Besides the recommendations in the NAFBPO report Congress should implement the following provisions to address the impacts of guest worker programs to unemployed Americans and “level the playing field” between American workers and foreigners: Require an employer to demonstrate there is no qualified American citizen for a job before recruiting for or hiring a foreign worker. Require all employers to use E-verify to document legal employment status (work visa, permanent resident status, citizenship). Require the employer to pay state minimum wage and implement a means for verifying that this wage is being paid. Require the employer to write a letter...

NAFBPO rejects the President's proposal out of hand. It is unacceptable in that it contains not so much as a nod to immigration enforcement or a secure border. It is predicated upon administration claims that the border is secure now, or at least, secure enough. That claim is at best wishful thinking but is more likely willful misdirection of the public's opinion of the situation. A study of Border Patrol operations by the Government Accountability Office indicates that the Border Patrol is about 60% effective, a deplorable figure even if accurate. NAFBPO members maintain contacts with many field officers and...

Or when survivors choose not to report it out of fear.) http://youtu.be/ilJKJ6EA0_c SALTILLO, COAHUILA* The Deputy Chief of the Municipal police was assassinated at about 8:30 pm on his way home from work Tuesday night. We can only estimate the thousands of deaths of US citizens by illegal aliens on our own soil. The media fails to report them, the government ignores them. The murder of David Hartley, on Falcon Lake in Texas and the subsequent beheading by those same cartels of the lead investigator in retaliation have thrown some attention on the threat to us all by the failed state of Mexico. The Arizona Daily Star gives us some facts. Forty-eight Americans were murdered in Mexico during the first six months of 2010 The tally doesn't include two Texans reported killed Sept. 30 in...

In recent months, labor organizations representing federal immigration agents have been among the most outspoken challengers of Obama’s enforcement campaign. In June, the American Federation of Government Employees’ National Council 118, which represents Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, issued a no-confidence vote for ICE Director John Morton, claiming he is promoting amnesty instead of enforcement because most ICE officers are unable to make immigration-related arrests on the streets, leading to “amnesty by policy.” The National Border Patrol Council adopted a similar no-confidence resolution targeting Border Patrol Chief David Aguilar. Brandon Judd, union vice president and president of Local 2544 in...

The National Association of Former Border Patrol Officers, or NAFBPO, has issued a proposal for "Comprehensive Immigration Enforcement and Reform." Unlike the speeches by Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, these proposals have some relation to reality. Who are the members of NAFBPO? Some are retired and former high-ranking Border Patrol managers, individuals who managed the agency's training academy, supervised hundreds of agents in field operations or held senior positions at headquarters. Cumulatively, they have several hundred years of professional experience guarding our borders. The picture they paint of what needs to be done is based on that experience, not political...

About 124,000 people, or 53.9 percent of the total, have sought safe haven in El Paso, Texas, which is just across the border, the Ciudad Juarez Citizens Security and Coexistence Observatory said. As it poises for further immigration initiatives, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is struggling with festering internal divisions between political appointees and career officials over how to enforce laws and handle detainees facing deportation. Under the Obama administration, the Department of Homeland Security has shifted its focus away from the worksite raids and sweeps employed during George W. Bush's presidency to deporting more criminals and creating less prisonlike detention settings. But ICE, a branch of DHS, is facing intensified resistance from agency middle managers and attorneys, and the union that represents immigration officers. The internal conflict has grown increasingly public...

U.S. President Barack Obama’s decision complements the on-going actions against the SB 1070 law, the Mexican Foreign Affairs Secretariat (SRE) said in a press release Tuesday. A group of civil organizations appealed the Arizona law on June 22, an initiative backed by the Mexican government as Amicus Curiae. The SRE acknowledged the sovereign right of all countries to adopt...
