    CBS St. Louis ^ | August 20, 2014 5:56 AM | (CBS/AP)
Police and protesters in Ferguson were finally able to share the streets again at night, putting aside for at least a few hours some of the hostility that had filled those hours with tear gas and smoke. The St. Louis suburb still had plenty of lively protest Tuesday over the fatal police shooting of Michael Brown. And tensions rose briefly when someone hurled a bottle at officers. Police told KMOV-TV that urine and bottles were thrown at officers by protesters who hid in the media staging area. Some protesters also chanted “Time To Kill A Cop.” …
  • What Can Attorney General Eric Holder Accomplish in Ferguson?

    NBC News ^ | 08/20/2014 | HASANI GITTENS
Attorney General Eric Holder will be in Ferguson, Missouri, on Wednesday to meet with FBI and law enforcement officials, as well as community leaders, although it's unclear what effect he will have on the tinderbox the northern St. Louis suburbs have become — especially after local cops on Tuesday shot and killed a second young black man in as many weeks. Holder hasn't commented on the second shooting. He is making the trip primarily to meet with the principal players surrounding the shooting of Michael Brown, the black 18-year-old gunned down by a white Ferguson police officer on Aug. 9....

President Obama is doing his job, according to White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett, who is now defending his handling of the Ferguson shooting and the civil unrest that has followed. “He’s doing his job and there’s no magic wand,” she said. “And there are no words that he can speak, alone, that will stop the violence.” (snip) “The circumstances determine the reaction, and it isn’t appropriate for the president to speak up emotionally in the midst of an ongoing investigation by the Justice Department,” she explained.

Following the publication of my column on Sunday, two more leaks have come out which further undercut the media meme on the shooting in Ferguson, Mo. The police department indicates it has 12 eyewitnesses to the shooting who confirm officer Wilson's account, and Wilson has an eye orbital fracture which is also consistent with his claim that Brown reached into the police car and attacked him. We also have been informed from the Brown family's pathologist that marijuana was found in Brown's body. There may be more drugs, as the toxicology report is not due in for weeks.(Apparently the drug...

As I sit watching the wall to wall coverage of the events that are taking place in Ferguson, Missouri, I can’t help but wonder how different things might be if an African-American police officer had shot and killed an unarmed white teenager. If there were video evidence showing a hypothetical white teen stealing merchandise and strong arming a clerk in a convenience store prior to being shot, would the media coverage be anywhere close to what we are seeing? I think not. The coverage would not be nearly as rabid. First of all the racial element would be non-existent. You...

Ferguson, Missouri. — The protests here were calm and orderly Monday evening, until the sun went down and things heated up. During the day, protesters walked in a line on the sidewalk along West Florissant Street, but at night they moved into the streets and marched up the road. Police formed a line and engaged in a tense standoff with protesters at the intersection of Ferguson Avenue and West Florissant Street. After a few unruly protesters began hurling water bottles and other items at police, the cops removed three protesters right away for inciting a riot. Protesters grabbed one man...

The most poisonous "-ism" now infecting Ferguson, Missouri, is not virulent racism. It's viral narcissism. Over the past two weeks, the impoverished St. Louis County suburb has become a magnet for self-absorbed publicity seekers of all colors and agendas. Perhaps the most repulsive species on display in Ferguson is the Journalisto Vanitatis. This breed of egotistical East-Coast reporters can be easily identified by its ever-present appendages: a smartphone and smart glasses. For the J.V., the story is all about "me, me, me!" Huffington Post reporter Ryan Reilly and Washington Post reporter Wesley Lowery were among the first and most prominent...

Attorney General Eric Holder vowed to use Michael Brown's death and the riots in Ferguson, Missouri, to push for more police diversity and even combat unintentional "disparate treatment under the law" of minorities. [Snip] "Enforcement priorities and arrest patterns must not lead to disparate treatment under the law, even if such treatment is unintended," he said. "And police forces should reflect the diversity of the communities they serve." [Snip] "Constructive dialogue should continue – but it must also be converted into concrete action. And it is painfully clear, in cities and circumstances across our great nation, that more progress, more...

A South Florida mother who knows the pain of losing a son firsthand has written an open letter in support of the family of Michael Brown, the 18-year-old killed by a police officer in Ferguson, MO earlier this month.... “They both were unarmed. They were both teenagers. They both were African Americans and the both were shot and killed by a non-African American,” Fulton said.

Protests on the streets of Ferguson, Missouri, were significantly calmer on Tuesday night, but the peaceful atmosphere disintegrated amid a series of clashes that led to 47 arrests, with police claiming they were pelted with bottles containing urine. For most of the night demonstrations were calm with protesters holding signs and chanting, although the majority had taken the advice of leaders to wrap things up by nightfall. Then just before midnight, the protests took a turn for the worst after some people started throwing plastic bottles at police.

Ansgar Graw and Frank Hermann were cuffed and jailed for three hours the day after arriving in the beleaguered suburb of St. Louis. […] The journalists had wanted to take pictures of a burned out gas station on Florissant Avenue, the street at the center of the week-long protest. […] “We felt there were no threats, everything is completely peaceful, and we said that we would stay on and take the photos we wanted,” Graw wrote. Then a young police officer says: “Okay, but only if you keep moving. The moment you stay standing, you’ll be arrested. That’s the last...

Professor Shawn Parcells is a forensic pathologist assistant and medical investigator from Kansas City. He explained to the world how 18 year old Michael Brown died. Parcells was hired by the Brown family’s attorneys. But, he says he motivated by a quest for the truth for loved ones who have been left with only the revolting image of a bullet-riddled body left lying in the street. “The Brown family has been left out in the dark. At the end of the day, they’ve been left out in the dark.” said Shawn Parcells. He says that officer shot Brown from a...

Making a career for yourself as a fake Holocaust survivor is horrible enough. Marketing yourself as a fake Holocaust survivor who attacks Jews is even worse. But that’s what Hedy Epstein, a “Holocaust Survivor” who survived the Holocaust in the UK, has been doing. But then Michael Brown stole the spotlight from Hedy Epstein‘s latest Gaza tantrum, so she headed to Ferguson to get herself arrested.

Shawn Parcells bills himself as a medical investigator, an expert in forensic medicine and a consultant on child abuse. He has testified at murder trials, taught at universities and conducted lectures for lawyers and police officers. Parcells, 33, runs Kansas Forensics, a company based in Leawood, Kan., that provides medical examiner services for county coroners in Missouri and Kansas, and private autopsies for families across the country. He says he has observed or helped with more than 1,000 autopsies, and he’s trained in gunshot wounds, strangulation and drug deaths. But some coroners and medical examiners in Missouri say Parcells has...

Another black child is dead. And while the taste of the Trayvon Martin verdict still lingers in our mouths, injustices in the African American community have made headline news with an unexpected frequency in the last few weeks. Eric Garner. Renisha McBride. And now, Michael Brown. And while the community of Ferguson, Mo., deals with their grief and outrage, the best way they know how, I feel it most important to address this community, our community, and anyone with an open ear and open mind. Before there was a Michael Brown, there was a Trayvon Martin, before him an Oscar...

Ferguson, Mo. • Ferguson city leaders urged people to stay home after dark Tuesday to "allow peace to settle in" and pledged to try to improve the police force in the St. Louis suburb where the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown has sparked nightly clashes between protesters and police. In a public statement, the city said the mayor, the City Council and employees have been exploring ways to increase the number of African-American applicants to the law enforcement academy, develop incentive programs to encourage city residency for police officers and raise money for cameras that would be attached to...

***BREAKING NEWS*** Remember, you saw it and heard it here first. We have heard... ***BREAKING NEWS*** Remember, you saw it and heard it here first. We have heard (from a VERY connected national media source) that Ferguson officer Darren Wilson will be cleared in the shooting of Michael Brown. The key: Dorian Johnson has now admitted that Michael Brown attacked Officer Wilson and attempted to take his gun. OFFICER WILSON WILL NOT BE CHARGED! This is scary. When this news is made official, we all have reason to be concerned about the reaction.
