Neil Diamond says he’s only recently learned to accept his Parkinson’s disease. His diagnosis in 2018 prompted an immediate cancellation of a planned tour, and the announcement that no more road trips would take place. He’s performed briefly on a handful of occasions since then, but in a new interview with CBS Sunday Morning to be aired tomorrow (April 2), he explained he’d been in denial for at least two years. “I don't like it,” Diamond, 82, said. “But… this is me; this is what I have to accept. And I’m willing to do it. And, okay, so this is...

For decades, scientists thought that the Clovis hunters were the first to cross the Arctic to America. They were wrong — and now they need a better theory The mastodon was old, its teeth worn to nubs. It was perfect prey for a band of hunters, wielding spears tipped with needle-sharp points made from bone. Sensing an easy target, they closed in for the kill. Almost 14,000 years later, there is no way to tell how many hits it took to bring the beast to the ground near the coast of present-day Washington state. But at least one struck home,...

Red Red Wine was a massive hit for reggae group UB40 in the UK and the US in the 80s. The British band had heard Tony Tribe’s 1969 Trojan single and there is a story, possibly apocryphal, that they assumed the N. Diamond accredited on Tribe’s record as the composer was the name of some obscure Jamaican Rastafarian contemporary of Bob Marley. Only when their version took off did they realise the song was originally a smooth, sad ballad of lost love penned by pop singer/songwriter extraordinaire Neil Diamond who’d had a modest Billboard hit with it in 1968……

Bosnia and Herzegovina officials want Basic returned to that country to stand trial Eyewitnesses Radojica Garic and Dragan Kovacevic said Basic murdered Blagoje Djuras, who had been beaten to unconsciousness by Croatian police and soldiers, by slitting his throat with a knife, according to a court document....

After a subpar performance Monday night in Value City Arena, Neil Diamond yesterday apologized and offered refunds to the 11,000 people who attended the concert. "Dear Fans in Columbus," the singer said in a statement, "I haven't let you down before, and I won't let you down now. Until you hear from me again remember, You are the sun. I am the moon. You are the words. I am the tune. Forgive me. I love you. Neil." Diamond, whose voice was extremely hoarse throughout the show, said yesterday that he is suffering from acute laryngitis. Ordered by doctors to rest...

LOS ANGELES - Neil Diamond held onto the secret for decades, but he has finally revealed that President Kennedy's daughter was the inspiration for his smash hit "Sweet Caroline." "I've never discussed it with anybody before — intentionally," the 66-year-old singer-songwriter told The Associated Press on Monday during a break from recording. "I thought maybe I would tell it to Caroline when I met her someday." He got his chance last week when he performed the song via satellite at Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg's 50th birthday party. Diamond was a "young, broke songwriter" when a photo of the president's daughter in...

Just got back from Neil Diamonds concert at staples center in Los Angeles. AMAZING show. His voice is stronger than it was in the 80's ( maybe he quit smoking) He played 95% old stuff. I was amazed. If you get a chance to go it is worth it. Show up and see if you can get tickets after the show starts if you cant afford the ticket cost. I have seen him 3 x's starting in 1982 and I would say he is just as strong of a performer now as he was 25 years ago. Just my opinion,...

My wife and I went to the Neil Diamond concert the other night at the MCI Center in Washington, DC. There were about 18,000 people there and he puts on a great show. Did over two hours of songs with no intermission. Not bad for a guy in his 60's. He brings in a fantastic cross section of people. People from their teens to their 60's; white, black, Chinese, Indian, etc. My wife and I saw him for the first time in 2001. It was about a week after 9/11 and we did not know if they would still have...

John Kerry raised about $5 million for his campaign at a couple of events in Los Angeles on Thursday night, the second of which featured performances by Barbra Streisand, Neil Diamond, Billy Crystal and Willie Nelson. Amongst those who contributed in order to attend: Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Affleck, Jamie Foxx, Ben Stiller and Robert DeNiro. Crystal "joked" about President Bush, according to multiple media accounts, "I realize that 9/11 is also his SAT scores." The New York Times touted how "the much-heralded highlight was the Barbra Streisand-Neil Diamond reunion duet, 'You Don't Bring Me Flowers,' which they had not performed...

There's only so many times you can listen to Forever in Blue Jeans, Song Sung Blue and September Morn before you lose your mind. That's what happened to Panthers Associate Equipment Manager Scott Tinkler on the morning of Feb. 21 at the Spectrum in Philadelphia. Maybe having heard one too many Neil Diamond songs, Tinkler was at his wit's end with the Panthers' wretched CD collection. It only boiled over when the Flyers' equipment assistant started making fun of it ...
