Contrary to what critics believe, President Barack Obama does have a strategy to confront and defeat the growing threat of the Islamist crazies of ISIS in Iran and Syria. The core of the president's highly confidential plan, which even generals at the Pentagon are not privy to, is to drain the water from the swimming pools at all the U.S. embassies in the Middle East, beginning with the huge outdoor pool at our largely empty $750 million embassy in Baghdad. "This will show ISIS that we mean business," a top Obama official said. "We are drawing a line in the...

There are few truisms about the world economy, but for decades, one has been the role of the United States dollar as the world’s reserve currency. It’s a core principle of American economic policy. After all, who wouldn’t want their currency to be the one that foreign banks and governments want to hold in reserve? But new research reveals that what was once a privilege is now a burden, undermining job growth, pumping up budget and trade deficits and inflating financial bubbles. To get the American economy on track, the government needs to drop its commitment to maintaining the dollar’s...

Right now in the United States, there are more 23-year-olds than people of any other age. This seemingly trivial fact of demographics is an anomaly more than 50 years in the making. According to U.S. Census data, since 1947, the most represented age in the United States has always been a member of the group born in the 20 years after WWII, the baby boomers. In 1950, it was age 3. In 1990, it was 29. In 2010, it was 50. [snip]

'World's smallest house' comes with much larger price tag September 8, 2014, 12:00 pm Yahoo7 Finance What could well be the world's smallest house is for sale - but the price they want for just 188 square feet is gobsmacking. If you thought Sydney house prices were spiralling out of control, spare a thought for those poor souls across the seas in London. What could well be the ‘world’s smallest house’ has hit the market, but don’t expect a small price tag to go with it. The term ‘house’ in this case is a bit of a stretch of the...

Though Canada's political centre of gravity of gravity has shifted westward in recent times - the country's conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper, though Toronto-born, represents a constituency in resource-rich Alberta - this trend has not sparked a separatist revival. Paradoxically, the two referenda were held when two pro-Canada Quebecers, Pierre Trudeau and Jean Chretien, were Prime Minister. A key difference between Scotland and Quebec is the simplicity of the six-word question posed in the referendum: "Should Scotland be an independent country?" In 1995, Quebecers faced a 43-word question that many voters found incomprehensible. In 1980, it ran to a riddle-like...

Atlanta Hawks owner Bruce Levenson is selling his controlling interest in the team, NBA commissioner Adam Silver announced Sunday. In July, Levenson self-reported an email he wrote to the team's co-owners and general manager Danny Ferry in August 2012 that he called "inappropriate and offensive." The league commenced an independent investigation after being made aware of the comments.

I exhort therefore, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; for kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. (I Tim. 2:1-2)

Attorneys for Chris Kyle's estate are asking a judge to throw out a defamation verdict and $1.8 million award in the late Navy SEAL-turned-author's legal battle against Jesse Ventura — or send the matter back for a new trial. In court filings Thursday, they argued that the former Minnesota governor didn't meet the high bar of proof for defamation of a public figure. The judge failed to steer the jury away from an erroneous decision, they said, and the award's dollar amount was pulled from thin air. The Kyle estate is seeking to reverse a verdict issued in July that...

My wife and I had a problem with our Internet. Since we have a bundled service, the folks who came to fix our access also had to reboot the cable and phone. After they left, we found our TV had gained psychic powers. When the phone rings, our screen displays the name and number of the person trying to interrupt our television viewing. This may be old stuff to you, but since I’m a lazy slug who would rather watch reruns of 1960s sitcoms than actually speak to most folks who are calling, I consider it a godsend. Even better,...

There are multiple films in the works that will explore the relationship between literary fantasy giants J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis, one called Tolkien & Lewis from Attractive Films and another called Jack & Tollers from Third Dart Studios. Still another from Fox Searchlight will focus only on Tolkien and is titled, appropriately enough, Tolkien. While the films are in the early stages, one of them — Tolkien & Lewis — is set to announce an interesting castmember: Jill Freud, aka the real Lucy Pevensie from Lewis’ books about Narnia. ...

Journalist James O'Keefe recently tricked actors Ed Begley Jr. and Mariel Hemingway into accepting fake Middle Eastern money to help fund an anti-fracking film in Hollywood. Neither Begley or Hemingway knew they were being duped and secretly filmed. Both actors agreed to hide the fact that their film would be funded by Middle Eastern interests. O'Keefe also captured Hollywood producers explaining methods of hiding the funding, referring to various “non-profit groups” that would help keep Middle Eastern funding under wraps. The full undercover video can be watched right here. The idea that Middle Eastern countries like Saudi Arabia would invest...

Facebook was setup by the C.I.A. Try telling that to most people and they laugh at it. People seem to think its a coincidence that Facebook seems to be so intrusive over and over again. Privacy policies that would make anyone scratch their head. I'm not going to beat around the bush with this blog post. Facebook was setup by the C.I.A. as a data mining project to collect as much information on as many people as they could. Not only that but it also has very strong ties to D.A.R.P.A.

Washington, DC — Two weeks after the highly-publicized armed confrontation with renegade rancher Cliven Bundy and self-styled militia supporters, the U.S. Bureau of Land Management filed 35 formal requests for prosecution with the U.S. Attorney in Nevada but all these charges have been held without action, according to records released today by Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER). The Justice Department is also refusing to release information specifying the specific counts and the individuals named in these criminal referrals.

SpaceX appears to have completed an evaluation into potential commonality between a failure on a test vehicle and its Falcon 9 fleet, following its now-approved request to the Eastern Range for a Saturday morning launch of the ASIASAT-6 mission. The launch, to be conducted by SpaceX’s Falcon 9 v1.1 rocket, was delayed just ahead of fueling last week, in order to triple-check its fault detection systems. ASAISAT-6 Mission: Last week’s launch appeared to be going ahead as planned, as the SpaceX team entered the Delta Launch Readiness Review (LRR). The initial LRR had cleared the flow to proceed towards rollout...

Imagine owning the most popular automaker in the United States. Now imagine a special interest group eliminating your ability to serve over 10 million Americans unless you did business with their unique cartel. That's in essence what happened right before Labor Day weekend, when the Georgia Auto Dealer Association filed a petition with state officials seeking to cancel Tesla's license to sell its cars in the state of Georgia. Tesla's crime? Selling 173 cars directly from a factory-owned store located 25 miles away from Atlanta, the only Tesla retail location in Georgia. The dealers say Tesla can only sell 150...
