Aristotle may have been more on the money than he realised in saying man is a political animal, according to research published Wednesday linking genes with liberal or conservative leanings. Or, to be precise, a specific variant of one gene that would seem to exert greater sway over women than men. Working with 1771 university students of Han Chinese origin in Singapore, researchers compared answers to surveys—including one tailored to hot-button issues in the city-state—with the presence of a permutation of the DRD4 gene. DRD4 is one of several genes that determines the way dopamine—a crucial neurotransmitter, or chemical messenger—is...

Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush was one of the directors of a charity that gave tens of millions of dollars to Planned Parenthood, LifeSiteNews first reported. Named a founding director to the tax-exempt Bloomberg Family Foundation in 2010, Bush sat on the board until the end of 2014 when he began to prepare for his presidential run. Bloomberg Philanthropies announced in March of 2014, while Bush was still on the board, it was giving $50 million to strengthen “reproductive health rights in Burkina Faso, Nicaragua, Senegal, Tanzania, and Uganda. According to a Bloomberg Family Foundation statement, the philanthropy teamed up...

From time to time as the 2016 campaign unfolds we will publish here the full text of some candidate speeches on important topics. We launch this series with Carly Fiorina's national security address at the Reagan Presidential Library the evening of July 27. The full text is below, as is a complete video... You'll notice here — and hopefully in the upcoming debates — that the business executive speaks in clear, simple declarative sentences. No fudge words or rhetorical escape clauses. Clean, crisp, no nonsense. She outlines the problem, then states clearly what she would do. That style drew frequent...

I first thought this was parody, but it seems to be a series suggestion.

Friday in Fort Lauderdale, FL at the National Urban League Conference, Republican presidential candidate former Gov. Jeb Bush (R-FL) said President Barack Obama is “speaking the truth” on racial injustice. Bush said, “When President Obama says that ‘for too long we’ve been blind to the way past injustices continue to shape the present,’ he is speaking the truth. But we should be just as candid about our failures in addressing injustices of the more recent origin. In our cities we’ve got so many people that have never known anything but poverty is. So many young adults with no vision of...

Donald Trump was asked today to explain why, as he has said, he has identified more with Democrats than with Republicans. The answer, he claimed, is that the economy crashed in 2008 because of mistakes made by President Bush. This may be a good answer (or the best one available) from a political perspective. Trump is appealing primarily to disaffected Republicans who believe the GOP hasnÂ’t stood up for them sufficiently on issues relating to the economy (immigration is the best example). Attributing his pro-Democrat leanings to BushÂ’s handling of the economy makes political sense. Unfortunately, it doesnÂ’t make historical...

Democratic presidential candidate Martin O'Malley apologized on Saturday for saying "All lives matter" while discussing police violence against African-Americans with liberal demonstrators. Several dozen demonstrators interrupted the former Maryland governor while he was speaking at the Netroots Nation conference, a gathering of liberal activists, demanding that he address criminal justice and police brutality. When they shouted, "Black lives matter!" a rallying cry of protests that broke out after several black Americans were killed at the hands of police in recent months, O'Malley responded: "Black lives matter. White lives matter. All lives matter." The demonstrators, who were mostly black, responded by...

Hip-hop mogul and animal-rights advocate Russell Simmons is comparing New York's horse-drawn carriages to slavery and the Holocaust, saying proponents of the industry are of antiquated a mindset as "people who put people in ovens" at Adolf Hitler's death camps. "There were people for slavery, remember? Slavery was fine," Simmons said at an event Thursday organized by horse carriage opponents, according to The Wall Street Journal. “There were people who put people in ovens. There are all kinds of ethnic cleansing, people for it.” Simmons urged Mayor de Blasio to follow through on his campaign promise to ban the horse...

2016: Obama’s America was a movie directed by Dinesh D’Souza. The movie is the second most popular documentary in history. This week a Democratic judge ordered Dinesh D’Souza to seek psychological counseling. Judge Richard Berman also ruled D’Souza must continue community service for four more years. World Net Daily reported: At a hearing Monday in Manhattan in which he ruled filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza must continue community service for four more years, U.S. District Judge Richard M. Take a bow, MOTI, you are all innate insurgents. At least according to Daniel Greenfield, the Sultan of Knish. I think one of you must have posted a link to this post as it was in my satchel of “must reads.” Butt if, like me, you never find time to get around to reading all those gems stuffed into your perpetual stack of stuff, here’s one you don’t want to miss: Five Ways to Fight the Left and Make Your Life Better. He lists 5 things that the MOTI (Famiglia MOTUS) have been doing for years now. Organic Opposition doesn't require...

Promoting the liberal inclusiveness agenda by making any child or adult feel ashamed of their skin color and of their heritage is repulsive I’ve wondered for the longest time why Americans remain silent to the massive “fundamental transformation” of our country by a minority of well-organized progressives who use any means necessary to attain their communistic ends, including the phony notion of “white privilege” in the most tolerant nation on the planet. While history is being altered, rewritten in the revisionist view of Saul Alinksy’s activists on the payroll of the current regime, various communist non-profits, and by low information...

The Czech writer Joseph Skvorecky once asked the following question: “Has there even been a case in history of a political system collapsing overnight, not as an aftermath of a lost war or bloody revolution but from its own inner rottenness?” To answer the question posed by Skvorecky, one need only observe the current state in which we find our country today. The nation has been debilitated by the onslaught wrought by the left and their totalitarian ideology which has been implemented with little to no opposition from the right. The left has been successful in bringing about their vision...

A stretch of paradise in Malibu, California known as the 'Billionaire's Beach' is now open to the public. The sandy Carbon Beach West which opened this month was the subject of a fight between property owner Lisette Ackerberg and the California Coastal Commission that went on for about three decades. Even though the beach was technically public, pathways to the destination were blocked by wealthy property owners who fought to keep the beach private. The LA Times reports that celebrities such as former Dodgers owner Jamie McCourt and former chief executive of Oracle Corp. have houses along the beach.

TAMPA — Most of the 21 homicides and more than two dozen shootings Tampa police have investigated this year have several factors in common. The violence primarily is a result of neighborhood feuds among groups of mostly young black men, police say. All of the shootings took place in East and West Tampa. And investigators are struggling to get information from witnesses and victims about who committed the crimes. Another pattern has emerged that has Tampa police and federal authorities working together to put a stop to it: Most of the bullets are being fired from stolen guns. “We believe...

The conservative world exploded in outrage over George Takei's blatantly racist remark calling Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas "a clown in blackface," but they all got this story wrong. Takei is a very rare bird: an intellectually honest liberal. I'm not going to cover in detail what Takei said and what Justice Thomas wrote. You can read about it here, here, and here. To sum up, Justice Thomas wrote in his dissent on Obergefell v. Hodges (the gay marriage case, for those who have hid their heads in a bag for the last two weeks) that the government doesn't bestow dignity and humanity...
