Talk show hosts and right-wing websites have been leading the protests against those celebrities who have been most outspoken against the war in Iraq.At this year's Oscars, there were a number of protests against the war, most notably by Michael Moore, Susan Sarandon, Pedro Almodovar, and Barbra Streisand. That has infuriated conservative political activists who are now using the internet to organise protests, and in some case boycotts, of those who have spoken out against the war. Grassfire.net, one of the websites that has attacked celebrities for being anti-American, raised money to purchase a billboard opposite Hollywood's Kodak theatre to...

The war in Iraq -- or maybe just something in the Evian water -- put a lot of showbiz folks in a jittery mood last weekend and pushed a couple of Hollywood's leading lights over the edge. There was no shortage of unsettling news -- and ample opportunity to blame the messenger. In the wee hours yesterday at the post-Academy Awards party hosted by Vanity Fair Editor Graydon Carter, super-agent Ed Limato hurled his drink into the face of New York Post gossip Richard Johnson. Minutes later, actor-activist Tim Robbins threatened us with bodily injury.

COMMENTARY A Celebrity, but First a Citizen Being famous does not bar an American from speaking out against an unjust war. By Martin Sheen Martin Sheen plays the president in NBC's "West Wing." March 17, 2003 I am not the president; instead, I hold an even higher office, that of citizen of the United States. For most of us in this country, citizenship is a birthright. However, this does not cloak the citizen with a life free of responsibility.

Martin Sheen's politicking against the war on terrorism may have cost him a lucrative endorsement contract.

Sheen and his son Charlie starred in a spot for Visa's Check Card which was cited as one of the top TV commercials of 2002. But it was abruptly canceled last week.

It's a place where the Clinton presidency lives on in the personage of Martin Sheen and where JFK is always a hero. It's where problems really can be fixed by throwing money at them and where the rest of the world wants peace, too. It's where death-row inmates have been "framed'' and pedophiles are victims under Megan's Law. It's where raising taxes improves an economy and where unlimited social programs still leave the budget balanced. In short, it's where liberal policies work, because what sounds good on paper and works in theory also works in the movies and on TV.

Now that we know what actors Martin Sheen and Sean Penn think about a possible war with Iraq, the burning question is what do their fellow celebrities Robert Blake and O.J. Simpson have to say about it? Given their high-profile status as Hollywood murder suspects, surely they would bring a unique Tinseltown perspective to the great debate over America's new hard-line foreign policy. That's certainly the case with Penn. No doubt his anti-war stance was forged and fashioned in the fires of his own violent behaviour over the years. This is the film star, after all, who long before he...

Here's a list of The West Wing's Advertisers. Let them know that by lining Mr. Sheen's pockets with ad dollars they support his anti-American activities and views, and you won't be patronizing them anytime soon.

Pressure is growing for the president to lose his job because of his uncompromising stance on the war. That's President Bartlet, as played by Martin Sheen in the hit television series, The West Wing. Sheen has been a leading figure in the anti-war movement, addressing rallies and spearheading the "virtual march" on Washington last week in which legislators were deluged with a million emails, phone calls and faxes. NBC is under pressure to sack him from its show or face a boycott or withdrawal of advertising. Sheen said the channel's executives had indicated that his high profile could damage the...

Setting the Record Straight By Christopher Westland Those on the left insist they have the A.N.S.W.E.R. for all of us. But the veneer of their thought process has worn extremely thin, along with the patience of most rational minds. It's not an exaggeration to say that anti-Americanism has been the main marching tune of the modern left for decades. Almost uniformly, they insist that America, her competitive private corporations, and the capital system are evil. But the left has conveniently exempted the nationalized corporations of socialist states and third world dictators — the true monopolies of the world. Pretending...

Actor Martin Sheen says he's received an avalanche of hate mail and has been accosted on the street for his public stance against the war on Iraq. The star of NBC's "West Wing" program also believes network executives are concerned that his outspoken views may harm viewership of his show. In a report in today's Los Angeles Times, Sheen claims critics have demanded NBC fire him. The show's staff has been "100 percent supportive," but top network executives have "let it be known they're very uncomfortable with where I'm at" on the war, he said. Sheen also told the Times...

Web users protest celeb activism Mon Feb 24, 2:47 AM ET By Paul Bond LOS ANGELES (The Hollywood Reporter) --- If Sean Penn (news), Mike Farrell (news), Martin Sheen (news) and other celebrity activists are interested in what the masses think of their noisy antiwar activism, they might want to surf the Internet -- though they probably won't like what they read. Internet bloggers are mostly denouncing the celebrity activists, and some are even calling for boycotts of movies and TV shows featuring specific actors. One angry Internet surfer even advocates a boycott of Blockbuster and Wal-Mart for daring to...

We the undersigned American Citizens stand against Wealthy Hollywood Celebrities abusing their status to speak for us. We do not believe that they have a clear understanding of how we live, what we fear, and what we support. We believe that celebrities Martin Sheen, Mike Farrell, Tim Robbins, Rob Reiner, Barbara Streisand, and others with them are using their celebrity to interfere with the defense of our country. We believe that Hollywood Celebrities use their wealth to make their own personal issues known while Americans would never have the resources to speak out in this manner. We support President Bush...
