Unfortunately, I just received a call from the national campaign chairman. The event at JCJC has been cancelled. Ted Cruz will not be in Mississippi tomorrow, as he evidently does not feel well. This is difficult news to deliver, but we trust that God has a plan for the campaign and for Mississippi. I wish you all the best.

Thirteen states hold primaries or caucuses over the next two weeks. Of them, Trump is leading polls in nine, according to the RealClearPolitics average, including some of the most important, winner-take-all states. The other states — Hawaii, Maine, Idaho, and Missouri — don't have any recent polls listed on the site. They're also the three states with the fewest delegates to award. And in Maine, Trump has the endorsement of Gov. Paul LePage.

Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump will be in Mississippi the day before the state's primary election. A rally is set for 7 p.m. Monday at Madison Central High School at 1417 Highland Colony Parkway. A Panola County native suspected in another homicide has been indicted in the December 2014 burning death of Courtland teen Jessica Chambers. Quinton Tellis, 27, originally of Courtland, was indicted on capital murder charges by a special grand jury in Panola County as he sat in the Ouachita Parish Jail in Monroe, La., where he is being held in the August death of a University of Louisiana-Monroe exchange student. Tellis is believed to have been the last person with Chambers the night she was killed. The two had a relationship in the weeks leading up to her death, officials said....

A Mississippi man already suspected in a murder reportedly has been indicted in the December 2014 burning death of a 19-year-old woman.  Quinton Tellis, 27, was indicted on capital murder charges Tuesday by a special grand jury in the death of Jessica Chambers, The Clarion-Ledger reported. A Clarksdale, Mississippi, police officer is in the hospital after being shot. Clarksdale Mayor Bill Luckett said the officer was shot in the head while responding to an armed robbery at a convenience store. The robbery happened at 8:57 p.m. The officer is at the hospital getting treatment. Luckett said two robbers came into the front door of the Corner Grocery at the corner of Sunflower Avenue and Second Street. The men were both wearing masks and one had a pistol. Strong storms in the Southeast spawned tornadoes that touched down in Alabama and Mississippi Tuesday, damaging or destroying dozens of homes and at least one church, as well as a prison.
