  • Harris-Perry Guest: Don't Execute Tsarnaev—Could Become Spox for Reconciling with Islam

Of all the rotten reasons not to execute Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, we'll give the booby prize to the one offered by Paul Raushenbush, a HuffPo religion editor and ordained American Baptist minister. On Melissa Harris-Perry's show today, Raushenbush imagined that in twenty years, Tsarnaev might become "a spokesperson for reconciling Islam with America. We don't know what this life is going to lead to." Anything's possible, but surely Tsarnaev's sentence should not be based on this sort of idle speculation. What made Raushenbush's argument particularly galling was his statement that "the idea of ending any life for any reason is for...
  • Liberals: "Taxes for Thee, Not for Me"

“Taxes for thee, but not for me” is the liberal mantra.  The celebrity-worshipping elite Left exalts the “middle-class” while not deigning to join it, and certainly doesn’t lower itself to such plebeian pursuits as paying taxes. While Melissa Harris-Perry laments the plight of inner-city black women (and beclowns herself by asking Eric Holder to “quack for us”), she also accumulates quite a lot of loot along the way.  In 2012, she tweeted pictures of her latest renovation project in New Orleans—not her first round of “This Old House”--she and hubby James Perry renovated another fixer-upper in 2009. (James, speaking about...

I have a sneaky feeling that MSNBC political correspondent Kasie Hunt isn't a registered Republican. Even so, there's little doubt that at least for now Marco Rubio is winning the Kasie Hunt primary. In successive appearances on the Up with Steve Kornacki and Melissa Harris-Perry shows this morning, Hunt made clear that Rubio was her standout in the Republican field assembled this weekend in New Hampshire. On "Up" Hunt called Rubio "the strongest candidate in telling a story . . . really somebody to watch." A bit later on MH-P, Hunt hailed Rubio as the person who "stood out to...

MSNBC weekend host Melissa Harris-Perry had a particularly tough tax day — the anchor and her husband owe $70,000 in delinquent taxes, according to a report in the Winston Salem-Journal. The IRS filed the notice on April 6th and filed a lien on the Perrys, the report said. Harris-Perry said she was aware of her debt, but not the tax lien. She and her husband paid $21,721 of her debt on Wednesday; the remaining debt of $43,581 covers a tax period that ended on December 31st, 2013.

According to The Winston-Salem Journal, Wake Forest University professor and MSNBC weekend host Melissa Harris-Perry and her husband James Perry owe the Internal Revenue Service $70,000 in delinquent taxes. A notice filed this month in the Forsyth County Hall of Justice indicates the IRS has placed a lien on the Perrys. More from the Journal report:

Imagine you're a Cuban who has somehow managed to catch the cablecast of Melissa Harris-Perry's MSNBC show today. The topic is President Obama's opening toward Cuba. You're scraping by on the average Cuban monthly salary of $20/month and are thrilled at the prospect of getting a better-paying job if and when American tourists start coming in numbers. Then suddenly you hear Harris-Perry fretting that there could be a "downside" for Cuba in letting in those American tourists. They could be a "plague" for Cuba. Impose their cultural "hegemony." !Ay caramba! View the video here.

On Melissa Harris-Perry's show this weekend, the host resoundingly approved when a guy who said that his mission in life is to "get white people to talk about whiteness" suggested that baristas at Starbucks should write “White supremacy has been the organizing principle of America since it was founded” on customers' coffee cups. - See more at:

Call it the Marxist theory of surplus value in high-tops . . . On Melissa Harris-Perry's MSNBC show today, David Zirin, sports guy at the far-left Nation mag, called the NCAA tournament nothing less than "the organized theft of black wealth." Zirin expanded his accusation to call the tournament the theft of "youth wealth." Speaking of wealth, Zirin has made a living out of adopting provocative positions, from supporting the boycott of Israeli athletes, to attributing dislike of Barry Bonds to--you guessed it--racism. MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry said during an address at Cornell University this week that she hopes 17-year-old Trayvon Martin “whooped the s--t” out of gunman George Zimmerman during their fatal encounter in 2012. Harris-Perry’s speech, titled “We Can’t Breathe: The Continuing Consequences of Inequality,” was delivered during the university’s annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Lecture. She said the following of Martin’s death: “I hope [Martin] tried to stay alive. I hope he knew that he lived in a state with a ‘Stand Your Ground’ law.’ ” Zimmerman was acquitted in 2013 on murder charges. Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” law was...

Next time you're assembling a criminal defense team, remember to forget Melissa Harris-Perry. On her MSNBC show today, MH-P commented on the news that authorities are considering charges against Michael Brown's stepfather Louis Head, who on the night the grand jury declined to indict, jumped on a car and implored the crowd "burn this mother------ down! Burn this b--ch down!" Numerous buildings were thereafter torched. Argued Harris-Perry: "arson and looting . . . are not necessarily violence." She added that those crimes should bear a "legal difference" from violence against "bodies." Even if you accept Harris-Perry's premise [I would argue...

Melissa Harris-Perry proudly portrays her MSNBC show as "Nerdland." But has it devolved from a cozy academic coffee klatsch for lefties into something else? To discuss the issue of relations between police and black Americans, with the backdrop of Ferguson and a shooting this week in St. Louis, Harris-Perry had as a member of her panel Mychal Denzel Smith. On the one hand, Denzel Smith would appear, as a writer for The Nation, to fit the Nerdland bill. But a review of his Twitter feed reveals that two days ago Denzel Smith tweeted: 'F---.The.Police." And late last month he tweeted...

Phyllis Bennis is a Melissa Harris-Perry fave. How bonkers-left is Bennis? She's a defender of Iran and its nuclear ambitions, and wants Israel wiped off the map, to be replaced by a single Palestinian state. On today's MH-P, Bennis once again put her radical views on display, arguing that many US soliders aren't truly volunteers, but are "forced in by poverty and lack of other opportunities." "That's absolutely ridiculours," responded Iraq war veteran Earl Catagnus Jr. View the video here.

This is especially for you parents who have your most precious possessions (your KIDS) in government schools and then scrimp and save to send them to allegedly top notch colleges and universities.  This radical leftist pictured below is the poster girl for the vast majority of those who "teach" (read that "indoctrinate") in those places.  Many of us have understood their intentions for a long time.  The left has now grown so bold that they no longer must conceal their takeover of the educational system here.  Then you are puzzled when your kids come out hating you and the values...

On the Sunday, April 20, Melissa Harris-Perry show on MSNBC, as host Harris-Perry chastised Democrats for not bragging about ObamaCare for the year's midterm elections, she at one point mocked Americans angry about having their health insurance plans cancelled, which she referred to as "crappy plans," as she lamented that Democrats are not boasting about ObamaCare or declaring, "Yeah, you can't keep your crappy plans. Just deal with that!" Her mockery of the ObamaCare-induced insurance cancellations came as she compared Republicans to people who flip houses and brag about doing only a little work, as she characterized Democrats, by contrast,...

The three Associated Press reports I've seen on the UAW's failure to win the right to represent hourly workers at the Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee — the first two were covered in NewsBusters posts here and here; the wire service's 3:52 p.m. report is here — all mention in one way or another what UAW President Bob King is now calling "unprecedented outside interference" in the runup to the election. he notion that MSNBC is now the most controversial gaffe-a-minute cable news network has been ratified by the Associated Press. AP media reporter David Bauder wrote a story headlined “Loose lips give ammunition to MSNBC foes.” “Since MSNBC is in the political ring, its opponents are always on the lookout for things to attack,” Bauder wrote. “Lately, NBC's left-leaning cable news sister has offered plenty of ammunition.” The firing of a staff member over an obnoxious tweet that the “rightwing” would hate a Cheerios ad with a biracial family comes after Alec Baldwin and Martin Bashir were let go. At a recent forum at the University of Michigan, MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry explained to her audience that white people will never understand why things are racist, because they lack an innate “racial trigger,” that instantly tells them when to be outraged. Harris-Perry, on the other hand, has a very finely-tuned racial trigger. “I know that this moment is racist because it trips my racial trigger, because it makes me feel nauseous,” she said, according to The Michigan Daily. “I’m not generally angry, but you just made me mad.” While lamenting that her ‘white allies’ would never be fully able...
