The best friend of Gavin Long, aka Cosmo Setepenra, tells how a Marine became a sovereign citizen and, eventually, a mass murderer. Before he killed three Baton Rouge cops, Gavin Long drove to Dallas one day after a black veteran like him slaughtered five white police officers. Once there, he recorded himself preaching a message for black men: It’s time to wake up. Long visited two barbershops with a stack of self-published tomes and a camera clipped to his shirt to record his proselytizing. “I want to give you something that you can’t lose, something they can’t take from you,”...

Protests have continued in the United States, after violent incidents involving African American people and the police last week. On Sunday, dozens of protesters were arrested in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where a black man was killed by police last Tuesday. In an atmosphere of heightened racial tension, and amid growing debate over the seeming militarisation of American police, one photo has stood out. It was taken by Jonathan Bachman, a New Orleans-based photographer who has been working for Reuters in the past few days. The image shows a young woman in a dress standing calmly in front of two police...

"So who is Alton Sterling? For starters, liberals should know he possessed an illegal firearm. As a felon with a lengthy rap sheet, Sterling is legally prohibited from possessing a firearm. Police records show Sterling had been a member of the Bloods gang, and had a list of offenses including battery, assault, drugs and weapons charges, and owed $25,000 in child support. He was also a registered pedophile, having impregnated a 14-year-old girl when he was 20. The media, by contrast, has portrayed him as a loving father of five."

Independent Journal Review published an article today about some of the groups the Dallas Police shooter was involved with on Facebook. One of those groups, the African-American Defense League, is going to be paying Baton Rouge a visit on Monday. Yeah, these people are not coming to calm things down. They’re coming to Baton Rouge to try and stir up a riot. They want to lynch the two police officers who shot Alton Sterling. That’s not justice. “Dr.” MauriceIm-Lei Millere likes to call for killing white people. Mauricelm-Lei Millere, an advisor to the New Black Panther Party(NBPP), is using social...

Never let it be said that Newt Gingrich is predictable. As the political world waits to see if the former Georgia congressman and U.S. House speaker gets tapped to be Donald Trump’s running mate, Gingrich teamed up with his former Crossfire partner Van Jones to discuss this week’s shootings in Dallas, Baton Rouge and Minnesota. Speaking on Facebook Live, Gingrich was his typically direct self. But, in this age of polarized politics, whether it be of the electoral or racial variety, Gingrich’s comments were also remarkable. Here is the key quote: “It took me a long time, and a number...

Morning Joe did a very decent job today of covering the shooting of police officers in Dallas and the issue of police shootings of African-American. The remarks were generally even-handed. Even Al Sharpton was cautious and balanced in his comments. And so it was surprising that of all people, Chuck Todd made the most tendentious remark. Speaking of the shooting of Philando Castile in St. Paul, Minnesota, and discussing the need for better police training, Todd said: “how do you train prejudice and hate out of somebody’s heart? That’s a tough thing.” Is there racism among police? Of course, as...

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said Thursday that a bill targeting sanctuary cities that refuse to enforce immigration laws would “undermine the ability of local law enforcement to police their own communities to ensure public safety.” “Senator Toomey”s bill will undermine the ability of local law enforcement to police their own communities to ensure public safety. It would deny millions of dollars of critical community and economic development funding to cities and states that refuse to target immigrant families,” Reid said in a speech on the Senate floor. Sen. Pat Toomey’s (R-Pa.) bill, the Stop Dangerous Sanctuary Cities Act,...
