WSJ: Youve said as president you would create a path to citizenship for some of the undocumented immigrants in the United States. What would a Ben Carson path to citizenship look like?
Mr. Carson: I think thats a discussion that has to be had with Congress, which represents the people.
WSJ: So do you have a sense in your mind what that criteria ought to be?
Mr. Carson: You have to remember this is a country that is of, for and by the people. So if were going to allow people who have come in here illegally to become American citizens we have to have a consensus of the people of this country as to how that should be done and what the criteria are.
WSJ: But as the person who would is seeking to lead the country, what are your ideas as to what that criteria ought to be?
WSJ: Who would make that decision?
Mr. Carson: I think its pretty easy to decide if somebody is destructive or if somebody is constructive. You know, if theyre in trouble all the time, if theyre committing crimes, if theyre doing things to cause you to always be spending money on them, theyre not constructive.
WSJ: Is there a panel or an element in the government that would make that decision?
Mr. Carson: The criteria would be set with the immigration department.
WSJ: Border control? ICE? What is the immigration department?
Mr. Carson: There are many components to the immigration department. ICE is only one of them. The people who decide citizenship are another component.

What the hell is Carson talking about with the "Immigration Department"?!!
If Carson continues to remain the number two candidate after all these gaffes then I’m seriously going to have to question the sanity of our base.
Insanity:
Mr. Carson: The criteria would be set with the immigration department.
WSJ: Border control? ICE? What is the immigration department?
Mr. Carson: There are many components to the immigration department. ICE is only one of them. The people who decide citizenship are another component.
If they're foreign nationals, and they're here without our permission, they're committing crimes, and they're costing us money.
Logic is not Carson's long suit.
It would be interesting to see how he thinks that blather could be codified using objective criteria instead of feel-good subjective BS.
Anyone who comes here illegally is, by definition, a law breaker. I’d consider that the same thing as being destructive rather than constructive. A “constructive” immigrant is one who comes here by the rules and assimilates into the country.
I could not vote for Mr. Carson. No immigration amnesty!
I think the WSJ interviewer pretty quickly revealed that Carson has no such objective criteria.
I wonder if the interviewer has been fired yet.
I think thats a discussion that has to be had with Congress...
No. No it isn’t. Immigration laws are already on the books. We dont need reform. That’s a liberal term meaning “screw Americans”.
Enforce the law on the books and make NO concessions.
Let Americans kids and adult blacks make 8 to 10 bucks an hour the illegals get in NYC.
Blacks COULD learn from the illegals on Staten Island at least.
Live 6 to a home as single men. Bring in a combined 200k. Save 150k a year. At this rate they wouldn’t be working for construction companies and landscapers soon. They would OWN the businesses.
Put EVER able bodies man into the workforce. NO more handouts!!! Send mexicans home.
My mother grew up with four other sisters in a bedroom. tough.
I think the GOPe has a lot to do with this ‘rise’ in Carson....
He was back in the pack until recently and now all of a sudden he’s number two?
Sounds to me like the GOPe is trying to shove him down our throats....
Jebby is finished as is about half of the candidates, the GOPe think they can do what they want, but not this time....come on folks lets shove them right back....
Agree 100%. If the have to go with an anti-establishment candidate, Carson is their man. THey can and will control him. He is not conservative on many issues and is too naive to understand that his lefty positions are GOPe. Certainly not the man we need.
Mr. Carson: The human body was not made for that type of abuse, theres no question about that. But do human beings love to see carnage, yes. They always have and they always will. So that may be one of the safer forms of carnage to satisfy the human desire.
WSJ: Did your sons play?
Mr. Carson: No. One of my sons wanted to wrestle and my wife went to a couple of matches and she said, Nope!
With all due respect to Dr. Carson (and that respect is earned in medical matters especially), there is no evidence of severe head trauma of the kind inherent in football and boxing associated with wrestling.
Letting his wife make the call may have been part of it, as my mom came to my first wrestling match in high school and never went to another one. She couldn't handle the intensity and hated it, although she liked the fitness and work ethic it required, and supported me doing it (she just never came to watch).
Does he consider living on public assistance constructive? I recently saw an article that 85% of illegals in California are on public assistance. Still Carson says deportation is immoral.
I can’t help but notice that enforcing our immigration laws apparently never occurs to him.
