Special ReportSaffuri's Ties to Terror Suspects Posted Feb. 23, 2004 By Kenneth R. Timmerman Saffuri (above) has formed relationships with several questionable allies, including Sami al-Arian, who was arrested last year. The rise of Khaled Saffuri to political prominence within the U.S. Muslim community has all the ingredients of a Horatio Alger success story. Brought up as a stateless exile in Kuwait, Saffuri came to America as a student in 1982, went to college in San Diego, and soon gravitated into the world of Muslim activism. A talented fund-raiser and behind-the-scenes power broker, Saffuri built bridges to politicians in both...

The ship Morocco has taken interest in is an export version of the Russian-built Project 677 Lada-class (Petersburg-class)...

Swedish police warns that Stockholm's main train station has become unsafe after being ‘taken over’ by dozens of Moroccan street children. Members of the gangs, some as young as nine, roam central Stockholm day and night, refusing help provided by the Swedish authorities. Sweden has seen a dramatic increase in the number of Moroccan under-18s who apply for asylum without a parent or guardian in the past four years, with many later running away...

Germany wants Algeria and Morocco to take back their nationals with no residence permits in Germany after a sharp rise in asylum seekers from the two North African countries, officials said Friday. Alarmed by the spike in North African arrivals, German authorities want their countries of origin to help in their swift repatriations, in order to free up resources to deal with asylum seekers fleeing war and violence. But the German authorities have in recent weeks flagged problems in expelling Algerians and Moroccans, saying their countries of origin were often unwilling to take them back because of missing identity documents....

Attacks on women in Cologne and other German cities on New Year’s Eve have prompted more than 600 criminal complaints, with police suspicion resting on asylum seekers, putting pressure on Chancellor Angela Merkel and her open door migrant policy. The attacks, mostly targeting women and ranging from theft to sexual molestation, have prompted a highly-charged debate in Germany about its welcoming stance for refugees and migrants, more than one million of whom arrived last year. The sudden nature of the violent attacks and the fact that they stretched from Hamburg to Frankfurt prompted Germany’s justice minister Heiko Maas to speculate...

Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump's new television ad shows footage of dozens of people crossing a fence as the narrator mentions the U.S.'s "southern border" with Mexico. The footage, however, is actually of Moroccans crossing the border into Melilla, one of two enclaves on the Moroccan coast held by Spain, according to Politifact The narrator says the billionaire will "stop illegal immigration by building a wall on our southern border that Mexico will pay for," as the footage plays. Politifact traced the images to an Italian television network, Repubblica TV, which posted the video on May 3, 2014. About 800...

The team was led by Daniel Garcia-Castellanos from the Research Council of Spain (CSIC)...
