What is a veto proof majority in Massachusetts?

In the House 105 members joined by 27 members of the Senate voting to override a governor's signature.

Mass Election History

To the Romney - Care haters, I merely ask you to look at his record and to consider the way things were when he entered office in 2004 - ie,
FREE health care for illegals ON DEMAND while demanding all kinds of documention from LEGAL citizens under the pains and penalties of perjury:

MH - 1

MH - 2

"IF we have asked for your SSN"

MH - 3

The affidavits above came from a package provided to all patients in Boston facing major surgery at the time my son had brain surgery in 2002.
Note that his care was 98% paid for (well over $250,000) by two private policies we held (via our employers), yet illegals without SSNs got the same medical treatment for free - this before "RomneyCare",
I present this just a matter of fact.

Consider that at the time health reform came up in Massachusetts in 2004 that the Democrats had a veto proof majority in the Mass Senate of + 21 seats and + 7 seats in the Mass House.

A bill was going to pass no matter what, it’s simple math and it really matters when considering Romney's record.

( ~ Fact ~ The Massachusetts Health Care Access & Affordabilty Act passed by 154 - 2 (160 seats total) in the Massachusetts House,
and by 37 - 0 (40 seats total) in the Massachusetts Senate in April of 2006, it would seem that 15 Republicans in the House
and 3 Republicans in the Senate joined the Democrats to pass health reform.

Mathematically @ BEST just (9) members of the Massachusetts Legislature opposed Health Reform in total from both parties with 191 in favor.

Had health care reform failed the SJC would have just reinvented language to make it so.

In fact Romney vetoed eight sections of his own bill (tacked on to his bill by Democrats) and all eight were overturned by the Democrats - fact.

Massachusetts Health Reform - 2004 thru 2006

Consider how much worse it would have been had the Legislature (or God forbid the SJC) had authored Massachusetts Health Reform.

My point is there would have been no socialized medicine in Mass had the Legislature been controlled by a conservative majority (Yes I know how crazy that sounds) but Obama would not be as dangerous to this nation now if Congress was controlled by a conservative majority.

I'm not saying Romney is blameless - just consider the condition Weld, Cellucci, & Swift (RINO all) left Massachusetts.

We as CONSERVATIVES need to make control of CONGRESS job #1!

Barney

(Here's a few reasons why Barney Frank is not fit to represent the people of the Massachusetts 4th Congressional District)

#1 His Washington DC apartment was used as a homosexual brothel in 1989 by his then domestic partner.
#2 He took a "pass" on the Boy Scouts of America during a liberal assault to revoke their federal charter.
#3 He took a "pass" on internet perverts and would allow them to lure innocent children while on-line.
#4 Sex Tourism with kids is OK with him!
#5 So much so, he voted twice to do nothing about it!
#6 Barney Frank voted NO for AMBER ALERT!
#7 He Supports Homosexual Marriages.

HR4892 "SCOUTING FOR ALL ACT" 106th Congress Sept 13, 2000 A BILL To repeal the Federal charter of the Boy Scouts of America. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1.SHORT TITLE. This Act may be cited as the `Scouting for All Act'
SEC. 2. FINDINGS. The Congress finds the following:
(1) Federal charters are prestigious distinctions awarded to organizations with a patriotic, charitable, or educational purpose.
(2) Although intended as an honorific title, a Federal charter implies Government support for such organizations.
(3) In 1916, the Federal Government granted a Federal charter to the Boy Scouts of America.
(4) Although the Boy Scouts of America promotes the social and civic development of young boys through mentoring, it also sets an example of intolerance through its discriminatory policy regarding sexual orientation.
(5) Federal support for the Boy Scouts of America indirectly supports the organization's policy to exclude homosexuals.
(6) A policy of excluding homosexuals is contradictory to the Federal Government's support for diversity and tolerance and should not be condoned as patriotic, charitable, or educational.
SEC. 3. REPEAL OF FEDERAL CHARTER OF BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA.
(a) REPEAL- Chapter 309 of title 36, United States Code, which grants a Federal charter to the Boy Scouts of America, is repealed.
(b) CLERICAL AMENDMENT- The analysis at the beginning of subtitle II of title 36, United States Code, is amended by striking the item relating to chapter 309.

(2) by inserting `section 2423(b) (relating to travel with intent to engage in a sexual act with a juvenile),' after `motor vehicle parts),'.
(b) TRANSPORTATION FOR ILLEGAL SEXUAL ACTIVITY- Section 2516(1) of title 18, United States Code, is amended--
(1) by striking `or' at the end of paragraph (q);
(2) by inserting after paragraph (q) the following: `(r) a violation of section 2422 (relating to coercion and enticement) and section 2423(a) (relating to transportation of minors) of this title, if, in connection with that violation, the intended sexual activity would constitute a felony violation of chapter 109A or 110, including a felony violation of chapter 109A or 110 if the sexual activity occurred, or was intended to occur, within the special maritime and territorial jurisdiction of the United States, regardless of where it actually occurred or was intended to occur; or'; and

(I wonder why the GOP doesn't attempt to peel off more of these "fiscal conservatives" - they are after all the primary reason Nancy Pelosi is Speaker of the House,
if 40 of them - that is a lot - swapped sides the Republicans would control the House 217 - 216. Obama Care would go away)

(Though as a Conservative I try to back it with Thought)

Some thoughts on Massachusetts. Personally I understand most folks perspective here @ FR concerning my homestate.
What I don't understand is how they write as if it can't (hasn't) happen in their homestate, this now with a Democratic president,
a Democratic House & Senate. Consider that Ronald Reagan carried the Commonwealth twice!
Even if I could leave I wouldn't, I consider this the FRONT, I will not surrender my post!
Nothing makes my day more rewarding than pissing off a liberal by throwing their own beliefs in their face.

"Sons of Liberty"

"We do therefore, in the name and behalf of all the true SONS of LIBERTY in America, Great Britain, Corsica, Ireland or wheresoever they are dispersed throughout the world, dedicate and solemnly devote this tree to be a TREE of LIBERTY.---- May all our councils and deliberations under its venerable branches be guided by wisdome, and directed to the support and maintenance of that liberty, which our forefathers sought out and found under trees and in the wilderness. ---May it long flourish, and may the SONS of LIBERTY often repair hither, to confirm and strengthen each other. --When they look towards the sacred ELM, may they be penetrated with a sense of duty to themselves, their country, and their posterity:--And may they, like the house of David, grow stronger and stronger, while their enemies, like the house of Saul, grow weaker and weaker. AMEN"- Silas Downer, July 25, 1768
