In a message this evening, Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon called for a "vigorous prosecution" in the shooting death of Michael Brown.
"Once we have achieved peace in Ferguson and justice for the family of Michael Brown, we must remain committed to rebuilding the trust that has been lost, mending what has been broken, and healing the wounds we have endured," he said.

Ten days ago, a police officer shot and killed Michael Brown, in broad daylight. Since then, the world has watched a community become engulfed in grief, anger, fear and at times violence.
For a family mourning the loss of a son, it has been a profound personal tragedy. For Ferguson and our entire nation, it has ripped open old wounds that have festered for generations, and exposed difficult issues that communities across our country must still resolve.
But amid all the pain and distrust and anger, we've also seen tremendous acts of grace, courage, and kindness as the people of Ferguson try to maintain peace, while they call for justice for the family of Michael Brown. In Ferguson, people of all races and creeds are joining hands to pray for justice. Teenagers cooking meals for law enforcement officers. Community leaders demonstrating courage and heroism throughout the night in standing against armed and violent instigators. Volunteers coming out to pick up littered neighborhoods.
They are the faces of Ferguson. They are the faces of this region. They are the faces and soul of Missouri....

>> a “vigorous prosecution”
Why, are the prosecutions normally feeble?
Smells like a witch hunt.
I wonder what the White House has on this Governor?
The police officer was physically assaulted inside his patrol car, and sustained injuries that probably will cause partial blindness the rest of his life.
Are these statements by the Governor an attempt to defuse the situation in Ferguson? I doubt the Ferguson PD’s other officers will be supportive of Jay Nixon’s statements.
He’s a Democrat.
Yes, I know that the Governor is a Dem. But he is talking crazy, like he’s been threatened.
That's a crime!
He should be duly indicted for obstruction of justice and incarcerated for life.
Isn't that how the Donks do it in the Lone Star State?
How can you prosecute a dead person?
Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Alan Grayson, Cynthia McKinney, Sheila Jackson-Lee and Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (among many others) talk crazy all the time, who is threatening them? LOL
This idiot governor’s stupid and prejudicial statement will be a gift to a defense attorney.
“But he is talking crazy, like hes been threatened.”
I think it’s more like he’s talking crazy, like he’s a moron.
It has been my observation that modern democrats are often bat guano crazy. Why should this idiot be any different?
I normally don’t support strikes, but this is a possible exception. A walkout, or sick-out, by every cop in the state.
Jay Nixon has been pwn3d by Valerie.
Guess his testicles never dropped.
“vigorous prosecution”
How about a “vigorous determination of all the facts” first?
Yeesh!
He’s a Democrat (i.e. liberal, marxist, communist scum) so in his mind everyone is guilty unless you think exactly like him.
Wow...I look for a walkback on that idiotic statement after the DA sees it...
He just gave the defense team a gift....
After watching the governor’s press conference last week, I thought he was way out of his league....
I now think he’s an idiot...
That RAT Governor was the MO attorney general for 16 years, he knew exactly how wrong what he said was.
He is going to now have to start walking that back, but that will cost him the black vote. Basically...he’s screwed!
I never heard such irresponsible inflammatory blather from a state governor in my life. No wonder they're still carrying on in Ferguson, with this fool leading the way like this.
This guy needs to be shown the door. On the other hand, he's probably giving a BIG helping hand to the officer's defense by showing such extreme prejudice and by influencing potential jury members. If it ever gets that far. I think such a case would make an even more complete jackass out of this governor than he already is.
