Regarding the moment when I first saw the title of the article, Hillary Clinton Willing to Cross Border to Combat Heroin, I have a confession to make. My first thought was, send us a postcard and be sure to wear some body armor. I mean, why not? She still looks pretty scrappy for her age, and if she managed to take out a few cartel operatives then at least she’d have something to point to as an accomplishment as she runs for president. Sadly, that’s not really what she meant at all. (ABC News) Democratic presidential contender Hillary Clinton...

Trump Nails It- By: Larry Walker II -Last year our trade deficit with Mexico totaled $53.8 billion, and is projected to end about the same in 2015. When the last three decades are summed, we find that the United States 30-year trade deficit with Mexico amounts to $910.2 billion. Although this has been great for Mexico, it hasn’t been so great for the United States. Looking back over the last 30 years, we find that the United States actually ran trade surpluses with Mexico in 1991 through 1994, and then came the North Atlantic Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA - 1994)....

The killing of 12 people, eight of whom were Mexican nationals, in Egypt’s Western Desert is an incident like no other for several reasons. Egypt has seen cases of terrorists killing tourists, and security forces killing terrorists. But this time it was security forces killing tourists. The reason for the attack, which also injured six other Mexicans, and four Egyptians, is that security forces mistook the tourists, their guides and drivers for militants. The controversy was taken to another level when victims were said to have ventured into a restricted area. Each relevant state authority absolved itself of contributing to...

Germany, led by Chancellor Angela Merkel, has driven the debate on the handling of migrants in recent weeks, but there are signs that domestic tolerance is becoming stretched. At the same time some local governments are looking at measures which risk further anger, such as compulsory rental of private property for migrant housing. When Chancellor Merkel first announced that Germany would open its borders to welcome Syrian migrants, she enjoyed a degree of support from domestic and international media. Even from the outset Merkel’s move was not without its domestic critics. As Breitbart London previously reported, there were those among...

GOP presidential candidate Carly Fiorina took a jab at GOP frontrunner Donald Trump during her campaign swing through Iowa, where she said she doesn’t support challenging the Constitution or the 14th amendment, in light of Trump’s immigration plan. “I’ve been very clear I don’t support deportation. I don’t support amending the Constitution or challenging the 14th Amendment,” Fiorina told NBC News on the topic of Trump’s immigration policy. “I think these are ideas that stoke anger but don’t solve problems. I think Donald Trump is stoking anger without solving problems. And I think others, now, are sadly pandering to him.”...

Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson on Tuesday criticized San Francisco's policy of not cooperating fully with immigration officials, calling it counterproductive and unacceptable. The city's sanctuary policy has come under scrutiny since the shooting in July of Kate Steinle as she walked with her father and a family friend along the San Francisco waterfront. The shooting triggered a national debate over immigration after it was revealed the man charged in the killing, Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez, had been deported five times to his native Mexico and was out on the streets after San Francisco officials disregarded a request from immigrations authorities...

EXCERPT (Columba) Bush decided to continue campaigning, especially in Latino communities, where her presence and bilingual skills were highly valued. Later that year, at the Republican National Convention, she took the podium to second her father-in-law's nomination. She had prayed to the Virgin of San Juan for strength. After much prayer and thought, she would give up her Mexican citizenship to vote for George Bush. "That was a difficult decision to make because up until then I didn't see any necessity to change my citizenship. My husband wanted me to stay as a Mexican citizen, and the whole family has...

In a new ad aimed at Hispanic voters – and quite possibly English language advocates Sarah Palin and Donald Trump – Jeb Bush crusades for the presidency in Spanish and rolls out his "secret weapon" – his wife, Columba. After Palin and Trump criticized Bush for speaking Spanish on the campaign trail – with Palin suggesting that the GOP candidate "speak American" while in the U.S. – Bush released the bilingual ad declaring Hispanics "an integral part of the American dream." "The United States of America is a great country," Bush says in Spanish. "Thanks to the people that come...

Gov. Jeb Bush has released a Spanish-language Internet ad, in which his Mexican-born wife makes her first appearance of the campaign to deliver a halting, accented and simple English pitch, while he speaks happily in confident Spanish. Columba Bush rarely speaks in public, and English is not her native language. She was born in Mexico, and moved to the United States with Jeb Bush. Her 15-second scripted comments are very simple. “I have lived more than half my life here. So, you know, I agree that we all have the same interests, the same feelings. We go to church every...

GOP presidential candidate Ben Carson told CBS’s “Face the Nation” on Sunday that his immigration plan would include giving illegal immigrants six months to register as guest workers. “Those who are here, you know, we have to recognize that we can't just round them up, but we can give them an opportunity to register. I would give them a six-month period, and if they register and they have a pristine record, they haven't been causing problems, I would give them an opportunity to become guest workers, not citizens, not voting people, not people who get goodies,” said Carson. “And I...

Ben Carson has been getting a lot more love from the Sunday shows with his now solidified second place status heading into the debates and he was invited to sit down on Face the Nation this morning. Much of the interview was fairly nondescript, but when the host offered him the chance to not only comment on The Donald’s immigration plan but offer one of his own, well… things got a bit interesting. (via Ian Tuttle at National Review) But let’s say we get [the borders] sealed, because certainly in a Carson administration that would be done within the first...

Republican presidential hopeful Ben Carson jabbed Tuesday at front-runner Donald Trump's proposal to deport everyone who is in the country illegally, calling the plan impractical. "People who say that have no idea what that would entail" legally and otherwise, Carson said, adding: "Where you going to send them?"

Ignoring criticism from Donald Trump about speaking Spanish on the campaign trail, Jeb Bush uses his second language in a new video celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. The one-minute video, “Todos Somos Americanos” or “We are all Americans,” also features a rare appearance from his wife of 41 years, Columba, who’s from Mexico. “I have lived over half my life here,” she says in English in the video. “We all have the same interests, the same feelings.” The Republican presidential candidate says in Spanish that he is “proud” that his children and grandchildren are Hispanic. “Hispanics contribute more every day to...

Jeb Bush’s presidential campaign has brought with it a resurgence of the idea that he’s the smarter of the two political Bush brothers. Experts on the Bush family say it’s an old idea, but it may not be correct. The notion that Jeb is the smart one has its roots in the brothers’ youth, according to Bill Minutaglio, the author of “First Son: George W. Bush and the Bush Family Dynasty.” “Growing up,” he said in an email, “Jeb’s older brother was given to the kind of backslapping, grinning and preening that led some family members and friends to believe...

Jeb Bush is deploying his "secret weapon" in a new video designed to appeal to Hispanic voters. A new video released by the campaign Monday shows Bush speaking in Spanish and his wife, Columba Bush, speaking in English in her most expansive comments to date on her husband's behalf. Entirely in Spanish, the candidate says: "The United States of America is a great country. Thanks to the people that come from all over the world, contributing to our economy and community. To me, Hispanic culture is very important and positive." His wife, who was born in Mexico, adds in English:...

Thousands of women and girls disappear in Mexico every year - many are never seen alive again. When one couple realised their daughter was missing, they knew they didn't have long to find her. Elizabeth realised something was terribly wrong within 15 minutes of her teenage daughter, Karen, disappearing. "I just knew it, I had an anguish that I'd never felt before. I searched the streets, called friends and family, but no-one had seen her," she says. "She'd gone to the public toilets with nothing - no money, no mobile phone, no clothes… We thought she'd been kidnapped." Karen disappeared...

-snip- WSJ: You’ve said as president you would create a path to citizenship for some of the undocumented immigrants in the United States. What would a Ben Carson path to citizenship look like? Mr. Carson: I think that’s a discussion that has to be had with Congress, which represents the people. WSJ: So do you have a sense in your mind what that criteria ought to be? Mr. Carson: You have to remember this is a country that is of, for and by the people. So if we’re going to allow people who have come in here illegally to become...
