The Republican Party of Florida sided with former President Donald Trump and his allies on Friday, rescinding the state’s loyalty oath primary requirement that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) supported. Earlier in the year, the Florida GOP voted to require presidential candidates sign a pledge to support the party’s eventual nominee to make it on the state’s March 19 primary ballot. Trump has maintained he would not sign any loyalty pledge, telling Newsmax, “Why would I sign it? I can name three or four people that I wouldn’t support for president. So right there, there’s a problem.”Lee County GOP Chair...

The Republican Party of Florida on Friday night scrapped plans to require presidential candidates to sign a loyalty oath, siding with former President Donald Trump over Gov. Ron DeSantis in a proxy war that tested the strength of the two rivals’ support in their home state. The party had quietly agreed in May to institute a pledge, mandating candidates promise to endorse the GOP nominee in order to make next year’s primary ballot The vote by the state GOP’s executive committee took place during the organization’s quarterly meeting in Orlando (over successes) Instead, the meeting exposed deepening divisions in the...

President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that he will not sign the party’s loyalty pledge for the 2024 elections. This pledge, which promises support for the eventual Republican presidential nominee, is a requirement set by the party’s leadership for candidates who wish to participate in the high-stakes primary debate slated for August 23 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel emphasized that signing this pledge is mandatory for candidates wishing to participate in the GOP’s first primary debate. Earlier this year, McDaniel said President Trump would sign the pledge: “I think they all want to be on the debate stage....

Let us be clear and non-pretending. The RNC, a private corporation run by U.S. multinational corporations, billionaires and donors who control it, is a private club – who construct the rules of affiliation according to the interests and demands of the benefactors. The RNC club, the right side of the UniParty corporate structure, has zero consideration or interest in the opinion of voters forced to register in their affiliation. The people who fund the RNC have established the rules for participation in the club debate. The first club debate is scheduled for August 23, 2023, on Fox News with the approved process...

The Republican Party circulated a loyalty pledge to the 17 presidential candidates today. ** The Republican establishment is far more interested in the candidates pledging support to the party than the party’s pledge to the people. Even Bill Kristol thinks this is foolish. Trump should offer his own pledge to the party. He should force them to sign a pledge to support him when he wins. UPDATE: Trump will meet with RNC leader Reince Priebus tomorrow

A source with knowledge of these matters has confirmed to Breitbart News exclusively that RNC Chairman Reince Priebus will meet with Donald Trump “at Trump Tower in Midtown Manhattan tomorrow afternoon to discuss the ‘loyalty pledge.'” Politico reported earlier today that the RNC plans to ask candidates to sign a pledge that they will support whoever is nominated by the Republican Party and not oppose them in the general election. The political magazine speculated that the pledge is designed to “force the front-runner’s [Trump’s] hand”: The Republican National Committee on Wednesday privately reached out to GOP presidential candidates to ask...

The cable news networks are all breathlessly reporting that after a one-on-one meeting with Reince Priebus, Donald Trump has signed a pledge in which he promises to support the eventual Republican nominee, regardless of who it might be. I am sure that in the corridors of the RNC national headquarters, they are all slapping themselves on the back confident that eventually Trump will fade away and that they have averted a third party disaster. In the first place, I don’t think they have accomplished any such thing. I don’t think it’s a foregone conclusion anymore that Trump will ever fade...

From Mike Allen writing at Politico: A close associate tells POLITICO that Donald Trump plans to sign a loyalty pledge Thursday that would bind him to endorse the Republican nominee, and would preclude a third-party run. Trump made the stunning decision, which he has long resisted, to avoid complications in getting listed on primary ballots, and to take away an attack line in the next debate, the associate said.

Since attention is being focused on whether Donald Trump will sign a loyalty pledge, what about Jeb Bush? Bush would never run a third party candidacy, but like many establishment Republicans, he might pay lip service to endorsing the nominee and then disappear from the scene. Or worse, he might furtively encourage his supporters to give money to Hillary. Sounds far fetched? That's exactly what happened in Virginia when Ken Cuccinelli was nominated for governor by Republicans after beating a RINO for the nomination; in retaliation, establishment Republicans sat on their hands and even gave money and support to the...
