RUSH: Now, on drug reimportation, the White House assured liberal-kook bloggers that Obama is working back channels to get that done later. Because the reimportation of drugs, that's another thing that ticked off the left because that means insurance companies here get "obscene profits" and people don't get to buy cheap drugs imported from Canada. So they held a conference call yesterday with liberal bloggers, and during the Q&A, blogger Susie Madrak said, "I thought that whole maneuver with importing the pharmaceutical drugs was shameless. I mean, anybody in the industry knows that the FDA inspects those facilities in other countries, but in fact a lot of the pharmaceutical companies that are bringing those drugs into the country from those exacts same plants -- you know, and considering that President Obama campaigned on this -- I would just like to hear some feedback on that."

WOMAN: One good thing that happened this week is that the Labor-HHS bill was among the bills that was finally approved by the Senate, and in that bill was a proposal that President Obama put forth as soon as he got here, which is to get the FDA started on the kind of work it needs to do to have the infrastructure and the system to do importation of drugs safely. The president is committed to that. He put money in the budget for FDA to start working on: How do we get the system up and running to do this kind of thing safely?

RUSH: Were you able to understand that? I have the transcript so I know what she said. Basically she sai: Don't worry about it; Obama's working on this back channels. He's going to get this done later on. Which I'm sure all that's true. All of that and more is going to get done next year and then the year after that there will be more added. It's never going to stop. Now, this is the same phone call. This is David Axelrod trying to walk back his comment that Ben Nelson and Howard Dean are insane.

AXELROD: I'm not, uh, professionally qualified to judge insanity. Maybe I should have used a different word. I just think it's wrong-headed to suggest that, uh, somehow these bills, uh, uh, aren't infinitely, uh, better than what we have today. They are, and it would just be a shame... We have this extraordinary moment when we can win where we never could win, uh, before, and, uhh.. I just... That's the basis from which I use that word. I don't doubt the sincerity of people in this debate on all sides, and certainly people in the progressive community I know care deeply about, uh, rectifying the very problems I'm talking about. But these bills will go a long ways toward doing that and that's why I feel so strongly about it.

RUSH: See, they're in trouble. They have to schedule this conference call with all these nut cake loopy tunes bloggers to try to assure them, "No, we don't mean what we mean and we didn't say what we said and you couldn't hear us right -- and privately we do think you're insane and we wish you would leave us the hell alone!" Now the last one is a question from a blogger at the Huffing and Puffington Post, and the question is: "The president's approval rating. I mean, there's no up in these polls. It's straight down for several weeks now. The enthusiasm gap, the NBC poll today. You see, overall, really distressing signals for Democrats in 2010. Is there something in the context of this health care debate or beyond it? Is there something that you have in mind that will reverse this trend heading into next year?

AXELROD: I'd be the last person to dismiss polls. I mean, given the profession that I'm -- I've been in. But there are things that transcend polls. We have the opportunity to do something that positive way. That's why we're here. We're not here to husband our poll numbers like a trophy on the shelf and take 'em down and admire them every once in a while.

RUSH: Ehhhhhhhh, don't be fooled, folks. They're worried about the plummeting poll numbers. Not because it's going to affect their energy to get this done but because Obama is a narcissist. He wants to be idolized, not just loved. He wants his face on Mount Rushmore, probably before he leaves office! So it does bother them in that context. But they didn't expect any of this. Folks, I guarantee you that when they were immaculated, they were thinking that this was going to be a road as smooth as any ever paved. They thought the universal love and devotion would make it so. They've made the same mistake that the Republicans made in 1994. When we won all those House elections and took over the House in 1994, the Republicans assumed that the country at large had ideologically turned to conservatism, and they stopped teaching it. They stopped explaining why they were doing what they were doing, and that allowed the Democrats to butcher it.

These guys, I think, have doubly overestimated that the country has turned far-left fringe because of the cultlike following Obama had. Therefore, I think they're shocked and stunned by all of this. I mean, that Olympic vote? They may act like it was no big deal but being the first nation tossed out after Obama makes a special trip over there? Presidents never do things like that without the outcome being set in stone before he even leaves town. But they had so much faith in the cultlike ability of Obama to mesmerize and hypnotize people! Just because he was there, Chicago would get the Olympics -- and they loved snubbing the president of the United States. This Copenhagen debacle is more of the same. He gets lectured to over on his Asian trip. His only, quote, unquote, "success" is laughing and shaking hands with Hugo Chavez. But that didn't last long because Hugo is now referring to him as the devil. He still smells "sulfur" in the meeting room at Copenhagen.

CALLER: Merry Christmas and to all your listeners as well.

RUSH: Thank you very much.

CALLER: I was wondering if you thought there might be a chance that the ACLU would step in and stop the terrorists from coming to Illinois. After all, it's going to be pure torture for them coming from the tropical island to the sub degree weather here in Illinois.

RUSH: I think the ACLU is busy finding them all lawyers.

CALLER: (laughing) Well, I don't want them in Illinois, but in all fairness I think we should take them because, after all, we sent most of our criminals to Washington this year, so we're short criminals here.

RUSH: (laughing) Excuse me. That is hilarious. You sent most of your criminals -- you did! Axelrod.

CALLER: We did.

RUSH: -- Rahm Emanuel, Obama, Valerie Jarrett, all those clowns.

CALLER: I know. I know. We're short. I don't want terrorists here, but in all fairness we should take them.

RUSH: It is interesting that Dick Durbin is running around acting like this is the single biggest achievement that he has ever made or accomplished for you in Illinois.

CALLER: I just think the whole world has lost their minds. I don't understand where the common sense is.

RUSH: There isn't any. See? That's what you have to understand when you're looking for common sense you're not going to find it on the left. You're going to find lies. I mean they're out there saying, 3,000 jobs, that's what matters here. And people are worried about terrorists escaping and Durbin says, "There's no way these guys are ever going to escape, no way." It's like prison breaks never happened. I don't know. It's fascinating. I think all this, all of this stuff that they're doing, they have no idea how it's being perceived out in the country.

This is Ann in Houston, and great to have you with us on Open Line Friday. Hi.

CALLER: Hi, Rush. Oh, we're a homeschool family, and you are a part of the curriculum.

RUSH: Very wise. Thank you very much.

CALLER: Yes. My husband is a doctor, and he has seen the cost of drugs dramatically increase over the last year. And he's seen this both personally, drugs he takes, and professionally, and he thinks that the drug companies are being allowed to do this as a part of the deal they made with Obama to cover what they will be contributing to go his health care plan. And this increase that patients are now paying, of course it's just really a hidden tax, and, Rush, I want to also say, for the sake of our country, I would like to see your listening audience double or triple. And I have five ideas how to do that. The first idea is to make available to your listeners bumper stickers that say, join Rush 7:40 AM, 11 to two. We would sell those to all of the listening areas around the country, and I would like a job with you to execute my ideas. And may I come interview for a job?

RUSH: What's your second idea?

CALLER: Okay, I've got five, but this is number six.

RUSH: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.

CALLER: We know kids are being brainwashed in our schools --

RUSH: Hold it, hold it, hold it.

CALLER: Oh, yeah. Yes?

RUSH: You got five ideas and this is number six?

CALLER: Yes.

RUSH: And you want to work for me?

CALLER: Because I want to do two, three, four, and five personally, with you.

RUSH: All right.

CALLER: But number six is the most important.

RUSH: But there's only five.

CALLER: Oh, this is number six, I'm sorry. We know our kids are being brainwashed in our schools and, Rush, we need to start a camp for advanced conservative studies. It will be your legacy. It would be for children from seventh to the ninth grade, and we would wash their little brains in the morning, and then they would have the fun activities in the afternoon. And who would come to this camp? The children and grandchildren of your 20 million listeners. I'm a school teacher. And we would teach things I'm teaching right now, Henry Hazlitt's Economics in One Lesson to five of my grandchildren. And then we would teach the Federalist Papers, and who would be doing the teaching? Folks like Michelle Malkin, your substitutes, the other talk show radio hosts would be thrilled to come do a morning. What do you think, Rush? May I come interview?

RUSH: (laughing)

CALLER: You don't know what I've gone through to get this -- and I'm unemployed. And I want to be employed with you.

RUSH: Well, I admire on your entrepreneurism here.

CALLER: Yes.

RUSH: I really do. I'm going to have a talk with Snerdley after the program today.

CALLER: Okay.

RUSH: But I could not possibly bring you in for an interview until I decide whether or not I want to implement all of your plans.

CALLER: Okay.

RUSH: Well, 'cause what you've just told me essentially is I'm not working hard enough.

CALLER: No. People are lazy. They don't necessarily know when you're on. We're going to make it easy with these bumper stickers. You see, what people would do, they would mail their two dollars, we have to charge them so that the liberals don't deplete the supply, and they would mail in with a little -- I can do the whole thing. I can do it in Houston. See, I can do it whole deal.

RUSH: Well --

CALLER: I'll have stacks. I've run for office, Rush. So I know how to mass produce. I was the Republican nominee for state rep a few years ago. And I'm also a developer, I drive a tractor, I have six kids, I can do it.

RUSH: You have six kids and six questions.

CALLER: I have six children and six grandchildren.

RUSH: That's six questions and 12 kids.

CALLER: Yes.

RUSH: At any rate, look, I love your thought on this. I love the desire that you have here to expand the audience exponentially as you have. And I'll think about it. People pepper me with ideas constantly on other things that I could do or should do and I'll throw yours into the hopper along with everybody else's. I thank you for the call out there, Ann, and all the best to you. Thanks again for your call. It's Open Line Friday, folks. This a great example of whatever you want to talk about is fair game on Open Line Friday. If I don't care about it, I'll still talk about it and act like I do.

RUSH: Gary in Fairfax, Virginia, I'm glad you waited, sir, nice to have you on the program.

CALLER: Mega Christmas and merry dittos, Rush.

RUSH: Thank you, sir, very much.

CALLER: All right. I'm calling about the big tent that moderates keep ordering conservative Republicans to make and the purity test they keep demanding, and I say that my tent is as big as the Constitution and that it's the moderates who are demanding this purity test. Your 63% stat that you shared with us today is very revealing. I think about 63% of the country that moderates feel don't belong in that tent. What they want is that we allow moderates in there who are going to start cutting holes in that tent --

RUSH: Wait. Hold it. Hold it. Wait a minute. You've been on hold a long time and people may not know what you're talking about. There's a new Battleground poll out that's had the same result for eight years and that is that 63% of the American people identify themselves as conservative. Only 1% in this Battleground poll called themselves moderates.

CALLER: Exactly.

RUSH: But, see, it's not the moderates who have been putting this stuff out, it's the left, it's the Democrats who have been saying that we need a big tent. Republicans are discriminating against people. It's all about abortion. It's all about the social issues. And of course the Republicans bought into this, we've gotta get that constituency to vote for us, gotta get that constituency to vote for us, we've gotta seek the moderates 'cause the moderates are holy ground and the moderates, we are told, if we make them mad and it's easy to make them mad, all you have to do is criticize Democrats then the moderates will run away from you in droves, and so the Republicans dutifully play along, they don't criticize because they don't want to get the moderates mad, 1%! It seems to me we are the big tent.

CALLER: Yes, we are. We're as big as the Constitution. That's plenty big. And they keep demanding that we allow people at the table and to vote for us and represent us who want to keep cutting coals in that Constitution, you know, that the government should be running our lives and raising our taxes and taking away our freedom. And every time we raise our hand and say, "No, no, no, wait, wait, that's not in the Constitution, they got no right to do it," we're accused of having the purity test.

RUSH: Exactly right. Exactly right.

CALLER: By the way, Rush, I met a poster child moderate. It blew me away, but it defined them for me perfectly. Right after the election, this guy was proud of the fact that he went into the polling place not knowing who he was going to vote for.

RUSH: You're kidding?

CALLER: And that defined it for me. They're so proud of being open-minded that they're standing in line and not 'til he actually pulled the lever did he know -- and he never told me who he voted for. That's a moderate.

RUSH: I don't believe that for a friggin' minute.

CALLER: Yeah, but he was proud of telling you that and telling me how closed-minded I was for knowing how to vote before I got there.

RUSH: Yeah, well, he just wanted you to know how smart he is and how unideological he is. He was making himself out to be a genuine mental midget while trying to make himself sound better than you.

CALLER: Well, their highest virtue is open-mindedness and they love pointing out how we conservatives are so closed-minded because we know what we believe. You've heard that all your life.

RUSH: Constantly.

CALLER: Yeah. Can I run one theory by you real quick?

RUSH: Sure.

CALLER: All right. It's a little exaggeration, but I say there are no liberals in America, there are liars and people who have been lied to.

RUSH: (laughing) It fits. It fits if you understand that liberals lie. That's why I suggested yesterday: For Harry Reid, you say "Harry Reid," comma, "Democrat-Nevada," or "D-NV. Change it to L: "Harry Reid (Liar-Nevada)" Nancy Pelosi (L-California). Harry Reid (L-NV). Doesn't matter. Barney Frank (Liar-Massachusetts). It works.

CALLER: I'm calling today because I had heard that you had mentioned South Butt earlier in the program and although I listen to you every day I'm going to have to admit that the few minutes that you were talking about it I actually turned down my radio so I could finish my Vince Flynn book that I'm reading, so I'm sorry about that, but my father-in-law called to say you were talking about the South Butt and I wanted to call because about two months ago I had purchased my first South Butt jacket.

RUSH: Well, do you like it?

CALLER: I love it, and I think it's absolutely ridiculous that The North Face is trying to sue them. So every time I wear it and anyone asks me about it --

RUSH: I'm glad they are. I'm glad they are. I love the headline: "North Face suing South Butt."

CALLER: It is pretty funny, I know. I just think The North Face is probably upset that they didn't come up with the idea first. But any time --

RUSH: Another Tiger Woods story, actually, but --

CALLER: (laughing) Well, any time I wear it and anyone asks me about it, I encourage everyone to get online and order one because it helps this young man out. Hopefully he's putting it to a college fund, but --

RUSH: All right, I'm going to send you a bill for $20,000. That's how much it costs to have done what you just did.

CALLER: What's that?

RUSH: You did a commercial for South Butt and you left out North Face.

CALLER: I'm sorry.

RUSH: I'm just kidding --

CALLER: It's South Butt, it's funny.

RUSH: I'm just kidding. I'm in the Christmas spirit already. Okay, if you like South Butt, hell, that's good for you, I like South Butt.

CALLER: I think it's a great idea and I think it's funny, and, you know, what, he's not hurting anyone, they're just selling at a drugstore in Missouri, from what I understand, so, I don't know, I think they're it'll intimidated.

RUSH: I saw something that I loved seeing today on the Democrat channel, and that would be PMSNBC. They have this guy, what's his name, Dylan Ratigan? Dylan Ratigan is his name. I think they brought him over from CNBC, and this guy, he fits the mold. Roger Ailes told me that he has a factory that produces blondes out there at Bikini Atoll. These people at MSNBC must have a factory that produces empty headed, knee-jerk liberals, because this Ratigan guy is one of them. He had on as his guest a Florida congresswoman, Debbie Wasserman Schultz. She's from down here in Boca Raton, and I think she's fairly high up in Pelosi's leadership organization. And Dylan Ratigan shut her down. I think he ran her off of the show.

She was on via satellite from Florida. I could tell by the background out there where she was, in front of some marina. And he asked her, "What do you think? Why are you doing this? Why are you all about to agree to mandating people buy insurance from insurance companies?" And she wouldn't answer the question. She went on Nancy Pelosi talking points and this guy was having none of it, and he started shouting at her, treated her like she was a Republican. And she was kind of shocked, because she's a scrapper. I've seen Debbie Wasserman Schultz in action. She's one of those women you're happy somebody else married. And, I'll tell you, she acted like she didn't know -- (interruption) Dawn, it's a joke. Dawn is in there going, "Oh, no, why did he have to say that? He was so good today, why did he have to do that? At any rate, we're working on getting the audio of that, 'cause I saw it, and I'm reading it on closed-caption. I did not listen to it but it looked to be pretty heated.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Here's the audio sound bite, two of them, Dylan Ratigan talking to Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and it starts with this question: "Take a look at the insurance stocks since November 17th. WellPoint up 13%, that's over a course of a few weeks, United Health up ten percent, Aetna up 12%, Humana up 6%, those health insurance companies are up because being unreformed oligopoly, monopoly, it basically allows the taxpayer to take the hit to pay for the uninsured, but it doesn't deal with the underlying symptom as to why there are so many uninsured, which is we have an unreformed private insurance monopoly in this country that is now being guaranteed more customers by the health care bill. Why is that a good thing for America, Congresswoman Schultz?

SCHULTZ: When this bill passes and becomes law, life in America for insurance companies is going to be, you know, very different than it is today.

RATIGAN: Apparently so. Apparently it's worth again another 10% in their stock --

SCHULTZ: Come on, Dylan. Come on, Dylan.

RATIGAN: What do you mean -- what do you mean, come on, Dylan? Are you telling me Wall Street is so stupid that they bid up the insurance stocks ten to 15% because they're morons?

SCHULTZ: I'd love an opportunity to answer your question.

RATIGAN: Go nuts.

SCHULTZ: Because we are going to shift to a consumer-focused system.

RATIGAN: How is it a consumer-focused system --

SCHULTZ: Okay. 
 
RATIGAN: -- for you to mandate by law that people buy health insurance --

SCHULTZ: Dylan, you're not letting me answer.

RATIGAN: -- without giving them more choices? How is that --

SCHULTZ: Dylan, if you'll let me answer the question.

RATIGAN: If I can pass a law to force everybody to watch my TV show and not let them -- have the government make it so you can't change the channel? Dealing with health insurance.

SCHULTZ: There's not much point in having me on if you're not going to let me respond.

RATIGAN: I'm all ears, if you actually answer my question.

RUSH: So that's just a little snippet of how that went. Now, notice also that here's this guy on the Democrat channel, Dylan Ratigan, he is livid that the insurance company stock is going up. There are average Americans who own stock in all the these insurance companies, and this guy is ticked off like I've never heard anybody be ticked off and he's treating Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who is a harmless, defensive little woman like she is the most evil, rotten Republican this guy's ever met. "Debbie, the insurance stocks are going up," blah, blah, blah. That's something that just irritates the hell out of them, and he knows it because the health care bill is going to mandate people buy insurance from these private sector insurance companies. So Ratigan says, "I have a specific question. Why are those stocks up? I'll tell you why those stocks are up, because stocks go up, they make more money in the future."

SCHULTZ: You could be your own guest. Okay, Dylan. This is the most significant reform of the health care system in history. We are shifting the insurance companies -- the focus on insurance companies --

RATIGAN: You're not answering my question. You're not answering my question. I don't have the time for it. I don't have the time for you to come do talking points --

SCHULTZ: And you should bring a stock analyst on your show.

RATIGAN: -- if you want to do Democrat or Republican talking points, you should go on a show where you do Democrat or Republican talking points.

SCHULTZ: Well --

RATIGAN: Thank you so much. That's it.

RUSH: He got rid of her. He sent her packing, back to the condo in Boca Raton. "You're just coming over here with talking points!" She's all, "I don't know anything about the stock market, if you want a stock market guy go get a stock market guy." Anyway, it's just a great example of how these things are beginning to fall apart and how livid the left is about this.

RUSH: Mark my words, just as the truth about Tiger Woods has been exposed, so it shall be with Barack Obama. The parallels -- Lisa Schiffren had that great piece on this last week, the parallels between Barack Obama and Tiger Woods are stunning. We don't know if there's rampant sex romps going on with Obama. We doubt that. But everything else, they created for us a puff piece image of Obama, starting with his speech at the 2004 Democrat convention. We don't know who he is. We don't know anything about the man other than his years agitating the community in Chicago, the things he's written about in his books. But there's this image of "we've never had someone like this before, there's never been a man like this. He transcends normal people." Remember all these people gushing over him. Mark my words. At some point the same unmasking that has happened to Tiger Woods will happen to Barack Obama.

RUSH: This Tiger Woods stuff, folks, is getting a little interesting here. New York Daily News: "Questions Surround Tony Galea's Controversial Techniques Involving Tiger Woods, Other Superstars." Let me read parts of this to you. "Sports medicine guru Tony Galea is the go-to guy for injured athletes seeking the quickest road to rehabilitation - and more multimillion-dollar deals. The Toronoto [sic]-based doctor has treated embattled golfer Tiger Woods, swimmer Dara Torres, Mets Carlos Delgado and Jose Reyes, gold-medal sprinter Donovan Bailey, quarterback Chris Simms - and dozens more in the U.S. and Canada. Galea made house calls for Woods, applying his controversial "blood-spinning" techniques to the golfer last year in Florida. The relationship has left some sports medicine experts wondering why an enormously wealthy athlete like Woods, who has access to the best doctors in the country, would turn to someone so far off the beaten path. That kind of decision raises a red flag for Dr. Lewis Maharem, former medical director of the New York Road Runners Club and the former president of the New York chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine. 'We need to ask questions now,' Maharem said. 'He's going to a doctor no one's heard of.'

"Long before his arrest and a report in Toronto's Globe and Mail linked him to possible illegal drug activity, Galea was on the radar of anti-doping authorities on both sides of the border. 'We are looking at the supply chain, where athletes get drugs and who counsels them,' said Paul Melia, president of the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sports.
Canadian authorities said they have gotten complaints about Galea from athletes and coaches." Here are the other names this guy has worked with. "Galea began working with Woods after Mark Lindsay, a chiropractor associated with Galea, guided Yankee slugger Alex Rodriguez through his rehabilitation from hip surgery last year.
Lindsay," who is the guy that recommended Tiger to go see the doctor, "also consulted with Peyton Manning and formerly worked with such as athletes as former NFL star Bill Romanowski," who has admitted to doping. Also, he worked with "disgraced sprinters Tim Montgomery and Marion Jones." Now, this is the chiropractor, not the doctor. "Galea began working with Woods after Mark Lindsay, a chiropractor associated with Galea," guided Rodriguez through his rehab, Peyton Manning, Bill Romanowski.

Obama Fails Again in Copenhagen
Empty, lackluster climate speech panned by world.

RUSH: Barack Obama says, "The time for talk is over." This from a guy who thinks the world is governed by the aggressive use of speeches! He says "The time for talk is over." Headline from the UK Guardian: "Barack Obama's Speech Disappoints and Fuels Frustration at Copenhagen -- He  offered no further commitments on reducing emissions or on finance to poor countries beyond Hillary Clinton's [$100 billion]. But his speech offered no indication America was ready to embrace bold measures, after world leaders had been working desperately against the clock to try to paper over an agreement to prevent two years of wasted effort — and a 10-day meeting — from ending in total collapse. He did not even press the Senate to move ahead on climate change legislation, which environmental organisations have been urging for months."

Just about patient, environmentalist wackos. That's the big push next year. From Fox News: "Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said he 'still' smelled sulfur [in the room] after President Obama made a keynote speech at the Copenhagen climate conference Friday, accusing the American president of carrying same satanic Chavez believes followed Obama's predecessor, George W. Bush. Chavez, who was not included on the original list of speakers for the final day of the summit" but he spoke up anyway and he "ended the proceedings with bitter references to the Peace Prize-winning Obama as the 'Nobel Prize of War.' 'The Nobel Prize of War just finished saying here that he is here to act. Well, show it sir. Don't leave by the back door,' he said." Nobody is happy in Copenhagen over Obama. Once again, the world set Obama up. They put him on the pedestal. "Obama's going to come in here and save the day! We screwed it up for the first nine days. We couldn't get anything done except extorting $100 billion out of Hillary Clinton.

"But Obama -- the man of Berlin, the man of Cairo, the man of world speeches apologizing for the United States of America -- the institute, the Copenhagen crowd wanted to hear him come over and apologize once again for the United States. They wanted him to say how heartily he was going to attack the capitalist system, and they wanted his presence to secure for the entire gathering a positive end result. And they were let down deeply. Because the magic that was Barack Obama is gone. It's no longer a special thing to hear Obama speak. It's no longer a special thing to see Obama show up or arrive anywhere. He's overexposed on television. His speeches all sound the same. A giant, big let-down. The world soon (if they haven't already) will realize that they have been hoaxed on who Obama is just as they have hoaxed us on the whole notion of climate change. I'm going to mark my words... Well, I can't mark my words in eight seconds.

RUSH: "The lackluster speech proved a huge frustration to a summit that had been looking to Obama to use his stature on the world stage -- and his special following among African leaders -- to try to come to an ambitious deal." One African leader, Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe, the country used to be Rhodesia, and he has literally run the country into the ground. It was a great place once, Mugabe is a dictator and he's run the place into the ground, and he is fit to be tied about Obama's inaction. He's running around the climate change talks saying, "We didn't make this mess, we're a poor country, we didn't make any of this mess, you did. Where's our change, where's our cash?" They're livid over there.

"Many reactions were strongly critical of Obama. Hugo Chávez, the president of Venezuela, described Obama's speech as 'ridiculous' and the US's initial offer of a $10bn fund for poor countries in the draft text as 'a joke.' ... The extent of crisis in the talks has taken leaders by surprise. The Brazilian leader, Lula da Silva, told the conference that the all-night negotiating sessions took him back to his days as a trade union leader negotiating with his bosses." My friends, this is from the UK Guardian, and it's hilarious. I can almost see these people being so ticked off they ask Obama to give back his Nobel Peace Prize. Maybe Obama can quickly announce that he's going to have the US work to give a hundred trillion for climate change. That ought to shut 'em up for a little while. After all it's only money that we don't have. We're already spending and printing money that we don't have.

"Confidential Document Reveals Industrialized Countries Cheating the World on Climate." This is from The Times of India. "The industrialized countries are cheating the world. A confidential document of the UN Frame Convention on Climate Change secretariat prepared on December 15 shows, contrary to what the rich nations might claim, even if they come true on their current pledges to reduce emissions the world is headed towards a three degree temperature rise by 2050, not two degree Celsius -- the tipping point." So it is falling apart. Rich countries have been found to be cheating. Why, who would those rich countries be?

And this is hilarious, too, from the UK Telegraph: "A geologist has gone on trial in Switzerland for allegedly causing earthquakes while drilling for hot rocks to produce clean energy." Green technology can kill you! "Markus Haering, who designed the geothermal project, rejected allegations that he deliberately damaged properties and said local people knew the risks. The deep drilling underground caused a series of earthquakes in 2006, including one of 3.4 magnitude, rattling residents of the north-western city of Basel. Geopower Basel, the project leader, has already paid around 9 million Swiss francs (£5.3 million) in compensation." So here's this schlub, a geologist, out there working to try to find the answers on green technology and, lo and behold, he causes earthquakes to happen and he's on trial. Let's listen to a little bit of Obama's lackluster speech. (interruption) Yes, Snerdley, we're going to get to health care, as I told you. I mean we're loaded here today. We're going to get there. Here's Obama. He says this is not fiction. This is science.

OBAMA: We come here in Copenhagen because climate change poses a grave and growing danger to our people. All of you would not be here unless you, like me, were convinced that this danger is real. This is not fiction. It is science. Unchecked, climate change will pose unacceptable risks to our security, our economies, and our planet. This much we know.

RUSH: Okay, it's not fiction. This is science. If you have to say it's not fiction, you're in trouble. I understand now why they're calling it lackluster. I mean, this was a flatline. There's no emotion, no energy, no sense of urgency, not even any interest! Here's the next sound bite where he says, "I came here not to talk, but to act."

OBAMA: The question, then, before us is no longer the nature of the challenge. The question is our capacity to meet it. For while the reality of climate change is not in doubt, I have to be honest, as the world watches us today, I think our ability to take collective action is in doubt right now, and it hangs in the balance. I believe we can act boldly and decisively in the face of a common threat. That's why I come here today, not to talk, but to act.

RUSH: And he didn't act. All he did was talk. And after he's finished talking, this is a guy who believes the world is governed by the aggressive use of speeches. All he did was talk. He didn't act. And now they're all panning his speech. Here's the next bite.

OBAMA: We know the fault lines because we've been imprisoned by them for years. These international discussions have essentially taken place now for almost two decades. And we have very little to show for it other than an increased acceleration of the climate change phenomenon.

RUSH: He's not selling me.

OBAMA: The time for talk is over.

RUSH: Shut up, then.

OBAMA: This is the bottom line.

RUSH: Uh-huh.

OBAMA: We can embrace this accord, take a substantial step afford, continue to refine it and build upon its foundation, we can do that and everyone who is in this room will be part of a historic endeavor, one that makes life better for our children and our grandchildren.

RUSH: Ladies and gentlemen, I now realize one reason why this sounds so flat. They forgot the godlike reverb in that giant auditorium where Obama was speaking. Without the giant reverb and the godlike presence, this is flat. This is flat, this is so flat, his tire gauge to increase gasoline mileage probably wouldn't work. There's no pressure in the tire. That's what's missing. There was no reverb there. He sounds totally disinterested in this, like he didn't want to go, like he knows there's no way to salvage this. Let's go back to June 3rd, 2008 in St. Paul, Minnesota. This is after the last primary election. Obama's victory speech.

OBAMA, JUNE 2008 (godlike reverb): If we are willing to work for it and fight for it and believe in it, then I am absolutely certain that generations from now we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless, this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal.

RUSH: It was nothingness, it was totally empty. But you see, ladies and gentlemen, when the reverb is there, when the godlike reverb is there and when he has some energy, he's a totally different character. (imitating Obama) "We are going to look back now and tell our children that we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs for the jobless." Yeah, how is that hope and change working for those people? This was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal. We are in deep doo-doo. We got the Iranians nuking up and nobody is stopping them. Kim Jong-il, another irrational lunatic nuking up, nobody is stopping him. Well, I know Obama sent him a letter, but that's what I mean, governed by the aggressive use of words, speeches, what have you.

RUSH: I think it may be safe to say here, folks, that we have a trifecta. A trifecta of failure by Barack Obama. He failed to get the Olympics to Chicago. His Asian trip was a failure. His appearance today at the climate summit was a failure. He had that disaster with the Olympics. Our bid was the first one tossed out! His Asia visit? Nothing was accomplished. Even The Politico blasted it. It was panned universally. Now the headlines out of Copenhagen are just brutal. Obama is being described as "angry" by The Politico. His speech was called "disappointing" the UK Guardian. The conference itself is said to be a "circus" and the science of global warming is being undercut by the Russians of all people! The Russians, by the way, have really confirmed the hoax on all this and there's an understandable reason why. The aim of these anti-capitalists over there is to get rid of oil, among other things, and that's a huge source of income (natural gas as well) for the Russians.

So it turns out that a bunch of these climate e-mails came from a Russian server, the ones that were posted and leaked -- actually not "leaked." The Russians were the whistle-blowers here, and they showed how all of their reporting stations are ignored if they don't get the data that the warmers want. So that's all hitting these people over there. He's being described as "angry" by people. Here's a good summary by the UK Telegraph: "If there were not $45trillion of Western citizens' money at stake, this would be the funniest moment in world history. What a bunch of buffoons. Not since Neville Chamberlain tugged a Claridge's luncheon bill from his pocket and flourished it on the steps of the aircraft that brought him back from Munich has a worthless scrap of paper been so audaciously hyped. There was one good moment at Copenhagen, though: some seriously professional truncheon work by Danish Plod on the smellies. Otherwise, this event is strictly for Hans Christian Andersen."

And what is being discussed there is a piece here by Gerald Warner on his blog at the UK Telegraph: "Copenhagen Climate Summit: 'Most Important Paper in the World' is a Glorified UN Press Release." The funny aspects here are sarcastic, with some great historical references. "When your attempt at recreating the Congress of Vienna with a third-rate cast of extras turns into a shambles, when the data with which you have tried to terrify the world is daily exposed as ever more phoney, when the blatant greed and self-interest of the participants has become obvious to all beholders, when those pesky polar bears just keep increasing and multiplying -- what do you do?" What do you do? "No contest: stop issuing three rainforests of press releases every day, change the heading to James Bond-style 'Do not distribute' and 'leak' a single copy, in the knowledge that human nature is programmed to interest itself in anything it imagines it is not supposed to see, whereas it would bin the same document unread if it were distributed openly.

"After that, get some unbiased, neutral observer, such as the executive director of Greenpeace, to say: 'This is the single most important piece of paper in the world today.' Unfortunately, the response of all intelligent people will be to fall about [die] laughing; but it was worth a try -- everybody loves a tryer – and the climate alarmists are no longer in a position to pick and choose their tactics. But boy! Was this crass, or what? The apocalyptic document revealing that even if the Western leaders hand over all the climate [money] demanded of them, appropriately at the venue of Copenhagen, the earth will still fry on a 3C temperature rise is the latest transparent scare tactic to extort more cash from taxpayers. The danger of this ploy, of course, is that people might say 'If we are going to be chargrilled anyway, what is the point of handing over billions -- better to get some serious conspicuous consumption in before the ski slopes turn into saunas.'

"This 'single most important piece of paper in the world' comes, presumably, from an authoritative and totally neutral source? Yes, of course. It's from the -- er -- UN Framework Committee on Climate Change that is -- er -- running the Danegeld Summit. Some people might be small-minded enough to suggest this paper has as much authority as a 'leaked' document from Number 10 [Downing Street] revealing that life would be hell under the Tories. This week has been truly historic. It has marked the beginning of the landslide that is collapsing the whole [man-made global warming] imposture. The pseudo-science of global warming is a global laughing stock and Copenhagen is a farce. In the warmist camp the Main Man is a railway engineer with huge investments in the carbon industry. That says it all," and then the last paragraph: "If there were not $45trillion of Western citizens' money at stake, this would be the funniest moment in world history," and the ChiComs have snubbed Obama.

Why would...? Ask yourself this: Why would the ChiComs support President Clinton? (Ahem!) President Obama in Copenhagen? Why would they? He's promising to spend more money that we don't have! They have already lectured him about it. This is from Ed Morrissey, Hot Air: "Perhaps Barack Obama saw his arrival in Copenhagen today as 'the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal,' but it turns out it wasn't even the moment when nations began to pay attention to him. While Obama trotted out his familiar exhortation that 'the time for talk is over,' the Chinese apparently took him at his word: 'There is no time to waste,' Obama said.

"'Now I believe it is time for the nations of the world to come together behind a common purpose. There has to be movement on all sides. It is better for us to act rather than talk.' "But action was hard to find," and the Chinese basically walked out. It saw, my friends, a huge humiliation. China has the correct approach, not just for China but for an entire world struggling through an economic crisis. You know, I really do think that Obama is risking his credibility by traveling all over the world again and again and returning home empty-handed. "I'm going to make the sea levels fall! We're going to heal the earth! We're going to have everybody with a job," blah, blah, blah. Nothing, nothing that he has said he could magically make happen has transpired, and what's happening is that...

You can talk all you want about what you didn't like about George W. Bush, but Barack Obama is reducing the impact of presidential diplomacy like no president ever has. He is a constant failure. By the way, aren't Howard Dean and the boys saying Obama has failed? Have they not joined me in that chorus? They all are. So he fails on every mission, he becomes a laughingstock, and he looks desperate at the same time. Now, "Obama also plans to meet with Russia's Dmitry Medvedev to discuss the stalled START pact [strategic arms talks], in which the Russians have also balked on verification issues. The White House doesn't expect to win any agreement there, either, which makes this a double failure."

RUSH:  This is from the French News Agency just now:  "In Copenhagen, Greens' Love Lost for Obama -- US President Barack Obama's hesitant appearance in Copenhagen drew dismay Friday from environmentalists, conceding that the leader who once embodied their dreams is hamstrung politically. Obama flew to the Danish capital on the final day of a high-stakes, 194-nation summit where he urged developing countries to come aboard a deal, even an imperfect one that can be built upon later. But Obama offered no new US pledges of action, despite predictions by many in Copenhagen that he would spring a dramatic 11th-hour surprise to turn around the faltering talks.  'I was frankly surprised. I didn't think it was his strongest performance,' said US Representative Earl Blumenauer, a staunch environmentalist in Obama's Democratic Party who came to Copenhagen with a congressional delegation. 'The fact is there was nothing new and maybe a little of a harsher tone.'"
It's not looking good out there for our young, new president.

RUSH: Now, the Iranians are denying this story, but it's in multiple sources here. "The deputy minister, Mohammed Haj Mahmoud, said Iranian troops seized oil well No. 4 Thursday night in the al-Fakkah..." gotta pronounce that carefully "...oil field, located about 200 miles southeast of Baghdad. The oil field is one of Iraq's largest." However, as I say, the Iranians are denying this. Now, ladies and gentlemen, as far as Iran is concerned, let's be blunt here. The only way to stop them is to destroy the Iranian regime, the mullahs, and that can only be accomplished through war. And by war I don't mean ground troops, I mean massive bombing raids intended to destroy every one of the key targets. The question is whether we have the will to do this anymore. Danielle Pletka from I think AEI had a column on this in the Washington Post earlier this week basically stating our policy is one of containment and how erroneous and dangerous that is. It's a left-over containment policy, mutually assured destruction that we had with the Soviets.

But these people are irrational, and they are irrational religious fanatics, and the guy running the country, the figurehead, anyway, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, really does believe that he must make the last days occur so that the 12th imam can rise from the well. And the only way to do that is to destroy Israel and western countries. So I don't know whether we have the will to do this or not. Bush didn't because he was engaged in Iraq and Afghanistan, and they would have impeached him if he tried. Obama's tied up in knots with his own appeasement mentality, his left-wing base. Everything Obama is touching is coming apart. Everything's unraveling. "World Stunned by Obama's Copenhagen Speech," from the UK Guardian, and they are a bunch of commies at the UK Guardian. They're just terribly upset and disappointed. They thought Obama was going to jump in here and save the day and now there are rumors that the UN is asking the delegates to stay on so they get something meaningful out of there. The UN is now denying that they've asked that.

So if we don't pound Iran into submission at some point they are going to get the bomb, they're bragging about it, they've told us, they've shunned the inspectors, and they laugh about it all. If Israel doesn't attack 'em the world will be forever a hostage to an Islamic regime that could fire midrange and eventually long-range nuclear missiles when it chooses. Now, we know that Obama will not take effective military steps to stop Iran so if Israel doesn't it will in fact become a nuclear regime. Obama will not do it because he doesn't like the concept of victory, he's uncomfortable with it, and he'd rather send letters to North Korea and to Tehran and have all kinds of meaningful dialogue. Economic sanctions in Iran will not work since the mullahs and ayatollahs are unaffected by it, they don't care what happens to their people.

The ayatollahs and the mullahs will have all the physical comforts that they want, but -- (interruption) is that him bowing again? I'm looking at a picture of Obama on Fox here. He's either bowing to the ChiCom leader or a vase of flowers. I wonder if they're from Pro Flowers. I wonder if these clowns ordered Pro Flowers from the Rush Pro Flowers website. Anyway, an internal revolution in Iran might have worked, but it's highly, highly unlikely to work now with Obama as president, given his inhumane response to the uprising of a few months ago. So it's a precarious situation. The Iranian nuclear possibility is the elephant in the room that nobody wants to deal with.

RUSH: Jumping back here to Iran and its apparently inevitable nuclear program, do you remember when nuclear war, nuclear proliferation was by far the most important, most frightening problem facing our world? Do you remember back in the late eighties, early nineties, Phil Donahue still had a show and I remember Laura Dern, the Hollywood actress broke down in tears on the Donahue show when she was 18. (imitating Dern) "Do you know what it's like, Phil, to get up every day and worry that somebody's going to launch a nuclear bomb, do you know?" Do you remember that? All the hysteria, the global peace marches for nuclear disarmament, all of that stuff. According to the media and the rest of the left, that was by far the most important, most frightening problem facing the world. And now, when we are finally facing a real threat from real lunatics, it's being completely ignored! And instead, the new bugaboo is global warming, even though the worst thing that can be said about that is the world might go up a degree or two in a century or so. Global warming is the big panic! It used to be nuclear war, nuclear proliferation. Now nobody cares.

RUSH: Now, let's look at the timing here and why they're running out of time to pass this bill before Christmas, before the end of the year in the Senate. "If the Senate has any hope of passing the health care bill before Christmas, lawmakers will need to cast votes in the dead of night and early in the morning next week. The Senate would essentially stay in session 24 hours a day next week to burn the clock on procedural rules that require a 30-hour break between votes." But Dingy Harry has shown that he doesn't mind breaking rules. He's talked about using reconciliation if he has to, that reading of the Bernie Sanders amendment was stopped in violation of Senate rules. So who's to say that Dingy Harry won't do something with the 30-hour rule between votes?

So here's how it would look. "Following passage of the Defense Department appropriations bill..." and I think that has passed, and that wasn't expected to pass until tomorrow morning, but they did it early this morning, late last night barely getting it through. So Harry Reid has to file cloture on three things now. The manager's amendment, which is the real bill, the substitute amendment and the underlying bill. The manager's amendment is what Mitch McConnell says nobody's seen. Now, this would set up the first cloture vote on the manager's amendment on Monday at one o'clock or maybe now Sunday night at six p.m. "The 30-hour clock would begin to run, setting up the second cloture vote on the substitute amendment at Tuesday at 7 a.m. The cloture vote on the underlying bill would follow on Wednesday at 1 p.m." They got 30 hours you have to wait after that. That takes you to seven p.m. on Christmas Eve. Maybe they could get it done in the morning on Christmas Eve but that's if everything falls into place. Everything falling into place includes Ben Nelson, and he's not there yet.

I'll give you a couple reasons why. Right now in Nebraska Ben Nelson is at 51% approval, 41% disapproval, according to the Tarrance poll. Now, there's a state treasurer in Nebraska, very popular named Shane Osborn. He's already running against Nelson, who's up in 2012. Now, Shane Osborn is a hero of the US plane that China forced down in 2001. 2012 is long enough for the problems in the bill to surface but before the benefits kick in, and Nelson is looking at this. The problems in the bill are all the regulations and all the tax increases, and they start immediately. But the benefits, quote, unquote, benefits, the so-called spending and getting everybody covered, that doesn't start 'til 2014. So none of the so-called good in the bill will show up, even though it's all good, I'm giving you Nelson's frame of mind here. The bad part of the bill will show up immediately. He also has businesses and pro-life groups pounding him. A lot of ads are being run in Nebraska. If Ben Nelson votes for cloture on the health care package at any point from here on out without the abortion language being sanctioned by an outside pro-life group and mainly in Nebraska, that means the US Catholic bishops, he will either not run for reelection or he'll be defeated. It's that bad.

If he caves on abortion and votes for this thing, he's finished, and he knows it. He'll either retire and not run or he's gonna get creamed in 2012. So they're very much worried about Nelson. And in fact Reuters has the story here today: "Democratic hopes for passing a broad health-care overhaul in the Senate took a hit Thursday when a crucial party holdout, Ben Nelson, rejected a compromise on abortion funding aimed at winning his vote. Senate Democratic leaders, racing the clock to finish work on the bill before leaving for the holidays, struggled to line up the 60 votes they need to overcome Republican procedural hurdles. 
 
"Democrats have no margin of error: They control exactly 60 votes and face so far unified Republican opposition. ... Nelson, an abortion rights opponent, said compromise language designed to strengthen a ban on using federal funds for abortions was not good enough to meet his concerns. 'As it is, without further modifications, the language concerning abortion isn't sufficient,' Nelson said in a statement, adding he would not back Democrats on a series of upcoming procedural votes without more changes to the bill."

He's a legitimate holdout and for all the reasons that I have mentioned to you. You got Bernie Sanders saying he's not in there yet; Roland Burris saying he's not in there without a public option, but those two guys could be handled pretty easily. Nelson is another story.

RUSH: And let's also not forget this. The leaders of the AFL-CIO and the Service Employees International Union said the Senate bill had been watered down so much by these changes to appease party members that they don't like it. "We don't like the bill. We think it has to be improved, but we have no belief that these senators are going to do anything better." Clinton is out there saying, (imitating Clinton) "If you don't get this passed right now, it's going to be lost forever, and don't make the mistake I made. If you don't get this passed, you are dead meat. You're a dead meat nation." President Clinton, you're advising these guys on political suicide. They are dead meat if they vote for it.

RUSH: You gotta hear this. Joe Lieberman was shut down on the floor of the Senate yesterday by none other than Al Franken. It's standard operating procedure when a Senator reaches his allowed time limit if he asks for a couple minutes more, it's always granted. It did not happen yesterday. This is a montage of an exchange between Lieberman and Al Franken and John McCain.

LIEBERMAN: -- health insurance for pretty much everybody in our country.

FRANKEN: The Senator has spoken for ten minutes.

LIEBERMAN: I wonder if I could ask unanimous consent for just an additional moment.

FRANKEN: Um, in my capacity as Senator from Minnesota, I object.

LIEBERMAN: Really? Okay. I don't take it personally.

MCCAIN: I've been around here 20-some years. First time I've ever seen a member denied an extra minute or two to finish his remarks. And I must say that I don't know what's happening here in this body, but I think it's wrong.

RUSH: You don't know what's happening in the body; do you know what's happening in the country? Everybody else knows what's going on in that body. It's been corrupted! Gee whiz. So apparently CNN's Candy Crowley said that the order was Dingy Harry. The fill-in host Rick Sanchez working for Campbell Brown last night -- she had to go to a party -- and he talked with Candy Crowley and said, "What's going on here, what's this all about?"

CROWLEY: The Democrats on the left and on the right are hurting. Senator Franken was the conduit to this, but this was on orders from Senator Reid. He's the majority leader. And he said, "Okay, the rule is that everybody is going to stay to ten minutes on this particular bill," and so ten minutes, not one more minute, not two more minutes, which is very routine. I have never, ever seen anybody cut off, either.

RUSH: Yeah, yeah, this is not an accident, this is planned and this is all about the rule reading the Sanders amendment and also harping and coming down on Lieberman. Now, we have a couple bites here with Reid and McConnell battling it out on the Senate floor that you might want to hear.

REID: They made their point to the American people. They made perfectly clear that they have no interest in cooperating or in legislating. But the families and businesses that are suffering, hurting and dying every single day, have no time for these kinds of games. That's why we want to finish health care whether the other side cooperates or not.

RUSH: And this brought the following from Mitch McConnell.

MCCONNELL: The only conceivable justification for rushing this bill is the overwhelming, overwhelming opposition of the American people. Democrats know that the longer Americans see this bill, the less they like it.

RUSH: And it's not just that, the more they see it, the less they like it, but these guys have to go home for their Christmas break and they don't want to catch hell. By the way, if you let a clown in the clubhouse, you're going to end up with a circus and that's what Al Franken being in the Senate is, Senator McCain. You got a clown there taking orders from Dingy Harry. Also 2010 they want to move on to other stuff, they want to move on to cap and trade, they want to move on more tax increases. But mainly they want to get this done before everybody finds out what is really in this. Ben Nelson, I told you, is sticking to his guns on this. I'm going to skip Nelson because I basically have reported what he said. Let's move on to Howard Dean. This morning on CNBC Squawk Box, the cohost Joe Kernen says, "Look, we hear about you need the momentum, we have to do it even before the end of the year, and there's a specter of November 2010. There are some people that say the ire is greater than it was in 1993. You almost sound like you can be a Ralph Nader here trying to do the right thing, but you end up scuttling a deal for the party with the best of intentions?"

DEAN: You know, I compromise and I compromise and I compromise, and I think a lot of Democrats compromise and compromise and compromise, and finally the compromises were just too much. Most people don't get insurance 'til 2014. Insurance premiums will double between now and 2014. I'm not sure how we're going to afford all this if we continue down this path.

RUSH: We aren't going to be able to afford all this, insurance premiums will double, and most people aren't going to get their insurance 'til 2020. The big myth of this bill is that even if everything they want gets passed, after 20 years there are still 19 million uninsured in the Senate version of this plan. It doesn't even attack the main objectives that people have or the main desires they have with the health care system.

Conservatism Has Won the Day, But Dems Have Year to Do Damage
Amidst a lib crack-up, Democrats remain dangerous.

RUSH: Now, my friends, look at the polls. Look at the polls on the issues. Conservatism is not in the ascendancy. I got a Battleground poll today that illustrates 63% of the American people define themselves as conservative and they have for years and years and years. So it's not that conservatism is in the ascendancy. When you look at the polls on the issues, conservatism has won the day. Well, we're still ascending, but that's not the way to describe what's happening. The only issue is whether the public's view can catch up now with the election cycle in November. That is whether the public will be able to make its views felt politically before more damage is done to the nation by this crowd. Howard Dean's back on the warpath again and Axelrod had to apologize for calling a couple of people that the left nut kook-fringe base loves insane, he's trying to walk that back. Howard Dean is out there. I tell you, Howard Dean is sounding more like me and Jim DeMint. I'm stunned by it.

Keith Olbermann has said he'll go to jail rather than buy insurance if he has to buy it from a private sector insurance company. The left is just ticked as hell over this. Michael Moore is going to boycott Connecticut. Now, the last time one of these boycotts began -- they always create more tourism. "Oh yeah, Michael Moore says we shouldn't go? Well, screw you, Michael. We're going. We never really had any plans to go to Connecticut, but since you don't want us to go, we're going to go." The best thing in the world for Connecticut has just happened. Michael Moore has announced a boycott. Boycott Michigan as well. But there's only so much so large a man can do for his country at one time.

Now, the American people have had a huge helping of statism aggressively forced on them, and they don't like it, and it shows up everywhere in the polls. They don't like the debt. They don't like the bullying. They really don't like the arrogance. They do not like the regulations; they do not like the taxes; they do not like the favoritism. The American people love their country. The American people love their Constitution and their economic system. They do not want to lose it. You can see it everywhere you look in the polls today or go out and just talk to people. The American people like being number one. The American people love winning. They like being the number one economic power, the number one military power. We expect that. We are a nation that has pursued excellence from our founding. The people of this country do not like their president trying to diminish the country, the economy, and our sovereignty. They do not like this little guy whose career has amounted to nothing but words over about five minutes, running around the world and apologizing for the United States. The American people are a proud people. They do not like their president trashing them before international gatherings of dictators, mobsters, and leftists, which is what Copenhagen's all about.

By the way, I have a quick question here. The buzzword from Obama to the British, everywhere, is green jobs, green technology, right? That's the only way to go, that's the future of the world, that's how we save ourselves. Why in the world do we have to bribe these little Third World countries with a hundred billion dollars to do it? Well, because it's the massive redistribution that has long been desired by the left, getting its toe in the water here with this $100 billion. The American people do not like their president trashing them at places like Copenhagen, down in Latin America, or wherever. Conservatism has won the day in terms of philosophy and policy, there's no question about it. If the election were held today the Democrats would be thrown out of power and everybody knows it and that's why there's all this angst on the left. They are truly cracking up. The left feels like they have been sold out. You have to understand, and it's not just the kook-fringe left, the mainstream left, which is plenty radical, despises industry. The insurance industry is reviled. You can try to slough this off on Harry Reid, but he's not doing anything without Obama's approval, imprimatur.

I'm going to tell you something. When you tell these radicals who hate capitalism, who hate American businesses, who hate industry, that they have to go buy something from industry, that's bad enough, but when it comes to health care, which is sacrosanct, when you tell these nut cakes that they have to buy insurance or go to jail from the evil, wicked private insurance -- why, you are talking revolt, and they're not going to be able to tamp this down. And if they take it out and put the public option back in, they lose Lieberman. So they're in a tizzy. The timing for them now is December 24th, the evening of Christmas Eve to vote on this. That alone ought to tell you what's at stake here. To them, this is so desperate to get done before the calendar goes to 2010, it doesn't matter what's in it, it doesn't matter who sees or reads the bill. So the Democrats and Obama are operating not out of the best interests or desires of the American people, they are operating out of raw power aimed at destroying what Americans love before the next election.

I have warned you people countless times. I know it's tough to accept that the people of this country elected a man who would populate the government with these kinds of radicals but they did and he is the lead radical of all these people, and now there's buyer's remorse all over the place. Their purpose, Obama's purpose, the left's purpose is to create programs and conditions which they intend to be irreversible, regardless of the outcome of the next election. That's why all the haste. That's why health care, that's why cap and tax, that's why card check, all of these things. And, you know, Howard Dean, I forgot to mention one point about Howard Dean. Howard Dean is out there now telling Democrats -- and we have been telling this, too, but the audience on the left has not cared about this. He's now out there telling them: "Furthermore, do you know what? From the moment this bill is signed, you are going to have to buy health insurance from a private sector insurance company, but guess what? The benefits and the health spending are not going to start 'til 2014."

Many people on the left don't know that because the State-Controlled Media does not make that point. In any venue you will not see that element of this being made by the State-Run Media, so that comes as a shock. So Howard Dean's on the warpath. Howard Dean is trying to take these people out. There is no question whatsoever in my mind about it. They want to create all these programs and conditions, which they intend to be irreversible regardless of the outcome of the next election. That's why the haste. This is how destructive and dangerous these people have now become. It really is them against us, not because I say so, but because of what they are saying and what they are doing. This isn't a standard run-of-the-mill day at the office. This is big.

RUSH: This is Steve, and welcome, sir. Great to have you here.

CALLER: Thank you, Rush. Hello.

RUSH: Yeah, you're welcome.

CALLER: I have a question about health care. I keep hearing you and others say that if they pass this, it's going to be irreversible. Why? I mean these are our elected representatives, are they not? They make the laws, can't they repeal the laws later on when they find out that it's a bad idea?

RUSH: Of course they can, but can you name such an instance?

CALLER: (laughing) No. Well, the only thing I can think of is an analogy where policies that Reagan put in kind of reversed what damage was done during the Carter years, but I don't know that, you know, you could really call those laws being repealed.

RUSH: Well, you can repeal the tax increases, you can cancel them. But the actual spending benefits and the entitlement aspect of health care which kick in in 2014, Prohibition is the only example of something being totally reversed and wiped out. It's not that it can't be, it's just that it's going to depend largely on the makeup of the House and Senate when the issue begins 'cause the president is going to veto this, an Obama-like president would veto any bill that rolls any of this back, and if you don't have two-thirds majority in both houses to override it then it's academic. There are parts of this that certainly could unravel. We're fortunate in that it doesn't kick in, the spending side, the restructuring of the insurance business and the health business until 2014. Once that starts, though, if nothing's done to change it, rolling of it back, once it kicks in, at some point there's not going to be a private sector insurance business or industry. At some of these things just don't exist after health care really gets implemented. But, no, we're going to do our best. That's why I was talking yesterday about plan B. Break this thing down into a thousand parts, take 'em on each individually and wipe 'em out. That's got to be one of the objectives of anybody running for office in 2010: repeal this! Kick it down the can!

RUSH: Two fascinating stories here. Denny Huddleston in the American Thinker has a piece entitled, "The End of Liberalism? -- From the very beginning of the Obama presidency Democrats have been acting like kids in a candy store -- doubling down on the TARP bailout and the $787 billion stimulus/slush fund," and Mr. Huddleston actually writes that. I am show prep for the rest of the media. (No offense, Mr. Huddleston.) At any rate, "The most recent 1.1 trillion spending bill and now the health care bill which, with a little accounting sleight-of-hand, comes in at under one trillion," which of course is a joke "the Democrats are spending like there are no more tomorrows. What will be the results of all of this out-of-control spending? The consequences will be many but one of the most surprising results could be the end of liberalism." Now, I, folks, wouldn't go that far because these people are never going to go away.

"What he means is the end of liberalism being masked as something it isn't and becoming something can win majorities in elections. There was an editorial in the Washington Examiner recently which begins with this extraordinary statement: 'With its most vigorous advocate in memory presiding in the White House and commanding Democratic majorities in Congress, it's difficult to believe that the end of liberalism may be within sight.' The Examiner piece goes on to explain how out of control spending may bring about the end of liberalism: 'The Peterson-Pew Commission on Budget Reform has produced a new report warning that "[o]ver the past year alone, the public debt of the United States rose sharply from 41 to 53 percent of gross domestic product (GDP). Under reasonable assumptions, the debt is projected to grow steadily, reaching 85 percent of GDP by 2018, 100 percent by 2022, and 200 percent in 2038.

"'Long before the debt reaches such stratospheric levels, the commission warns, "Fears of inflation and a prospective decline in the value of the dollar would cause investors to demand higher interest rates and shift out of U.S. Treasury securities. The excessive debt would also affect citizens in their everyday lives by harming the American standard of living through slower economic growth and dampening wages, and shrinking the government's ability to reduce taxes, invest, or provide a safety net." In other words, within the lifetimes of the vast majority of living Americans, government as we have known it since the New Deal will become paralyzed, unable to deliver even basic services, let alone the myriad of entitlements that politicians had promised would last forever. Liberalism will owe its undoing to its blind faith that government could forever be the inexhaustible provider of ever more spending, more benefits and more prosperity, with nary a day of reckoning.' Obama and the liberal Democrats in congress have inadvertently implemented a top down Cloward-Piven strategy where liberal entitlement programs sow the seeds of their own destruction by being too ambitious."

The Cloward-Piven strategy is essentially what Obama and a number of these people are following, and its ultimate objective is to have everybody in the country on welfare, by destroying it. "If America survives this experiment in socialism it could well be the end of liberalism as we know it today." That's very optimistic. Very optimistic. But we are experiencing things that we haven't experienced before on such grand scales, and the American people are figuring it out as each day goes by, the damage that is being done here. Now, also by Bruce Walker here at the American Thinker: "The Battleground Poll and the Battle for America -- Good news for conservatives in the latest Battleground Poll. The political implications are profound, if the already-energized conservative base takes even more initiative. In August 2008, I wrote an article on 'The Biggest Missing Story in Politics.' The article explains that conservatives are an overwhelming majority of America.

"One year later, I wrote an update on that theme, this time based on the Gallup Poll, which showed that conservatives outnumber liberals in virtually every state of the union. I have been writing about the remarkable Battleground Poll results in many articles for many years. ... The Battleground Poll is not a Republican polling organization. It is, rather, one of the few bipartisan polling organizations. Republican and Democrat pollsters agree on the language of the questions for respondents, so that the questions asked are not only fairly worded, but unusually fairly worded." Now, we have told you about Mr. Walker before and his focus on this, and he focuses on question D3 which is asked in every Battleground Poll and he says, ""The responses to Question D3 have been remarkably consistent. Respondents have changed dramatically about what they thought of President Bush or of the state of the economy or the most important issues facing our nation. Respondent may swing quite a bit about which party they support or trust the most.

"But in one single area of this long list of polling data, the American people have not wavered at all from Battleground Poll to Battleground Poll: About sixty percent of the American people, in poll after poll, year after year, describe themselves as 'conservative.' On December 16, 2009, Battleground released its latest poll. In this poll, 63% of the American people described themselves as 'very conservative' or 'somewhat conservative.' The rest of America - not just liberals, but moderates and people who were unsure about their ideology or chose not to respond to that question, totaled, collectively, only 37% of America. A measly one percent of Americans called themselves moderates..." David Brooks, you know, you ought to take a look that and find out who your readers are. 'Cause he thinks moderates are the end of the game, end of the world. That's the greatest thing to be. He considers himself a moderate.

"[O]ne percent of Americans called themselves moderates; 25% of Americans called themselves 'somewhat liberal,' and 8% of Americans called themselves 'very liberal.' This is no aberration. Consider in Battleground Poll results since June 2002 the percentage of Americans who have described themselves as conservative.'" I'm going to go through each year here, from June 2002 up to October 2008: 59%, 59%, 60%, 59%, 60%, 61%, 59%, 58%, 63%, 62%, 60%, 59%, and 56% October of 2008. "What does this mean for American politics today? It ought to boldly empower conservatives. The 'right,' which every Democrat leader reflexively attacks whenever political opposition to their plans grows strong, is the overwhelming majority of Americans. This explains why the left's ballot initiatives in California last year failed, in some cases, in every single county of the state and why, in liberal Maine, the gay marriage ballot measure failed.

"This also explains why Obama runs away from 'labels' (all leftists do, and have for many years.) What it means in politics is that any true conservative against a true leftist should carry every state and win by a landslide. But it means more than that. Conservatives in the areas of culture, media, entertainment, and education are treated like unwanted stepchildren, or worse. (This, despite the fact that conservatives on average are better educated than liberals.) The worst victims of invidious bigotry in America today are conservatives. Only a tiny percentage of professors are conservative. The same is true for government supported media like NPR, Corporation for Public Broadcasting, and National Endowment for the [Perversion]. Libraries are dominated by the minority left. How different would America be if fifty or sixty percent of teachers, librarians, professors, public media producers, and staff in government supported organizations were conservative!

"That ought to be a goal for conservatives. Winning elections is fine, but how much more vital is it for us to recover at least an equal voice in colleges, media, schools, libraries, and entertainment? What is wrong with us, the overwhelming majority of Americans, demanding not to be consigned to a ghetto or treated by Jim Crow standards? We begin by pointing out the obvious: conservatives are the majority of Americans but almost invisible in our public and private institutions of education, information, entertainment, and study," a new way of describing the Four Corners of Deceit. Now, I love seeing this piece today, because it confirms my basic instincts. People asked, "Why didn't you endorse McCain?" He's not conservative. "Why do you think McCain lost?" He's not conservative. Our own party, as you well know, is also lined up against conservatives and trying to make a minority out of our presence, or make us a minority in the entire party. This is a teachable moment. Every Republican candidate for every office ought never, ever be afraid of espousing conservative principles and learning to articulate them. It is who the country is by a vast majority.
