I think Selleck played volleyball at USC. He was an athlete. And a talented actor as well obviously. He was Jaclyn Smith's love interest on a Charlies Angels episode. Doesn't get any better than that.

The famed Magnum Research Desert Eagle handgun has a lineage that goes back over 35 years with lots of twists and turns, but its future is bright. Large-caliber semi-automatic pistols, up until the mid-1960s, were exceedingly rare. Prior to that, the category consisted largely of the rarely-encountered Mars pistol. Then came Harry Sandford's short-lived Auto-Mag (made in Pasadena of all places!) which was short-recoil operated and featured a rotary bolt, enabling it to shoot a rimless shortened equivalent of the .44 Magnum, the .44 AMP. Following up on that in the 1970s was Wildey Moore's eponymous gas-powered autoloading pistol,...

So grandma recently bought a Smith & Wesson Model 60 - 3” to take care of the mice problem in the kitchen. She’s looking for recommendations on a good conceal carry holster. Pulling the piece from her apron pocket takes too much time. Besides, she keeps her pipe in that pocket and doesn’t want to pull out the wrong tool when the mice are running. Probably something in an open top design would do the trick, as the mice are quick and run away fast when they see her go for the revolver. Any recommendation for manufacturers of holsters would...

The last time the National Transportation Safety Board came down hard on engineering and construction was in 2007. That year, the board delivered reports on the collapse of the I-35 Highway Bridge in Minneapolis that killed 13 people, and on a ceiling collapse in a Boston Central Artery tunnel that killed one motorist. Both involved completed structures. With its final investigation findings, the board also made recommendations for new standards and procedures and quality control. NTSB's report on last year’s Miami bridge collapse at Florida International University in mid-construction, which killed five motorists and one construction worker, has similar recommendations....

(CNN)Actor John Hillerman died of natural causes Thursday at his home in Houston, Texas, his publicist, Lori De Waal, said. He was 84 years old. Hillerman was best known for his Emmy Award-winning work in the long-running detective series "Magnum, P.I." The stage-trained actor first made an impression as arrogant radio show detective Simon Brimmer on the NBC revival of "Ellery Queen" in 1975. Hillerman then took on notable roles as the boss of Bonnie Franklin on the long-running CBS sitcom "One Day at a Time," and trading sarcastic quips with Betty White in the short-lived sitcom "The Betty White...

Forty-five guys dressed up as “Magnum P.I.” during a bachelor party Saturday night and went to the Detroit Tigers game against the Chicago White Sox at Comerica Park. They wore Hawaiian shirts, Tigers caps and pressed-on mustaches. They even carried around a life-size cutout of Tom Selleck as Thomas Magnum, the lead character from his popular ’80s private-detective drama. Amazingly we haven’t even gotten to the oddest part of the story yet. The 45 Magnums were ejected from the game by stadium security, as the groom’s younger brother told the Detroit-adjacent News-Herald, because one of them was smoking and they...

While Mark Cuban said he sees some value in President Donald Trump's economic policies, he's not a fan of his social stances — or the president personally. "The economic policies of his that are pretty much traditionally conservative I like.... But in terms of him personally, he's the Zoolander president," Cuban said to a South by Southwest Festival audience in Austin, Texas on Sunday. Cuban spoke on a panel alongside car insurance marketplace The Zebra's Adam Lyons. Lyons scored Cuban as an investor in his company after cold emailing him a one paragraph pitch. Cuban, who called himself a libertarian,...

As a general rule, people have the right to protect themselves from animals that attack them. As might be expected, they have more leeway to use deadly force against animals than against other humans. Most states also allow property owners to protect their property from marauding animals, whether the animals are wild or property of another person. Damage caused by domesticated animals can be grounds for a civil suit. This situation occurred in New York. From thedailynewsonline.com: ALEXANDER — The man who shot and killed his next-door-neighbor’s dog as it attacked him last week will not face any...

Alright, I am going to set myself up here for flaming and such - especially by certain @$$wipes who enjoy making themselves feel superior - by I have a couple questions concerning firearms. Basic question one - what is the difference between a pistol and a revolver? Basic question two - what is the difference between single action and double action? Basic question three - which should a beginner go with - revolver, pistol, SA, or DA?

LOS ANGELES, California (Hollywood Reporter) -- Rawson Marshall Thurber ("Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story") has signed on to write and direct the big-screen adaptation of "Magnum P.I.," the 1980s series that made Tom Selleck a star. Despite high U.S. gasoline prices, DaimlerChrysler's Chrysler division on Wednesday said demand for its muscular Hemi V-8 engines was outstripping supply. "What we see is a tremendous shortage of our Hemis," Chrysler President and Chief Executive Dieter Zetsche told reporters. "It's a great problem to have," he added, saying Chrysler had underestimated demand for the big 5.7 liter engine, which is available in Dodge pickups and sport utility vehicles as well as the recently introduced Chrysler 300C sedan and Dodge Magnum sport wagon. Zetsche spoke on the sidelines of celebrations at two Detroit-area assembly plants, as Chrysler launched production of...

City of Pewaukee - A year ago today Margaret Farrow moved into the newly remodeled lieutenant governor's office in Madison. But Wisconsin's first female to fill the No. 2 position in state government vowed earlier this year that her 27-year political career had come to an end when Barbara Lawton was elected to succeed her last November. Nevertheless, after being encouraged to oppose U.S. Senator Russ Feingold, who is up for election next year, she said she might invoke a woman's prerogative to change her mind. "I am leaving the door open a crack," she said this week when asked...

DIRTY Harry has a new gun - and it is the biggest, most powerful revolver in the world. Its .50 calibre bullets are capable of stopping a charging bear dead in its tracks. The gun, made by Smith & Wesson, dwarfs the .44 calibre Magnum previously known as the most powerful revolver and used by Clint Eastwood in the 'Dirty Harry' films. The new gun weighs 4lb and is 15in long, with almost double the firepower of most assault rifles on the American market. The enormous revolver costs $989, holds five bullets, and, with a force of 2,600lb per square...

'Safety bullet' invention aims to prevent accidental shootings A Florida man claims to have designed a safety bullet which locks up a gun when it's accidentally fired. Mike Worley says his simple invention takes gun safety to another level. He came up with the idea after a local boy was shot in his elbow while showing off his dad's .357 Magnum. The safety bullet can be hidden in the gun chamber and ejected quickly if the owner needs to fire a live bullet. If the safety bullet is fired, it jams the chamber and locks the gun until the shell...
