Abigail Adams, best known for her articulate writing and her involvement in the presidency of her husband, John, is the subject of a yearlong commemoration by the Massachusetts Historical Society that begins Sunday with a walking tour that explores the Adams family’s presence in Boston. “It’s a long walking tour, but it’s a really fun one,” said Nancy Haywood, a lead guide for the two-hour excursion. “It’s a nice way to really explore the city and learn more about this significant family.” The tour, organized by Boston By Foot, runs just two times annually, but this year, with the 200th...

Talk to neighbors and transportation activists, and you’ll get pretty much the same answer: The best option for replacing the aging Massachusetts Turnpike viaduct in Allston is a new stretch of highway at ground level. Ask state Transportation Secretary Stephanie Pollack, who will make the final call, and, well, she’s still wondering if the state should just build another viaduct. Pollack will know more soon, when a consultant is expected to weigh in with a deep analysis of the options for the $1 billion-plus project to straighten the turnpike where it curls around an old rail yard in Allston, the...

Massachusetts state police have identified the Manchester teen they claim stabbed one of their troopers multiple times last Friday afternoon before being shot after a car chase across three states. Massachusetts State Police said Sunday night that Nghia Le, 18, of Manchester remains hospitalized at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester after being shot following an alleged attack on a Massachusetts state trooper in New Salem, Mass. Le is facing charges of armed assault with intent to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and is being held on $1 million bail pending his arraignment sometime early this...

U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren accused Republican challenger Geoff Diehl of attending a rally sponsored by an anti-Muslim hate group during a debate Friday night. Her source for the description of the rally sponsor is the Southern Poverty Law Center, which is itself a hate group, as well as a serial bearer of false witness. But no matter that. Let’s talk about where the alleged hate rally took place. Warren brought it up while talking about President Donald Trump’s attempted travel ban on six predominately Muslim countries where terrorism flourishes. Warren was against the travel ban. But it’s not enough to...

Democratic U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren said Sunday that she changed her mind recently and took a DNA test proving her heritage because Americans’ trust in government is “at an all-time low” and she wanted to help rebuild it by being transparent. The incumbent Massachusetts senator spoke at her second debate against Republican state Rep. Geoff Diehl in the U.S. Senate race. […] Ultimately, she said, she took a DNA test because she believes one way to rebuild trust in government is by posting her full family history online “so anybody can take a look. … I believe one way that...

Sen. Elizabeth Warren says the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency is “not making us safer” just weeks after ICE agents conducted a live-saving drug seizure. During a debate with her opponent, State Rep. Geoff Diehl (R-MA), Warren said ICE does not make the United States “safer,” moving back on her previous position that ICE should be abolished by now saying she wants to see the agency “reformed.” “I want to see this agency reformed,” Warren said. “Because an agency that can’t tell difference in the risk between a seven-year-old girl, between a woman going in for brain cancer surgery,...

BOSTON — Democratic U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren and her Republican challenger, state Rep. Geoff Diehl, are set to face off in their first debate of the campaign. The two will go head to head tonight at 8 in the televised debate on WSBK-TV. The debate will also be streamed live on www.CBSBoston.com. Warren, a potential candidate in the 2020 presidential campaign, is running for her second six-year term representing Massachusetts in the Senate. Diehl, who co-chaired President Donald Trump's 2016 Massachusetts presidential campaign, is hoping to unseat Warren who has been a frequent critic of Trump. Warren on Monday released...

Farrakhan tweets video calling Jews 'termites' Harvard Law professor and longtime Democrat Alan Dershowitz blasted Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan Thursday, calling on "all decent people" to condemn him after his most recent anti-Semitic comments. At an event in Detroit, Farrakhan pushed back on those who say he's anti-Semitic by labeling Jews as "termites." "So when they talk about Farrakhan, call me a hater, you know what they do, call me an anti-Semite, stop it. I’m anti-termite. I don’t know nothing about hating somebody because of their religious preference," he said.

Elizabeth Ann Herring has been many things in her life. All of them fake. She represented an insurance company in an asbestos case before becoming a consumer rights crusader. She was paid $350,000 to teach a single course before deciding to fight student debt. She was a Republican, then became a socialist, and then announced, “I am a capitalist to my bones.” She’s also the fake minority professor who plagiarized the recipes of a French chef for the Pow Wow Chow cookbook and killed her shot at 2020 with a DNA test which claimed that she wasn’t lying about her...

The political world was confused Monday when Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren released the results of a controversial DNA test that was years in the making. [Snip] The Cherokee Nation issued a blistering statement calling Warren's decision ... "makes a mockery out of DNA tests and its legitimate uses while also dishonoring legitimate tribal governments and their citizens." [Snip] Then we headed inside the sprawling four story building to see if there was any sign of Warren in the museum. A detailed floor-by-floor, exhibit-by-exhibit search turned up no sign of Warren. However, then came one of our final stops,...

A CNN executive fired back after Buck Sexton, a former commentator for the network, criticized CNN’s coverage of Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s DNA test on Wednesday. The feud began with Sexton quote tweeting CNN on Warren, saying, “It’s a good thing CNN wasnt blatantly complicit in the massive, unforced error Warren pulled yesterday. That would’ve been really embarrassing. Oh, wait a minute.”

Authorities arrested Daniel Frisiello, 25, of Beverly, in March...Frisiello’s Facebook page stated that he worked as a program assistant at Catholic Charities Archdiocese of Boston and displayed a bevy of anti-Trump posts and links to the Democratic Party.

For folks on the right, Elizabeth Warren's proffered "proof" of American Indian ethnicity is both laughable and puzzling. Her proof is nothing of the kind, and she's seemingly reopened herself to merciless mockery by conservatives. On Monday, Tucker Carlson came up with at least a half-dozen silly pseudo-titles for Warren, from the well known fauxcahontas to leader of the #MeSioux movement. But Warren is playing a different game, one to the Democrat base, and using the time-tested Clinton playbook to do it. Whether it still works remains to be seen. The best Warren's hired expert could do was estimate that she had a single American...

Although her intention was to push back against Trump, Warren has provided an unwitting assist to those attempting to take away tribal sovereignty. Warren stated that she is not a member of any tribe, but her efforts to connect DNA and Native American heritage could nevertheless have unintended consequences. It is a common joke amongst Native people that the phrase “I’m 1/16th Cherokee” (or in Warren’s case, 1/64th to 1/1024th Cherokee - the DNA test can only offer up a possible range) is a “white proverb.” While the framing of Native identity that has emerged in discussions of Warren’s background...

So, Sen. Elizabeth Warren has announced she commissioned a DNA test to address her long-standing claims of having Cherokee ancestry. The Boston Globe reported that her DNA analysis "suggests she's between 1/64th and 1/1,024th Native American." The fraction 1/1,024 works out to 0.09 percent. So since Sen. Warren is .09 percent American Indian, she may now be eligible to own .09 percent of a casino. There are two ways to understand this story. Let's start with some sobering reality. Cherokee Nation Secretary of State Chuck Hoskin Jr. issued an angry afternoon statement saying: "A DNA test is useless to determine...
