Before World War II, Depression-era Americans wanted their Hollywood male leads to be suave and sophisticated, whether they were in dramatic or humorous roles. After World War II, however, Americans craved authentic men on the screen — and in Kirk Douglas, they got a movie star so authentic, so searing, that even today Douglas is still a cultural touchpoint. Issur Danielovitch Demsky, better known as Kirk Douglas, was born into poverty on December 9, 1916, in Amsterdam, New York. He died on February 5, 2020, at age 103, in Beverly Hills, California, not only wealthy, but also one of the...

The gunman who shot and killed Davis Police Officer Natalie Corona Thursday night has been identified as Kevin Douglas Limbaugh, a 48-year-old man who was ordered last fall to surrender a semiautomatic rifle after he was convicted in a battery case. Yolo County Superior Court records show Limbaugh was charged in September with battery with serious bodily injury, a incident that a source said stemmed from him punching a co-worker at Cache Creek Casino in the face after a dispute. The case was resolved as a misdemeanor conviction, and California Department of Justice records show he agreed to surrender a...

Natalie Holloway murder suspect, Joran van der Sloot, has been ominously quiet for quite a while. That's not surprising since he's been languishing in Peru's Miguel Castro Castro prison since June awaiting the completion of the investigation of Stephany Flores's murder. On January 15th however, Van der Sloot suddenly decided to lunge back into the headlines by stabbing a guard and then attempting to hold him hostage in a crazy, and therefore unsuccessful attempt to break out of prison. According to the National Enquirer, Van der Sloot suddenly "freaked out" when guard, Luis Gavancho, brought a tray of food into...

And last month, Gulbis helped the U.S. team win its first Solheim Cup on foreign soil. We caught up with Natalie in Central Park and she shared some interesting stories including how she played against Tiger Woods, her favorite John Daly story, and that average guys have a shot at dating her.

Dutch police have arrested a new suspect in last year's disappearance of Natalee Holloway in Aruba, the Netherlands' national broadcaster reported Sunday. NOS said police in Utrecht had arrested the suspect, but it was unclear where and when. The new suspect was said to be of Aruban nationality and an acquaintance of Joran van der Sloot, another suspect in the case. Holloway, of Mountain Brook, Ala., was 18 when she disappeared in May 2005 during a high school graduation trip to the Dutch Caribbean island with classmates. She was last seen leaving a bar with three young men on May...

Disappointing airplay for the first two singles from the new album by the Dixie Chicks exposes a deep -- and seemingly growing -- rift between the trio and the country radio market that helped turn the group into superstars. "Taking the Long Way," due out May 23, is the band's first album since singer Natalie Maines sparked a major controversy in 2003 by declaring that she was ashamed to hail from the same state as fellow Texan President George W. Bush. Radio boycotts ensued, and many fans abandoned the band. The first single, "Not Ready to Make Nice," peaked at...

Deputy police chief Gerald Dompig told CBS in an interview to be broadcast at the weekend that a new witness has come forward with credible information about where Holloway's body is buried. Dompig told CBS the information is "too specific to just be a story that was just made up by someone". It has prompted investigators to organise a search in sand dunes along the northern tip of the island. Police searched this area last year but found...

ORANJESTAD, Aruba (AP) - All three men jailed in the disappearance of an Alabama teenager three months ago will go free Saturday, according to a judge's order - a development legal observers on Aruba said shows the government had no case. The case has drawn widespread U.S. media attention, with negative reports critical of the investigation leading residents of this relatively crime-free Dutch Caribbean island to fear for their tourism industry and protest they are being unfairly targeted. Many point out that there is not one Aruban connected to the disappearance: those jailed are a Dutch teenager and two Surinamese...

I've HAD it with this non-stop Aruba coverage on The Hannity and Colmes show. I used to search through (teevoooo) any H and C episode to get past the Aruba coverage. But, then, Aruba for 2, 3, 4 SEGMENTS?!? They may as well change the name from Hannity and Colmes to NATALIE AND COLMES. I finally deleted the program from the auto-record, and it's been weeks since I've watched the program. I ask you all to do the same to pressure these guys into a more balanced, reasonable program. So, HONK if you're sick of the NATALIE and COLMES show!...
