  • HURT: Watch out for Mama Grizzly Palin’s bite

You don’t exactly have to be Grizzly Adams to know that if you go out to shoot an Alaskan bear, there is one rule that rises above all others. Whatever you do, just don’t wound the bear. Kill it, miss it, don’t shoot, run and hide, whatever. But if you hit it, you better kill it. Because the last thing you want coming after you is an angry wounded Alaskan bear with nothing to lose. This is particularly true of the famed mother grizzly bears of which Sarah Palin has warned us Lower 48’ers about.
  • Five myths about Sarah Palin

Think you know Sarah Palin? The former Alaska governor has been in the spotlight ever since John McCain named her as his running mate on Aug. 29, 2008. Yet, while practically everybody has an opinion about Palin, not all of those opinions are grounded in reality. Many of them are based more on a "Saturday Night Live" caricature than on the living, breathing, 46-year-old mother of five. The real Sarah Palin is a complex woman who has risen in no time from obscurity to the stratosphere of American politics, fusing celebrity and populism in novel ways. Now that she's laying...

  • Sarah Palin effect sees record number of women stand as Republican candidates

Mrs Palin is not running for office, but her vice presidential candidacy in 2008 as an anti-abortion, mother-of-five from a conventional background has played a central role in persuading more women with similar outlooks to step into the limelight. Often controversial, outspoken and resolutely Right-wing, Republican women are beginning to overhaul the image of the party. After its heavy losses in 2008 to the Democrats, the Grand Old Party was written off as too male, too old and too out of touch. A record 140 women have competed in Republican primaries for the House of Representatives and the Senate this...

*Majority of viewers respond positively to Palin's new ad * A new national study among 300 self-reported Democrats, Republicans and Independents revealed that after viewing a new ad featuring Sarah Palin and produced by SarahPAC, viewers were more likely to vote for Palin if she ran for president in 2012. The study was conducted during July 9-12 by HCD Research using its MediaCurves.com® website, to obtain Americans’ perceptions of a new ad by SarahPAC, a political action committee, which was focused on mobilizing conservative women. Respondents were asked to rate Sarah Palin on a scale from 1-7 regarding likeability, believability...

Sarah Palin's "Mama Grizzlies" video is instructive inasmuch as it reveals a great deal about Sarah and the sort of campaign that she would run should she choose to throw her hat into the ring for 2012. First, the video makes it clear, as have the string of victories achieved by candidates that Palin has endorsed across the nation, that the former governor is a highly skilled politician. Given that she comes from a modest background and is pretty much entirely self-made, we can infer that her political skills come naturally to her and are not the consequence of, say,...

There's something very tortuous about watching some of the talking heads assembled on NBC's "The Chris Matthews Show," especially when they try to dissect former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin like she is some alien life form. On the July 11 broadcast of his weekend show, Matthews and his panel analyzed Palin's "Mama Grizzlies" ad spot and attempted to determine what Palin's end goal was with the ad. And Time magazine's Joe Klein attributed credit to Palin's charismatic ability. "The most important thing about Sarah Palin is that she's a great stand-up politician," Klein said. "I mean, when you hear her...

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- The chairman of the Republican National Committee chair Michael Steele pledges big bucks to support Carly Fiorina's senate campaign against Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer. Steele was in San Francisco Thursday morning, talking about California politics and the money it will take to win in November. Show me the money, but of course he wouldn't -- to ABC7 anyway. The question is will he show Fiorina the money? The two are scheduled to sit down together on Friday. Steele told reporters financial help for GOP candidates is coming. "We're going to be in play here, big time...

Over at The Washington Post, Chris Cillizza has some interesting thoughts up today on Sarah Palin and the "mama grizzlies." Said grizzlies are — Palin's definition — conservative, pro-gun, pro-life women. Palin first described herself as one at least as far back as October 2008; lately she's been bestowing the name on her like-minded supporters. But Cillizza is the first to suggest that her endorsement of several GOP electoral candidates is part of a broader effort to become den mother to a sleuth of political mama bears. I think he's onto something. The candidates Palin has endorsed — Carly Fiorina...
