The COVID-19 vaccine can cause swollen lymph nodes under the arm that received the injection, according to the American Cancer Society. “Swollen lymph nodes under the arm might show up on a mammogram done to screen for breast cancer, which could cause concern and might lead to the need for further tests,” the American Cancer Society says on its website. Lisa Mullen, a radiologist at Johns Hopkins University, said those enlarged lymph nodes can result in a false-positive mammogram. Swollen lymph nodes are a natural reaction for the body in response to the COVID-19 vaccine, according to Kaiser Permanente.

Getting a mammogram soon after getting the COVID-19 vaccine? Be warned: The vaccine might cause your lymph nodes to swell, which may be confused for a sign of breast cancer. “Getting the COVID-19 vaccine can cause temporary lymph node enlargement and result in a ‘false positive’ mammogram,” Lisa Ann Mullen, MD, explained in an article published by Johns Hopkins Medicine on the topic. The enlargement may cause “your mammogram to appear abnormal even when you are OK and there is no indication of cancer.” While the reaction is “nothing to worry about” and is a common effect of all vaccinations,...

SALT LAKE CITY — Intermountain Healthcare doctors announced new mammogram guidelines Tuesday in response to a surprising new side effect of the COVID-19 vaccine. They say women who recently received a COVID-19 vaccine may have to reschedule their yearly mammogram. “When one receives a vaccination there is an inflammatory response in the arm,” said Dr. Brett Parkinson, medical director of Intermountain Healthcare’s Breast Care Center. In the past four weeks, doctors have seen swollen lymph nodes on screening mammograms of women who have recently been vaccinated. “Whenever we see these on a normal screening mammogram we call those patients back...
  • Politifact just broke logic with its latest ‘fact check’ on Planned Parenthood and mammograms

Trigger warning: People upset by accounts of extreme stupidity and politically craven spin may want to skip this column. Even people with a really even temperament may want to apply a layer of duct tape to their foreheads at once. That Planned Parenthood does not perform mammograms is indisputable. Its officials admit it; its president has even confessed as much before Congress under oath. But when a pro-life advocate says the same thing, PolitiFact, the self-appointed arbiter of truth and falsehood on the political scene, officially rated his comments "half-true." The controversy began when Casey Mattox, senior counsel with the...

Planned Parenthood still claims they provide access to life-saving mammograms. In 2012, they issued a press release that read, “Planned Parenthood helps women nationwide get access to mammograms, as part of the range of health care Planned Parenthood health centers provide to nearly three million people a year.” Obama echoed their rhetoric during his second presidential campaign. He said, “There are millions of women all across the country who rely on Planned Parenthood for mammograms, for cervical cancer screenings.” Then, earlier this week, the Secretary of Obama’s Health and Human Services department defended federal funding for the abortion giant by...

(CNSNews.com) – The Department of Health and Human Services’ most recent guidelines explaining the “preventive services” mandate under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act—or Obamacare—says health insurance plans must provide co-pay-free pap smears and mammograms to “transgender men.” As defined by the federal Office of Personnel Management: “a person assigned the female sex at birth but who identifies as male is a transgender man.” The guidelines, written as a FAQ sheet, state: Q5: Can plans or issuers limit sex-specific recommended preventive services based on an individual's sex assigned at birth, gender identity or recorded gender? No. Whether a sex-specific...

In 1999, newspaper columnist Molly Ivins was diagnosed with breast cancer and promptly exhorted her readers: "Go. Get. The. Damn. Mammogram. Done." She also quoted a friend, columnist Marlyn Schwartz, who lamented, "If you have ever wondered what it would feel like to sit in a doctor's office with a lump in your breast trying to remember when you last had a mammogram, I can tell you. You feel like a fool." Ivins' breast cancer killed her in 2007. She didn't say whether she had gotten regular mammograms before her diagnosis. If so, she was spared something many a dying...

President Barack Obama, Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards, and countless supporters have claimed again and again that Planned Parenthood provides mammograms. President Obama did so in the second presidential debate, describing the “millions of women all across the country who rely on Planned Parenthood for . . . mammograms.” The problem is the mammogram claim is untrue, as was just cleverly highlighted by “Schedule Your Imaginary Mammogram Day,” a phone campaign that found no Planned Parenthood clinics capable of breast cancer screening. Planned Parenthood has neither the license nor the machines. The most the abortion giant has ever done is...

The Hollywood Women for Obama Club wants you to vote with your "lady parts." I want the women of America to vote with their lady smarts. The latest ad from a trio of Tinsel Town actresses spreads one of the stupidest lies about Mitt Romney this election cycle. Fantasyland needs a fact check. According to starlets Scarlett Johansson, Eva Longoria and Kerry Washington, the GOP presidential ticket wants to "end" funding for "cancer screenings." If you and your reproductive organs don't vote for Obama, the doe-eyed celebrities ominously imply, people will DIE, DIE, DIE! This scare-mongering falsehood has been repeated...

Zipping right along on the Unplanned Journey, October brings a reminder of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Because my cancer was diagnosed with a mammogram, I'm on the soapbox and dedicated to every woman having that test. While some insist that it's painful, and for them it may be, it beats letting cancer get a head start. And it's quick. My advice: Think positive thoughts, breathe in, relax, exhale through the mouth. And repeat. ----------advertisement----------- As for the cost of a mammogram, if you are without insurance and unable to pay for it yourself, check with the county health nurse in...

Smelling blood after a Jerry Brown associate used the word “whore” in connection with Meg Whitman’s campaign strategy, Republican sources have provided a 15-year-old video of the Democratic gubernatorial hopeful dismissing mammograms in an old interview. The trip to the vault comes as Brown’s camp has been on defense after The Los Angeles Times reported on a conversation between him and an associate, inadvertently left on a police union official’s voice mail, in which he discussed Whitman and the unions and suggested she’ll cut a deal over pensions. Another person is heard on the recording saying, “What about calling her...

Los Angeles, CA (AP) -- California officials plan to suspend new enrollments for a program that tests low-income women for breast cancer and to tighten eligibility standards when the program reopens. The Every Woman Counts program won't enroll new clients from Jan. 1 until July 2, 2010, and will restrict enrollment to women over the age of 50 thereafter. Previously, women had to be 40 years old to be eligible for the program. California Department of Public Health director Dr. Mark Horton said in a statement that declining state tobacco tax revenues and increased demand were to blame for cutbacks.

WASHINGTON -- Senators voted to safeguard coverage of mammograms and preventive screening tests for women under any health care overhaul legislation. The 61-39 vote Thursday on an amendment by Democratic Sen. Barbara Mikulski of Maryland and Republican Sen. Olympia Snowe of Maine would allow the Health and Human Services secretary to require insurers to cover preventive health screenings free of charge.

The PR machine of the left has pulled out all stops to promote Obama Care. Yet I know that viral marketing can overcome anything that Madison Avenue can produce. What is needed is a symbol of the opposition to ObamaCare. It needs to be simple and reproducible in any medium, format, or protocol. I believe that 'xJ', a simple symbolization of a mastectomy serves that purpose. Having witnessed the devastating effects of breast cancer and other manageable or preventable diseases I realize that we must do all we can to make sure that the consequences of government managed healthcare is...

Here is a video report that mentions a new study out today that says women can wait until 21 to be screened for Cervical Cancer, and only need to have "Pap Smear" tests every two years during their 20's. This report comes on the heels of a separate report that urges women not start having mammograms until age 50, and then every two years. It also says self-exam is not necessary. The video reports on a backlash brewing across the country against the new mammogram guidelines. . . . (VIDEO)

We guessed it. Both sides of the Great Political Divide went crazy and blamed either “big government rationing” or “big insurance profits” as the reason for the new paper’s recommendations. Both sides were at pains to say how much they were “for” women (I am too!). Both sides suspected a deeper conspiracy because of the timing of the paper. Nobody stopped to consider that both conspiracies can’t be true simultaneously, and that maybe—just maybe—the people who wrote the article believed what they were saying. Or, even stronger, that its findings might be correct. Absolutely nobody I heard even made even...

Emotions, as they say, run high, especially about “health.” There is a great deal of superfluous, extraneous, and irrelevant discussion taking place with regard to the new mammogram guidelines. Yesterday, many organizations rushed to the microphone to say, “Don’t worry! We still recommend every women gets mammograms as frequently as possible.” They were worried lest women think they did not care. Let’s examine this phenomenon. There is a range in how much people care about their own physical being, from hypochondria to indifference. I’ll use the term hypochondriac to mean not just those who suffer from the mental disease of...

It's a death sentence. Our first taste of Obamacare -- the government as the arbitrer of what health care we do and don't need -- will kill thousands of women. It is a death list by another name. A federal task force has declared that for most women mammograms are unnecessary before the age of 50 and should only be administered every other year after that. Further, breast self-exams are no longer recommended. In a fight with a horrific disease in which early detection is the most-effective tool, America's women have been told by their government to forget about it....

Here is video of NBC's Dr. Nancy Snyderman talking about a Government Task Force report that now recommends a "seismic shift" in Mammogram Guidelines for women. Snyderman rather coldly explains the report, which now says women don't need to start having mammograms until age 50 (it has been 40), only need one every two years, and don't need to do self-exams. When asked why the change when some women have survived breast cancer because of early detection through mammograms and self-exams, Snyderman said the task force research shows that only 1 in 1900 women under age 50 have a detected...
