A Texas substitute teacher named Natally Garcia has been fired and is facing criminal charges after turning her middle school classroom for 12 and 13-year-olds into a fight club where she urged them to engage in bloody brawls. A federal judge Tuesday order a new investigation after a Mesquite teacher's aide admitted to faking a cancer diagnosis to conceal a criminal case in West Virginia. New York officials said alleged members of an identity theft ring used an electronic encoder and other tools inside a Manhattan hotel room to steal money from nearly 400 people who used credit and debit cards at a Mesquite gas station. The four suspects are accused of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from the victims. Garegin Spartalyan, 40, Aram Martirosian, 34, Hayk Dzhandzhapanyan, 40, and Davit Kudugulyan, 42, were charged this week in New York in a 405-count indictment with various offenses including grand larceny and possession of stolen property, officials said.

MESQUITE, Nev. – Five members of a Southern California family were killed Saturday when their van was rear-ended by an 18-year-old driver who was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, authorities said. The dead were among seven family members who were in the van, authorities said. The other two -- the 40-year-old female driver and a 15-year-old boy -- were hospitalized in critical condition. The Mesquite City Council resolved this week to annex 2.2 square miles along Interstate 20 at FM740 in Kaufman County, part of the city's extraterritorial jurisdiction along the proposed route of the Trans-Texas Corridor.
