Skip to comments.Carly Fiorina: 'Here's what I will do as Commander in Chief'

From time to time as the 2016 campaign unfolds we will publish here the full text of some candidate speeches on important topics. We launch this series with Carly Fiorina's national security address at the Reagan Presidential Library the evening of July 27.
The full text is below, as is a complete video... You'll notice here and hopefully in the upcoming debates that the business executive speaks in clear, simple declarative sentences. No fudge words or rhetorical escape clauses. Clean, crisp, no nonsense.
She outlines the problem, then states clearly what she would do. That style drew frequent applause from the audience at the Reagan Library, scene of a nationally-televised Republican debate with all the candidates in mid-September.
Fiorina's speech reads well, but is even better when heard, given her sharp, sometimes tart delivery. (Scroll down for complete video of her remarks and the ensuing Q and A's.) It's a refreshing change and not accidental as even Fiorina's words and speaking manner set her apart from from the usual Washington blather uttered by what she calls "the professional political class." .....
And Fiornia's style also, not accidentally, turns the absence of an elected office on her resume into a plus as a fresh outsider unencumbered by the convoluted and ineffective ways that so many Americans see enacted in Congress, which is rewarded by historically low poll approval.. But Fiorina knows her stuff, deftly handling even unscreened questions after her Reagan remarks and in numerous other appearances. .....
"I see a world in dire need of American leadership. I see President Obama and Secretary Clinton always speaking in terms of ambivalence and shades of gray, offering false choices and raising the shadow of doubt about our will to lead."

It's understandable why meritocracy is a big deal for her. So far she definitely stands out from most in the field in style, demeanor, experience and substance. This should help her do well in the debates.
"On my first day in the Oval Office, I will make two phone calls. The first will be to my friend Bibi Netanyahu. I will reassure him that the United States will always stand with the State of Israel.
"My second call will be to the Supreme Leader of Iran. He might not take the call, but he will get the message. I will tell him: New deal. .....
"These two calls are also signals that the United States is back in the leadership business. I will not call Vladimir Putin. We have talked way too much to him. But he too will get the message."
"In order to defeat ISIS, we must be willing to call it what it is: Islamic extremism."

I like her
Trump/Fiorina in 2016
After decades of watching career politicians import immigrants to take away our jobs and move our country toward socialism I had lost all hope.
Career politicians have destroyed the greatest country on Earth by continuously writing laws that have destroyed our jobs, freedom, and businesses and let in illegals who take away what's left.
Then one man appeared on the scene. This man was not a career politician beholden to lobbyists and big daddy donors as ARE ALL The other POLITICIANS. He's a businessman and became a billionaire. This man Donald Trump has finally given me some hope
I reading some of Trump's books .If I reread them and then internalize them then I'd be more successful.
Learn how to think like a billionaireit's as simple as turning the page. Achieving your personal and professional goals has never been so easy. All of Mr. Trump's personally written books have been best sellers and are available at major bookstores and the Trump Store on Fifth Avenue, New York City. For once, the mind of this internationally renowned business mogul is an open book.

I think she is an interesting addition to our field.
Look, she’s far from my first choice but your points aren’t reasons why. No one was going to beat Barbara Boxer in Cali (and no Republican is going to or needs to carry that state in a POTUS election). And that company was screwed up before she got there, wasn’t her fault.
To me “she ain’t all that conservative and she ain’t all that qualified” are much better reasons.
*cough* lost to California’s teacher union which runs the frickin state
Ted Cruz is not a career politician
I stand with Ted
Cruz / Fiorina 2016!
Well I’ve got to like that. I’m not voting for her, but there are things I do like about her.
Were she CINC, she will be saluted willingly and gladly.
Almost the same for Dorkbama, except the salute the military secretly gives him (it) involves only one finger.
I like her on a lot of things, but my conscience needs someone extremely strong on social issues or I just can’t vote for him/her.
Interesting. *scratches chin*
works for me
Trump has created businesses that made him 10 billion dollars and is leading the polls . what have you done? And don’t give me any of your liberal mainstream media talking points . I’ve read many of his books so I know all his life story. You seem to be teamed up with CNN
That would be an excellent ticket.
“Cruz / Fiorina 2016!”
Crossed my mind...like it!
I like her, I hope we get to here more from her.
