Lana Wood on CNN: `I don't think Natalie fell'

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Natalie Wood's sister says she doesn't believe the actress fell from a boat into the sea off Southern California's Santa Catalina Island where she drowned nearly 30 years ago.

Lana Wood tells CNN's Piers Morgan in an interview Friday that she has spoken several times with the boat's captain Dennis Davern and he has told her that Natalie Wood's husband Robert Wagner was involved in her plunge into the sea on Nov. 29, 1981.

Maybe they found out that Robert Wagner was a closet Republican.

I always thought it was odd that Wagner starred in at least two movies as a greedy playboy who killed his girlfriend. Just sayin’.

Should be a two week distraction from any real news being reported.

They have a book out. These stories are aways suspect when the accusers change their minds for money. I am not sure one way or the other if Robert Wagner did this or not, but the timing of this is suspect at best. And if I was the DA, I would bring up charges on the Captain for lying and obstruction of justice (?). Anyway I think this is just for MONEY.

Almost nothing is worse that trying to prevent someone you love who is drunk from doing something stupid, and having failed, recogninzing later that failure resulted in a loved one’s death.

We don’t know what happened. But it is well known Robert Wagner loved Natalie Wood very deeply. The autopsy showed she was inebriated when she drowned. The whole situation is tragic.

Yes. It adds another level to your grief.

I thought her sister earlier said that she was sure her sister drank way to much and fell over?

As I said in my other post, the then Los Angeles County Coroner Thomas Naguchi had doubts about the cause of death of Natalie Wood and was doing an investigation. This did not sit well with the politicians and Hollywood bigwigs at the time for some reason and they got him removed from office. The “new” coroner then announced the death as “accidental”.

So, if I was re-opening an investigation into her death I would want to ask question of the people from the Los Angeles Coroners Office at the time who were involved in the investigation and would want to know the reason behind those doubts. Maybe Thomas Naguchi is still alive. He may well have been right in thinking something was wrong.

I read today that the autopsy also showed considerable bruising on her arms and face. Still, one has to wonder why this long for the boat captain to come forward. Kind of sounds like he wants some money for something doesn’t it?

This was a big deal at the time it happened too. News reports indicated that there was some bizarre and drug fueled drama on board between Wagner, Natalie and Walken.

After all, the only ones who know the truth were the three of them. And then there were two, neither of whom is talking.

Wood’s death was suspicious from the get-go. She was (by all accounts) terrified of the water. The account of her going out to ‘still’ a dingy does not pass the credibilty test yet, her death was ruled as accidental. Now...more information is released that states she was bruised; had a bruise/scrap on her cheek etc..

Never bought the official statement in ‘81 and will be anxious to see what comes of this.

Wagner didn’t take too much time ‘grieving’ before he married St. John.

All of it stinks...I just hope after 30 years, they really can shed more light on this tragedy.
