Ask Internet entrepreneur and Silicon Valley venture capitalist Reid Hoffman how he decides which companies to invest in, and he’ll tell you he has a simple litmus test to determine whether to give the idea a closer look. “I want to invest in companies that play to one or more of the seven deadly sins,” Hoffman said. For those a bit rusty, those sins would be: lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy and pride. Hoffman, best known as co-founder of LinkedIn, says the business-professional networking-platform most embodies the deadly sin of greed. “In the end, LinkedIn is helping someone earn...

I am not much of a vanity poster. This morning I have noticed that Firefox had disabled my browser extensions for Ghostery and Adblock plus. I tried to install several other adblock anti-trackers and none of them will install. I have tried to re-install them yet I am denied. I hate to wave goodbye to Firefox as I have been onboard since the Netscape days. But, I cannot get these extensions to install no matter what I do and I will dump them if they want to force the issue

Woke up this morning to find out that Firefox just disabled Dissenter along with a few other web-add-ons in my browser... for "Security" reasons... Isn't it always the same... they Sacrifice OUR RIGHT to free speech using the excuse of an Security Update...

I have a question for browser-savvy FReepers. I downloaded Pale Moon, which seems to be a good browser. A lot of FReepers use it, and that is how I first heard of it. It changed the font size on my email to about 350 percent, and I cannot find a way to reduce it back to 100 percent (i.e., normal size.) Can anyone tell me how to do it? Thank you.

Silicon Valley is in thrall to the cult of diversity. Its measures its employees against racial metrics even as an industry, whose engine is meant to be the intellect, purges any hint of intellectual diversity. It happened at Mozilla with Brendan Eich, the creator of Javascript. It happened at Google with James Damore. Now it happened at Facebook with Palmer Luckey. Luckey's Oculus fueled the race for virtual reality. Facebook bought his company for a fortune. And then it forced him out because he supported Trump and opposed Hillary.

Google’s security foibles, its “aggregate and advertise” model, its avoidance of price signals, its silos of customer data, and its visions of machine mind are unlikely to survive the root-and-branch revolution of distributed peer-to-peer technology, which I call the “cryptocosm.” Today, all around us, scores of thousands of engineers and entrepreneurs are contriving a new system of the world that transcends the limits and illusions of the Google realm. In the Google era, the prime rule of the Internet is “Communications first.” That means everything is free to be copied, moved, and mutated. While most of us welcome “free” on...

Today, we are announcing the Mozilla Information Trust Initiative (MITI)—a comprehensive effort to keep the Internet credible and healthy. Mozilla is developing products, research, and communities to battle information pollution and so-called ‘fake news’ online. And we’re seeking partners and allies to help us do so. Here’s why. Imagine this: Two news articles are shared simultaneously online. The first is a deeply reported and thoroughly fact checked story from a credible news-gathering organization. Perhaps Le Monde, the Wall Street Journal, or Süddeutsche Zeitung. The second is a false or misleading story. But the article is designed to mimic content from...

What’s become abundantly clear over the past few months is that liberals are now jumping on the anti-fake news bandwagon and using it as an excuse to censor political speech that doesn’t align with their radical agenda. This strategy is perhaps most prominent on social media and various websites across the Internet, including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, and is implemented by teams of leftists and extremists like George Soros who show zero regards for the freedom of speech outlined in the First Amendment. It’s as if the ability to control what information is spread across the Internet and what information...

Sorry for the vanity but my frustration with Firefox drove me here. I'll look on the internet too. After I get my airline reservations done. I've switched over to Pale Moon but wanted to check here. Over the last few months Firefox goes into process loops that lasts for a minute or two or more. This morning I tried to cross check prices on airline flights using several tabs and Firefox just like dies looping. I don't want to do a reset 'cause I lose settings. Did a reset a couple of months back and lost all my Reminder entries....

Only Intel machines are affected by Meltdown Details have emerged on two major processor security flaws this week, and the industry is scrambling to issue fixes and secure machines for customers. Dubbed “Meltdown” and “Spectre,” the flaws affect nearly every device made in the past 20 years. The Meltdown flaw only affects Intel processors, and researchers have already released proof of concept code that could lead to attacks using Meltdown. The vulnerabilities allow an attacker to compromise the privileged memory of a processor by exploiting the way processes run in parallel. They also allow an attacker to use JavaScript code...

Quantum it is rather good Mozilla today launched Firefox 57, branded Firefox Quantum, for Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, and iOS. We have been running it for a month or so and it is rather good. Mozilla calls Quantum “by far the biggest update since Firefox 1.0 in 2004”, but even ignoring the hyperbole it does bring much needed performance improvements and a visual redesign to the Firefox stable. Firefox 57 for the desktop is available for download now on Firefox.com, and all existing users should be able to upgrade to it automatically. The Android version is trickling out slowly on...

On November 14 Mozilla will take the biggest gamble in its long history when the organization will ship Firefox 57, the first version of its browser that will stop supporting legacy Firefox add-ons. This means that starting with Firefox 57 the browser will support only new add-ons written on top of the newer WebExtensions SDK. All legacy Firefox add-ons written on the old XUL-based Add-Ons SDK will stop working. In a blog post last week, Mozilla said it will continue to allow developers to upload and list legacy Firefox add-ons on its add-ons portal (AMO), but they'll only show up...

Mozilla, maker of Firefox, has awarded $100,000 USD to fund the email for RiseUp.net. The email service used by Antifa -- a domestic terrorist organization within the United States. Multiple attempts to get a statement from Mozilla & RiseUp -- for over half a week -- have been met with total silence.

Mozilla is joining the fight against "fake news" with a new initiative designed to combat the spread of misinformation on the Internet, the company announced Wednesday. In a post on its blog, the company said it is launching the Mozilla Information Trust Initiative, a four-pronged project that focuses on product, literacy, research and creative interventions. Through the initiative, Mozilla plans to forge partnerships to develop technology combatting misinformation, invest in web literacy programs to address misinformation, research the impact misinformation has on a person's online experiences, and fund technologists who are fighting misinformation. From the horses mouth. https://blog.mozilla.org/blog/2017/08/08/mozilla-information-trust-initiative-building-movement-fight-misinformation-online/

Started using the "Brave" browser today after downloading and setting it up last night. Browser was written by the programmer who wrote Firefox but who was later forced out at Mozilla by the queers, freaks and perverts for supporting traditional marriage. Browser blocks all ads and popups which makes browsing quick and efficient again. Not a lot of instructions but most of the setup mirrors Firefox or is intuitive. Can be obtained free from WWW.Brave.com

Brendan Eich, the creator of JavaScript, continues to lead the technological revolution with Brave, an innovative concept in Internet browsers. After blowing away the competition (read: Microsoft's Internet Explorer) with the Internet browser Firefox, Eich has come up with Brave, a nearly ad-free, lightning-fast browser that eliminates intrusive ads as well as common but unwanted tracking tack-ons. A tech legend for his Java and Firefox contributions, Eich was betrayed by his contemporaries and forced out of business as CEO of Mozilla, the company behind Firefox, because he supported natural marriage... Do you remember the name Brendan Eich? If you're internet savvy, you know him as the creator of JavaScript, the ubiquitous programming language, and you know him as the co-founder of Mozilla, which developed the Firefox browser. That makes him somewhat of a tech legend, and his legend will only increase with the release of his new browser, called Brave, which includes some cutting-edge enhancements. (More on that shortly.) You'll also remember his name if you've been following the culture wars, since Eich was forced to resign as the CEO of Mozilla in 2014 because he committed the cardinal sin...
