The first Chinese passenger car is now being produced in Pakistan, a market that is currently dominated by three Japanese carmakers. Al-Haj Faw Motors (Private) Limited, a collaboration between Faw China and a commercial importer of heavy vehicles Al-Haj Motors, has started assembling Faw V2, a 1,300cc hatchback, at its assembly plant in Karachi. The company was importing Completely Built Units (CBU) of V2 for the last two years to see market response. Now that it is satisfied with the response, it has decided to produce the car locally to compete with well-established Japanese brands. ADVERTISEMENT Ad “We want to...

When Americans think of Communism in Eastern Europe, they imagine travel restrictions, bleak landscapes of gray concrete, miserable men and women languishing in long lines to shop in empty markets and security services snooping on the private lives of citizens. While much of this was true, our collective stereotype of Communist life does not tell the whole story. Some might remember that Eastern bloc women enjoyed many rights and privileges unknown in liberal democracies at the time, including major state investments in their education and training, their full incorporation into the labor force, generous maternity leave allowances and guaranteed free...

Robert Mitchum was born in Connecticut one hundred years ago - August 6th 1917 - and had the kind of childhood that gives you plenty to talk about in interviews, although Mitchum rarely did. His father, a railroad worker, was crushed to death before his son's second birthday, and young Bob was eventually sent to live with his grandparents in Delaware. He was expelled from middle school for getting into a fight with the principal. Kicked out of high school, he drifted round the country, hopping freights, sleeping in boxcars, picking up a little dough digging ditches, getting jailed for...
  • Where does this Violence End? (vanity)

Good morning people, A few of things to keep in mind about the violence yesterday: 1) The NAZI / KKK / Alt Right / White Supremacists / Trump Supporters (whatever you want to call them) had a legal permit to march in Charlottesville. 2) The march was peaceful until the 'counter protesters', the people without permits (the Bernie people), showed up. 3) The police were ordered to stand-down, by the government - hence the violence was intentional. One Leftist that I know says that the easy way to avoid the violence is to not permit the NAZIs (and similar groups)...

All the war talk is turning out to be great for bitcoin. It's been on fire since January, 2017 when it for the first time reached $1,000 U.S. Dollars. It's now worth 3 times the price of gold. I bet it will be up to $5,000 in early September and over $7,000 by the end of October. We will see how it plays out.

My shed is like a lot of other sheds. ItÂ’s an old shed, flirting with almost 25 years now. ThereÂ’s some rust in parts, it has some dents, but so do I. ThereÂ’s tools galore that assisted in building, fixing, destroying and defending our tiny corner of the world. TheyÂ’re proud of a job well done. Strewn are pieces of memories that beg for momentum to be remembered. Raising their hand to answer the question of glory past. In the corner is a shovel splintered with half the handle cut off. The narrowing part that comes to form a rounded...

Hillary Clinton is back in the news, but for reasons that are confounding her supporters and her detractors alike. She is reportedly weighing a decision to become a Methodist lay preacher. There are good reasons why her fans and foes are befuddled: it is out of character for almost any Democrat these days to evince a serious interest in Christianity. Quite simply, it will not be easy for her to make the jump to preacher status given all the hostility to traditional Christian moral values that she and her Party have expressed for decades. “God talk” has never come easily...

Isaak Komisarchik, 82, was last seen alive on July 5. Nearly a month later, his decomposing body was found in an inoperable elevator at the Woodstream Village apartments in Denver after tenants complained to management about an awful smell coming from a parking garage area that was under renovation, CNN affiliate KMGH reported. Denver police are investigating what went wrong -- particularly after police determined Komisarchik tried to summon help by pressing the elevator's emergency button at least twice on morning of July 6, police spokesman Doug Schepman told CNN. ... 08/11/2017 11:25:22 AM PDT · by heterosupremacist · 13 replies
National Presidential Joke Day began on August 11, 1984. During a sound check for his Saturday evening radio broadcast, President Ronald Reagan joked, “My fellow Americans, I’m pleased to tell you today that I’ve signed legislation that will outlaw Russia forever. We begin bombing in five minutes.” Since 1982, the networks had agreed comments made during sound checks were off the record. However, it was leaked to the general public and CBS eventually broadcast the recording on its Monday evening report. Critics blasted Reagan as being unpresidential, and others considered the joke harmless under most circumstances.... I never heard a...

Bible Study In this crazy political season I decided a little religion might be appropriate so here is a short Bible study. Remember what Jesus said: 'Goats on the left, sheep on the right' (Matthew 25:33). Jesus also told Peter that if he wanted to catch fish do it from the right side of the boat. They did and filled the boat with fish. John 21:6 (NIV) ... He said, "Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some." When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large...

KINGSPORT — A Greeneville woman has been arrested after allegedly zooming through Interstate 81 traffic at 115 mph while hauling a 16-year-old and toddler as passengers. According to an affidavit filed in Kingsport General Sessions Court, Britanni N. Starnes, 20, is charged with reckless endangerment and speeding. The incident occurred Tuesday at 8:15 p.m. A Kingsport officer near mile marker 56 spotted a 2010 Nissan Versa speeding in the northbound lanes. Officer Hart Nguyen, of the 75th Precinct, was hit twice in the bulletproof vest and once in the arm while responding to a call of an emotionally disturbed person at a residence in 149 Ridgewood Ave. in Cypress Hills, the sources said. He was rushed to Jamaica Hospital and was expected to survive. “The vest definitely saved him,” Mayor de Blasio said at a press conference on Thursday night. It was initially unclear if anyone else was inside the apartment while the suspect was holed up, but sources said it was the man’s mother who called the police on him....

On Sunday evening, Hillary Clinton attended the wedding between two prominent Jewish families wearing a long, flowing blue caftan. Was the dress fun? Yes. Was it fashionable? Not really. Hence my shock that this glorified muumuu made Vogue’s best-dressed of the week list. We get it, Vogue loves Hillary. We love her too. But this dress, a shapeless smock that sooner conjures comparisons to a haimish shabbos robe for Friday nights in a Catskills bungalow colony than an appropriate white-tie wedding outfit, is not a “Best-Dressed” look. Huma Abedin, in her embroidered Needle and Thread frock, is better suited for...

The world has watched, seemingly without recourse, as North Korea continues to rapidly develop intercontinental nuclear missile capabilities. After two recent tests, experts now believe North Korea could strike as far as Chicago or London. Those favoring diplomacy above all else—which has utterly failed over the past 25 years—must realize that North Korea is on the cusp of being able to threaten every US citizen on a whim. Now, according to a report released by the Defense Intelligence Agency, North Korea has successfully produced a miniaturized nuclear warhead that will fit its ballistic missiles. While North Korea may not yet...
