Joseph Scott Pemberton, who has been detained since shortly after the October incident, killed Jennifer Laude, whose former name was Jeffrey, in the motel room where the victim's body was found in Olongapo city, northwest of Manila.

In Tacna, Arizona, I saw this fellow openly carrying what appears to be a stainless Colt Mustang in .380. I asked, and he said that he had served in the Marine Corps, as indicated by the tattoo. He was driving the four-wheeler, which can be licensed for dual use, on and off road, in Arizona, a capability not available in many Eastern states. Notice the folding, lockback pocket knife clipped in his front right pocket for ease of access, one handed opening, and safe use while the blade is locked. It is a snapshot of freedom that has been...

Critics said the M-14 was what happened when the U.S. government took many years and spent millions of dollars designing a rifle that was really just a glorified M-1 Garand from World War II. The M-14 was the U.S. military’s last battle rifle. It appeared in 1959—the contemporary of the Pentagon’s first jet fighters and ICBMs. With its heavy steel parts and walnut stock, the M-14 looked positively archaic. It was hardly a Space Age weapon. And it only endured as America’s battle rifle until 1970, when the M-16 completely superseded it—the shortest service record of any U.S. military rifle...

Donald Trump is stepping up to help newly-released Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi. Besides facing the aftermath of the seven-month Mexican prison incarceration that he suffered, Tahmooressi is also facing PTSD from his two tours in Afghanistan. Donald Trump has now sent Tahmooressi a check for $25,000. Whether or not the money is to be used for treatment is unknown. Either way, the gesture is first class. ************************ Donald J. He was imprisoned in Mexico and has been there for almost 8 months. After the judge made the ruling, which did not address the question of guit or innocence of the charges against him, the family issued...

The mother of a U.S. Marine who has been imprisoned in Mexico since late March said Tuesday that she’s hopeful her son, Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi, can be released before Veterans Day. Tahmooressi was captured after crossing the U.S.-Mexico border with weapons, and while he said he crossed the border in error, he was arrested for carrying weapons in violation of Mexican law. His case has made significant progress over the last few weeks. Earlier this month, U.S. lawmakers said it was their impression that Mexico was moving toward a decision to release Tahmooressi, and was only seeking proof from the...

A retired Marine in Maryland is paying the price for honoring a fellow Marine who fell in combat. Heath Silcot was part of the detail escorting Staff Sergeant David Stewart to his final resting place. Riding with other former Marines, Silcot crossed the Bay Bridge. “Someone asked one of the officers about tolls and they said, ‘I can’t imagine them giving us a toll; we’re not gonna stop,’” he said. Maryland Transportation Authority sent Silcot a $9 toll for crossing the bridge. When Silcot disputed the ticket, they gave him another $50 ticket for missing their deadline for him to...
