I keep thinking one of these days, politicians will remember the internet exists, and along with it, evidence of almost about everything they’ve said or done while in office (and often outside of the office, too — just ask David Wu). Alas… As the Trump cabinet targeting continues, Sen. Claire McCaskill stepped in a huge pile by claiming she never had a meeting or call with a Russian ambassador.

Folks, here is a Democratic Senator's Tweet that is a LIE! She secretly met with Russian Agents AT LEAST TWICE! Claire McCaskill ✔ @clairecmc I've been on the Armed Services Com for 10 years.No call or meeting w/Russian ambassador. Ever. Ambassadors call members of Foreign Rel Com.McCaskill

Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) called for Attorney General Jeff Sessions to resign Thursday morning over allegations that he met with Russia’s ambassador twice last year then made a statement indicating otherwise during his confirmation hearings. McCaskill has joined the dog pile of Democrats calling for Sessions’s resignation over the debacle. She threw some additional shade in the Attorney General’s direction Thursday morning by tweeting that she’s never met with Russia’s ambassador in the 10 years she’s served on the U.S. Senate Committee on Armed Services. {..snip..}

Sen. Claire McCaskill (D., Mo.) tweeted on Thursday that she has never met or called the Russian ambassador to the United States, but her past tweets refute that claim. McCaskill's assertion came after reports surfaced that Attorney General Jeff Sessions had spoken with Ambassador Sergey Kislyak twice last year. "I've been on the Armed Services Com for 10 years," McCaskill wrote early Thursday morning. "No call or meeting w/Russian ambassador. Ever. Ambassadors call members of Foreign Rel Com." NASCAR champ Carl Edwards seems to be open to trading his driver’s seat for a spot in the U.S. Senate. The 37-year-old didn’t exactly rule out challenging Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill, a Democrat whose second term in office expires in 2018. “I believe firmly in the principles that the U.S. was founded upon. If I could help, I definitely would consider it,” he texted to the Associated Press on Wednesday.

Carl Edwards remains a hot topic in NASCAR, two weeks after his abrupt retirement as a full-time driver. Terry Smith, a political science professor at Columbia College, speculated in a Wednesday piece for KBIA's Talking Politics that Edwards will challenge U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill in Missouri next year. McCaskill, a Democrat, is in her second term. Edwards didn't exactly rule it out when reached by The Associated Press. He texted: "I believe firmly in the principles that the U.S. was founded upon. If I could help, I definitely would consider it."

If Mrs. Clinton is forced to drop out of the 2016 presidential race due to her illnesses, and the Democrats choose centrists Mark Warner, Tim Kaine, or Claire McCaskill to replace her, would the Democratic base be enthusiastic, or would their turnout drop to where Mr. Donald Trump wins in a landslide?

Thursday on MSNBC's "Andrea Mitchell Report", Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) said she did not believe Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump when he said his comments urging Russia to hack into Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton's email were "sarcastic" and she believed he violated the Logan Act and should be "investigated for that".

Sen. Claire McCaskill (D., Mo.) called the Founding Fathers of the United States “a little maniacal” in their focus on having a separation of powers during an appearance Thursday on Morning Joe. McCaskill, a Hillary Clinton supporter, said while criticizing Donald Trump that the country should not be divided and pointed to the rancor in Congress as proof of the problem.

Democratic Senator Claire McCaskill laid into Trump during an interview with Missouri radio host McGraw Milhaven, calling Trump a “buffoon” and questioning the voters who have been supporting him. “I wonder how many people that are voting for him that are kind of embarrassed,” the Missouri senator said on Missouri’s KTRS on Thursday morning, as first reported by BuzzFeed. “I have so many friends that are — I feel for them. A lot of Republican friends are just saying, ‘we can’t let this guy be commander-in-chief. He has no idea what he’s talking about.’”

"I would challenge any American to go and see the screening process and not be convinced that it is incredibly thorough and, secondly, to not have their heart pulled by the children, these children and their families, that are fleeing horrendous circumstances." — Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill who traveled to Austria, Jordan and Israel last week and came away reassured about the screening process for Syrian refugees.

It was August 7, 2012, and I was standing in my hotel room in Kansas City about to shotgun a beer for the first time in my life. I had just made the biggest gamble of my political career—a $1.7 million gamble—and it had paid off. Running for reelection to the U.S. Senate as a Democrat from Missouri, I had successfully manipulated the Republican primary so that in the general election I would face the candidate I was most likely to beat. And this is how I had promised my daughters we would celebrate. But first let me go back...

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Donald Trump's incendiary comments - and the GOP response - are proving political gold for Democrats. Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid jumped on both Tuesday, first attacking Trump for his criticism of Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., then pivoting to a larger target: the growing GOP presidential field and the entire Republican Party. Reid, D-Nev., noted that while Trump's GOP White House rivals were nearly unanimous in denouncing Trump's suggestion that McCain is not really a war hero, they were more tentative in responding to his criticisms of Mexican immigrants as "criminals" and "rapists."(continued)

Other members of the Senate fumed Saturday over objections by Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Mike Lee (R-UT) that held up a $1.1 trillion omnibus bill meant to keep the government open. The objection was fueled by the two conservatives' desire to fight President Barack Obama's executive action on immigration. The objections by Cruz and Lee mean that the Senate must slog through procedural votes Saturday on nominees and also vote to end a filibuster on the omnibus bill at 1 a.m. on Sunday. It was too much for Democrats and even Republicans to bite their tongues over....

On a recent afternoon in the Senate majority leader’s office, Harry Reid decided he was done talking about his chief of staff, David Krone. Instead, he and his top aide wanted to chat about the Vatican. “We sure do like this new pope,” Mr. Reid said of Pope Francis. After a brief discussion about the pope’s opponents in the Catholic hierarchy, Mr. Reid, a Mormon from Searchlight, Nev., brought up the name of perhaps the pontiff’s most vocal critic, the American cardinal Raymond L. Burke, a once enormously powerful prelate who has lost key Vatican positions under Francis. “How about...

Despite losing at least eight seats, and probably nine before all the votes are counted by 2015, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) has not faced much in the way of a public pushback from his fellow Democrats… until today. Purple state Democrat Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) revealed on Thursday that she will not back Reid in his role as minority leader in the next Congress.The revelation came as a surprise when she was asked by reporters if she would stand by Reid. “I will not,” McCaskill replied.“Yesterday, I met with Harry Reid and told him I would not...
