parenthood’s flagship abortion facility in San Jose, California via a company called Stem Express. In total, nine specimens were harvested from eight different aborted babies killed in abortions at that Planned Parenthood clinic and the purchase order reveals CSU bought two body parts, including an aborted baby’s liver. This came to light after the Center for Medical Research (CMP) released a video of Planned Parenthood’s...

BUDAPEST — The Keleti train station in Budapest, which has emerged as ground zero in Europe’s spiraling migration crisis, cut off service to migrants on Tuesday as European countries remained bitterly divided and confused over how to handle the thousands trekking northward. As migrants were greeted early Tuesday by an announcement that the station was “shut down for departure and arrivals for an indefinite time” and told to leave, thousands of others were pouring into stations at the preferred destination for many of the migrants, Germany, and being greeted with promises of accommodations and legalized status. The contrasting scenes in...

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConell says the Senate will vote a second time to attempt to de-fund the Planned Parenthood abortion business which has been caught in a series of videos selling aborted babies and their body parts. The news comes after reports that the House of Representatives is planning a vote on legislation in a couple weeks that would de-fund the Planned Parenthood abortion business. The two votes would follow one the Senate had weeks ago, which saw Senate Democrats filibuster and block legislation to revoke $550 million in taxpayer funding. While McConnell says the senate will hold another...

The cold-blooded murder of a Houston-area sheriff’s deputy raises the question anew.Who gets believed, in our age of ever-present media, is who talks the loudest. Donald Trump, for example. Then there’s the Black Lives Matter movement, with its clamorous dedication to the idea that white racism is behind the killing of black men around the country, nothing else — not circumstance, not misjudgment, not fear — just out-and-out racism, end of discussion, period, shut up. Accordingly, Harris County Sheriff Ron Hickman’s morally incontestable claim — “all lives matter” — isn’t getting much traction with those committed to the Black...

Italy’s simmering anti-immigrant sentiment has been stoked by the murder of an elderly couple in their home in Sicily, allegedly by an African asylum seeker. Mamadou Kamara, an 18-year-old from the Ivory Coast, allegedly slit the throat of Vincenzo Solano, 68, and then attacked his Spanish-born wife, Mercedes Ibanez, 70. Ms Ibanez fell to her death from a second-floor balcony, during a robbery that turned violent. Mr Kamara is one of thousands of migrants and refugees living at a vast reception centre at nearby Mineo, in south-eastern Sicily. They are accommodated there after arriving by boat from Libya, and wait...

The state of Louisiana is in court fighting for its right to de-fund the Planned Parenthood abortion business after it was caught selling aborted babies and their body parts. But the Obama administration thinks differently. The Planned Parenthood abortion business has filed a lawsuit against the state of Louisiana after Governor Bobby Jindal made the decision to yank its taxpayer funding. Today, in court papers filed the same day a 9th video showed the abortion company selling aborted babies, the Obama administration sided with Planned Parenthood in the lawsuit. AP has more on the Obama administration’s reaction today: The U.S....

A new poll in early battleground Iowa has former brain surgeon Ben Carson surging into a tie with Donald Trump for the first time in the GOP presidential contest — a stunning jump for a political novice who is the latest outsider to shake up the race. Trump and Carson, who came to prominence when he laced into President Obama at a televised prayer breakfast in 2013 as the president looked on, each got 23 percent in the Monmouth University poll released Monday. Former Hewlett-Packard executive Carly Fiorina — another outsider who has never held elective office — is third...

Mr. O’Keefe’s team — which he billed as an investigative SEAL Team Six — fired an opening salvo on Tuesday by calling a news conference at the National Press Club in Washington to reveal a purported violation of campaign finance laws by Hillary Rodham Clinton’s staff members. In a five-minute video compilation, Veritas showed senior members of Mrs. Clinton’s team appearing to accept a donation from a Canadian women at Mrs. Clinton’s campaign announcement rally in exchange for hats and pins bearing the candidate’s name. The staff members — Molly Barker and Erin Tibe — express awareness that they cannot...

Myles UdlandSeptember 1, 2015It was an ugly day for the markets, as each of the major US indexes dropped nearly 3% to start September, which is traditionally the weakest month of the year for the stock market. Oil got slammed on Tuesday, falling 8% with West Texas Intermdiate crude prices falling back near $45 a barrel after a 30% run-up in just 3 days saw WTI erase most all of its August losses. Stocks started the day deep in the red and the selling pressure hardly relented at all into the closing, sending stocks out on their lows for the...

It must be the first day of September. Summer vacation is over. The kids are heading back to school. So now it’s time to get serious. It’s time to hit Donald Trump with negative ads. That seems to be the thinking in the Jeb Bush camp, which is out with this new Web ad: http://www.washingtonpost.com/posttv/politics/jeb-bush-the-real-donald-trump--campaign-2016/2015/09/01/ed750bea-50b0-11e5-b225-90edbd49f362_video.html

Fifteen people were arrested this month in Spain for smuggling Moroccan migrants into the country on water scooters, authorities said on Saturday, terming it a "very dangerous practice." The revelation came as Europe's migrant crisis snowballed with Austrian police rescuing a group of dehydrated migrants found in a truck, days after the bodies of 71 migrants, believed to be Syrian, were found in an abandoned former poultry lorry. "In August, 15 people were arrested for bringing Moroccan migrants to Spanish shores," the Guardia Civil, a paramilitary police force, said in a statement without specifying the nationality of those held. It’s over. Hillary Clinton is not going to be the next President of the United States. It’s not because she demanded skim milk for her tea, though any discerning tea-drinker would always insist on at least semi-skim. It’s not because she couldn’t work out how to watch ‘Parks and Recreation’ or ‘The Good Wife’ on catch-up TV, though coupled with her general apparent ignorance of all new technology this does little to negate the nagging sense that she’s simply too old for the top job in America. It’s not because her aides sometimes go 100 hours without sleep, though this...

There comes a time in every person’s life where they have to decide what they stand for and what they believe in. What is the line that you just won’t cross, no matter the consequence? Many people never consider that question until they are forced to. For Christians, it is an easy choice. They answer to a higher power than the government or the courts. For Kim Davis, that day came a while back when she was asked to issue marriage licenses for gay couples. The Supreme Court just recently trashed the Constitution and in a move that violated First...

A review of recently released e-mails shows that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton repeatedly originated and distributed highly classified national security information. Clinton’s classified e-mail missives were not constrained to State Department staff, either. She also sent classified information to Sidney Blumenthal, a former Clinton White House operative banned by the Obama White House. An analysis by The Federalist of e-mails released by the State Department late Monday shows that scores of e-mails sent by Clinton contained highly confidential national security information from the beginning, even if they weren’t marked by a classification authority until later. The original date of...
