During the 2008 presidential campaign, Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin referred to Madeline Albright's somewhat well-known saying, found on a Starbucks coffee cup, that "There's a special place in Hell for women who don't help other women." At the time, Albright, who served as Secretary of State under Bill Clinton, huffed: "Though I am flattered that Governor Palin has chosen to cite me as a source of wisdom, what I said had nothing to do with politics." She naturally followed that statement with an intense political attack on Palin and GOP presidential nominee John McCain. Now that Democrat Hillary...

On the Monday night edition of MSNBC's All In, longtime liberal columnist Jonathan Alter reacted to President Obama's executive actions on gun control by comparing it to President Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation in 1863 and remarking how heartbreaking it was for Obama to have met with the families of Sandy Hook victims and "see those six-year-olds stacked up like cord wood." Host Chris Hayes began the segment with a number of soundbites from the President and Republican presidential candidates opposed to the move before remarking: "While the substantive reason to be concerned about guns seems clear, in a country where...

Fox News’s Megyn Kelly began Thursday’s edition of The Kelly File by ripping into President Barack Obama and plans for the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to regulate and enforce the diversity of neighborhoods (and particularly wealthy ones). A few hours after the major broadcast networks ignored this story on their evening newscasts, Kelly made clear her disdain with the President and referred to him as “[t]he man who changed your health care system forever†that’s “now pushing to change your neighborhood†and especially “if Uncle Sam feels it is not inclusive enough.â€VideoCiting the administration’s line that they’re...

The three network morning shows combined gave less than two minutes of air time to President Obama's proposed 2015 budget on Tuesday, though they all managed to highlight how the plan "will cut taxes for thirteen and a half million working Americans" [Listen to the audio or watch the video after the jump]. What the NBC, ABC, and CBS broadcasts all ignored was that the debt projections under the President's budget were off by $2.7 trillion compared to recent numbers released by the Congressional Budget Office. As the Washington Post pointed out on Tuesday, "[Obama's budget] forecasts a dramatic reduction...

The three Associated Press reports I've seen on the UAW's failure to win the right to represent hourly workers at the Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee — the first two were covered in NewsBusters posts here and here; the wire service's 3:52 p.m. report is here — all mention in one way or another what UAW President Bob King is now calling "unprecedented outside interference" in the runup to the election. (VW, which can only run the factory with the kind of "workers councils" it has at its other worldwide plants in the U.S. if its workers are represented by...

Former New Orleans mayor Ray Nagin was convicted on 20 of 21 counts of corruption and bribery today. USA Today reporter Rick Jervis did a bit of a profile of Nagin in the course of reporting on the convictions. It included a recounting of the his time at the city's helm during Hurricane Katrina in 2005. But one thing it oh-so-predictably did not include was Nagin's Democratic Party affiliation

I paused a bit before putting this post up because the last thing an AP reporter needs is some guy on the right telling him he did a good job. I suspect that it's not a resume enhancer. That said, there are two reasons not to to ignore Terence Chea's coverage of the Saturday's Walk for Life West Coast in San Francisco. The first is how it contrasts with Brett Zongker's dismissive and incomplete coverage of the far larger DC March for Life the previous Wednesday. For starters, Chea appropriately described the San Francisco march as "massive"; Zongker's story covering...

Don't you love it when liberals ridicule conservatives as idiots while said liberals do something idiotic? Yeah, it's one of my favorite hobbies too, one that guarantees an endless stream of amusing fodder. Latest example comes by way of Bill Press's radio show yesterday. Press, a former California Democratic Party chief and co-host of an earlier iteration of the cable show "Crossfire," was listening to his producer, Peter Ogburn, run through a daily news brief when this exchange could be heard (audio) -- OGBURN: Frank McCourt, the author Frank McCourt, you're familiar, right? PRESS: Why is your face red? OGBURN:...

It’s the end of the year which means for about the next two months, families will be getting together for holiday festivities. To most people, November and December are something to look forward to but to the perpetually unhappy souls over at Democratic Underground, the holidays are a time of torment. Besides the sheer horror that Thanksgiving is to those of the vegan persuasion, many DUers have conservative-leaning relatives who aren’t afraid to speak their ideologically diverse opinions. Things are made even worse by the fact that many of the tender lambs might also be exposed to the propaganda filth...
