We make fun of the NCAA because they are an easy punching bag. They lack consistency, transparency and an understanding of the basic concepts of common sense. You would think it difficult for them to find a new low after years of draconian punishments mixed with unsatisfactory wrist slaps but never doubt the potential depths to which Mark Emmert’s organization can plunge. Steven Rhodes is a 24-year-old Marine sergeant. He finished his five-year commitment to the armed forces this summer and called up Middle Tennessee State’s football coaches and asked if they had a spot for him as a walk-on....

Every day it seems more like the "war on terror" is at home in the U.S. rather than abroad in a foreign country. Whether it's the NSA denying they scoop domestic communications while their chief tells hackers "we're looking for the terrorist among us," or it's the growing militarization and equipping of domestic police forces, it seems more and more crows keep coming home to roost. Well, one former Marine colonel has had about enough. In a rousing confrontation at a local council meeting in Concord, NH, he calls out his government for facilitating what he feels is a needless...

Are the current personnel cuts the beginning of the end for the U.S. Marines? Could these actually be the last days of the U.S. Marine Corps? A decade ago, such a notion would have been absolutely unthinkable, but times have changed. The Marine Corps was already in the process of drawing down from a peak of 202,100 Marines to 182,100, and now Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel is warning that the sequester cuts may force the Army to be cut down to a size of 380,000 and the Marine Corps to be cut down to a size of 150,000. Unfortunately for...

The Marines call Naval Criminal Investigative Service to conduct the probe into a fatal training accident, officials with Headquarters Marine Corps said Wednesday afternoon. The investigation has been ongoing since a 66mm mortar shell exploded in its tube Monday night during training at the Hawthorne Army Depot in Nevada, killing seven Marines and wounding eight more.

A Marine who was fined and demoted for urinating on Taliban corpses in Afghanistan in 2011 says he would do it again. “I regret maybe any repercussions it might have had on the Marines. But do I regret doing it? Hell no,” Sgt. Joseph Chamblin told WSOC-TV in Charlotte, N.C., adding that he would do it again. The infamous incident was videotaped and uploaded to YouTube last year, becoming international news and raising fears of retaliation by Afghan troops against their coalition trainers. “These were the same guys that were killing our family, killing our brothers,” said Sgt. Chamblin, who...

It’s apparent Eliud Martir Montalvo never heard of the old warning about taking a knife to a gunfight. It was a retired Marine who was carrying a concealed weapon that brought a halt to Montalvo’s alleged crime spree, which included a series of attempted carjackings in Orange County, Fla., this week. According to WFTV-TV in Orlando, the suspect allegedly tried to steal four cars, one after another, on Tuesday. Eliud Martir Montalvo Authorities said the attacks all were within a block of one another, and the episode was halted when a Marine Corps veteran, Andrew Koplin, pointed his concealed weapon...

Today is a day I will remember with impunity. A so-called Marine goes on a shooting rampage in Texas killing an innocent woman and wounding several others before him being killed. Obviously this deranged individual wasn’t a true Marine by any measure. A true Marine does not shoot and kill innocence. The military—especially the Marine Corps is quickly being transformed from once great institutions into Violent Immoral petri dishes. This is the Obama way and the rest of the Progressive movement’s desire to take the country. The silencing of military Chaplin’s regarding appeasement of Islam, the integration of homosexuals and...

When Marine Sgt. Ross Gundlach served as a dog handler in Afghanistan, he told the yellow lab who was his constant companion that he'd look her up when he returned home. "I promised her if we made it out of alive, I'd do whatever it took to find her," Gundlach said. On Friday, he made good on that vow with help from some sentimental state officials in Iowa who know how to pull off a surprise.

Could you imagine if this were the scene? (yes we can!)This whole thing goes right in line with this post I did about the study showing strong men tend to be conservative.

'It made him look like a butler': Retired general blasts President Obama for ordering U.S. Marine to break military rules by holding an umbrella The President unwittingly forced two U.S Marines to break protocol and regulations as he ordered them to use umbrellas Former United States Air Force Lieutenant Thomas McInerney criticized the President for making the officers look like butlers By DAVID MARTOSKO, JAMES NYE and DANIEL BATES 16 May 2013 President Obama humiliated the marine who he asked to hold his umbrella by making him ‘look like a butler’, a respected military general claimed today. Even though he is the commander in chief, there are some orders that even President Obama cannot give - as he found out today, much to the mirth of a put-upon U.S. Marine. Hosting Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the Rose Garden today, the president requested a standing Marine to open an umbrella and protect his head from the light rain that was falling. However, according to Marine Corps regulations, not even the President of the United States can request a serving officer to carry an umbrella without the express permission of the Commandant of the Marine Corps....

Marines presented an uncommon site on Thursday when the call of duty called for an umbrella over the President's head. Rain broke through the sun Thursday while President Obama and his guest, the Turkish prime minister, stepped from the Oval Office into the Rose Garden for a news conference. And while Obama attempted to ignore the rain for a moment, he was eventually distracted. Not one to be deterred by the weather, Obama improvised instead. Because the Turkish prime minister may not have a change of clothes, Obama noted jokingly, he decided to call over two marines instead. He then...

Marine Veteran Shaun Adkins had some tough questions for West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) regarding the future of the country. Adkins expressed his concern with outrageous spending in Washington, the Obama administration's policy on coal, unsecured borders and the climate change "hoax" in the four minute video posted to YouTube.

Orange County supervisors have unanimously approved a proposed settlement in a federal wrongful death lawsuit filed by the family of Manuel Loggins Jr., an unarmed Marine sergeant who was shot to death by a sheriff’s deputy in a darkend high school parking lot. The suit, which also names the county and the Sheriff's Department, said that Loggins didn't pose a threat to Sandberg in the early morning incident in 2012. Loggins, described by friends as a disciplined and religious career Marine, had recently begun taking his family on prayer walks at the field. His two daughters were in the SUV...

(CNN) -- I am the mother of three amazing children. Before having children, I was a firm believer that guns were dangerous. But I did nothing to educate myself about guns or gun safety. I feared the unknown and the danger guns seemed to possess. But after 10 years, I now have a gun in my home. Listening to President Obama's news conference on Thursday marking 100 days after Sandy Hook, and the whole gun control debate, prompted me to get my viewpoint across. I married a U.S. Marine. He of course was a firm believer in his right to...
