WASHINGTON -- Senators voted to safeguard coverage of mammograms and preventive screening tests for women under any health care overhaul legislation.

The 61-39 vote Thursday on an amendment by Democratic Sen. Barbara Mikulski of Maryland and Republican Sen. Olympia Snowe of Maine would allow the Health and Human Services secretary to require insurers to cover preventive health screenings free of charge.

Feces hitting the fan against these corrupt morons in the US Congress. That’s why they’re trying to cover their rears; OMG, the truth got out. Count on Zero, Pelosi, and Reid to cling to their Death Panels to facilitate cutting social security going to the elderly.

I am closer and closer to quitting my job, so that i don’t have to pay for this. I’ve already given my child-molesting Senator my name and address so that he can come try and arrest me for noncompliance.

BTW, I only have one Senator - the other is a seat warmer.

At the risk of offending some, why is one sex being given preferential treatment? Do not men deserve the same consideration for issues peculiar to them?

Ah, yes, women's health. Fitting that, as a euphemism for "abortion", this would become ground zero of the decline of civilization.

First, they said "no mammograms 'til you're 50." Then they said, "no, we didn't mean it that way." Now they're saying, "ultrasound is much cheaper and has found 100% of the tumors it found."

Am I the only person - not even a woman, mind you - shaking his head saying to himself, "every authoritative voice is untrustworthy?"

And that's the thing about civilization - a sophisticated ordering of individuals and families - it's all based upon trust; upon speaking the same language and agreeing what that language means. When the language means everything and nothing...civilization starts to seize up and break down. People pull in their horns, circle their wagons, and look for safe havens.

It only sounds like a rant...

Quite. ‘tis disturbing that a “health care” bill must have amendments assuring continuation of specific basic preventative care, and raises questions of what else isn’t covered that presumably would be - and why.

Methinks this is the final straw which will break this bill: if one test/treatment required guarantees of coverage, now every other conceivable test/treatment must also be addressed, and the authors/sponsors grilled on why such concerns came up in the first place.

The article seems to have undergone extensive editing since you posted it.

WASHINGTON -- The Senate approved Thursday an amendment favored by Democrats that is intended to boost women's health efforts, while Senate Democrats stayed nearly unified on an early abortion litmus test on health overhaul legislation.

The amendment, sponsored by Sen. Barbara Mikulski, (D., Md.) would devote $1 billion to women's health efforts and allow the Health and Human Services secretary to require that health plans cover preventive services for women's health, such as mammograms and pap smears. It was approved 61-39 in the first vote on an amendment to the $848 billion health overhaul legislation.

no problem, we’ll just pass a law requiring some private entity to provide it free of charge!

Nope. While men will vote for woman’s issues.

Women will not vote to help men.

“no problem, we’ll just pass a law requiring some private entity to provide it free of charge!”

That is what I keyed on too. Just mandate private industry to provide the service for free. Socialist scum. If any of them were even remotely honorable they would hurl at the mere thought of this.

What the private insurers will do is up the cost on everything else to cover the now imposed cost on their business.

Throw Congress out, all of them unless they have proven to have fought against this type Marxism.
