Besides the cool, nearly 100-year-old rough-riding Model T Ford pickup truck, this nicely shot 6-1/2 min video includes some pretty Canadian scenery. There's very little audio, other than the sound of the old Model T itself. ________________ Robert Merz [YouTube uploader]"Out for a drive in a 1925 Model T Ford on the type of rough and rugged road it was built for. This 1925 Model T has a few extras, including a Ruckstell rear end and a 2 speed Universal transmission."1925 Model T Ford Sunday Drive (6-1/2 min):https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXFo1V4p1To

At 87, Randall Pitman is driving a truck that's older than he is. But much like its owner, Pitman's beloved 1927 Ford Model T still has a lot of mileage left in it. This weekend, the pair will cover more than 600 kilometres winding from Pitman's South Ohio, N.S., home to a vintage truck show in Crapaud, P.E.I., that's expected to draw hundreds of vehicles and their admirers. This time, the truck will travel on a flatbed, but Pitman has driven it that far in years past. While he could find replacement parts and fix the antique himself if it...

The first Model T Ford is produced at the Ford plant in Detroit, MI. AKA the "tin lizzy", Ford would go on to produce over 15,000,000 of the Model T's before production ended in 1927. By the early 1920s, half of the cars in the world were Model T's.

Henry Ford did a lot for the automobile in America. What everyone knows is that he figured out how to improve manufacturing efficiency so much that the auto was transformed from a toy for the rich into an item that ordinary people could afford. ... But very few people know that Ford had to fight against a cartel to be allowed to sell his vehicles. In this 2001 article published in The Freeman, “How Henry Ford Zapped a Licensing Monopoly,” Melvin Barger goes into the fascinating history of Ford’s legal battle against the Association of Licensed Automobile Manufacturers (ALAM). In...
  • Intel: PC sales weak as many businesses stick with Windows XP

Intel's recent results suggest a slowdown in firms leaving the ancient OS behind and upgrading to new systems. Why won't they update? Most interesting detail that emerged from Intel's lackluster first quarter financial results had nothing to do with mobile, the company's white whale. Instead, it concerned something so old that it almost seems laughable in the same week that the very 21st-century Apple Watch dominated headlines. Per ZDNet's own Larry Dignan: In a statement, Intel said it cut its first quarter outlook because of "weaker than expected demand for business desktop PCs and lower than expected inventory levels across...

The absolutely disastrous past week America had prompts the pick for this week's feature. For a little levity(in both senses of the word), the film that introduced flubber(flying rubber) to our popular culture, the Disney sci-fi comedy classic, "The Absent-Minded Professor". One of the best of the Disney studio's live action films made when Walt was still with us. Absolutely the best part of the film can be found at 1:32:16-1:33:06, especially 1:32:44 to 1:32:55.

Two things happened last week that are minor miracles. We take such things for granted; they got merely local coverage, and not much of that. The first was the Highlands Christmas Parade, on Saturday. The Town is only four blocks long, but the parade was about eight blocks long. So, the first people to take part, had time to join the audience for the rest of the parade. In years past, Mayor Buck Trot would be in the first car as Mayor. Then he would rush back to the staging area, put on his red suit, and be at the...
