  • Poll: Obama worst president since WWII

President Obama is the worst president since World War II, according to a Quinnipiac poll released Wednesday. The poll finds that 33 percent of voters say Obama is the worst since the war, with George W. Bush trailing in second place at 28 percent. The only other president in double digits, at 13 percent, is Richard Nixon, who resigned from office after the Watergate scandal. The results raise the possibility that voters are choosing the presidents who are freshest in their memory. Or they could just think that this century has produced historically bad presidents. Obama ran in 2008 as...
  • The left gears up for Megyn Kelley's interview with Bill Ayers Monday

I watched The Five discuss the preview of Megyn Kelly’s upcoming Bill Ayers interview. Bob Beckel is still claiming that Obama didn’t know Ayers – “met him once” – and the other four supposedly conservative journalists had nothing to contradict him with! Every reader of AT knows that Ayers and Obama worked together - that Ayers hired Obama for the biggest job of his life before becoming President – handing out $100 million dollars of the Annenberg Challenge grants to radical causes, instead of using it to help Chicago’s schoolchildren.

As unlikely as it may seem, we have learned over the years (the last few in particular) that there are indeed some lawmakers who are mind-blowingly stupid. There are also those who have been in Congress for so long that diapers may be in order, if they are not utilizing them already. Some I believe are simply intellectually indolent and don’t keep themselves informed. It’s just a job to them – a job they can become quite wealthy doing but don’t feel compelled to do particularly well.

At Monday's White House Summit on Working Families, first lady Michelle Obama admitted to a few of her own struggles as a working mother while making the case for flexible workplace policies for families. "The first thing I tried to do, which was a mistake, was that I tried the part-time thing…I realized I was getting gypped on that front," she told ABC's Robin Roberts at the event, which aimed to bring attention to strengthening the nation's workforce by addressing various workplace difficulties. "What happened was I got a part-time salary but worked full time."
  • Crist criticized for “flip-flop” after scrapping visit to Cuba

Charlie Crist has scrapped plans to go to Cuba this summer, citing time demands in his campaign for governor and delays in getting federal permission to visit the island nation. “I had to make a decision,” Crist said. “We’ve got to win this thing, and we can’t sap any more of my time or staff’s time to the detriment of victory. … I need to stay focused on Florida.” Crist’s about-face was immediately called a “flip-flop” by Gov. Rick Scott’s campaign, and it follows a recent poll that showed his July plans were not popular with Cuban-American voters in Miami-Dade,...

I told you so.  Elizabeth Warren’s repeated supposed refusals to run for President always were framed in the present tense: I am not running for President. That, of course, technically was correct.  I don’t think anyone of note “is” running for President yet, but many are seriously considering it and likely will run.Nothing makes Warren’s word games more clear than her interview with (my law school classmate) Ruth Marcus of The Washington Post:
  • IRS Emails Backed Up by Outside Email Archiving Company

On Friday, Mac Slavo reported on Congressman Darrell Issa's (R-CA) statement in which he called the Internal Revenue Service's claim that Lois Lerner's hard drive crash resulted in a loss of emails "ridiculous." Most of us know that information from crashed hard drives can be recovered, though it costs a lot of money. However, as Mac pointed out, we could simply obtain a copy from the National Security Agency since they are collecting this kind of information. But something more telling has come to light: The IRS uses as an email archiving company to back up its emails. That's right,...
  • Russia Obsesses Over State Department Spokeswoman

Russia is somewhat obsessed with Jen Psaki. The State Department spokeswoman has turned into Russia’s favorite punching bag as relations with the United States have deteriorated over the crisis in Ukraine. She is demonized on television. Her gaffes are celebrated widely as internet memes on Russian social media. A popular radio morning show even mocked her in a song set to a popular children’s tune. “There is nobody more competent than Psaki, nobody more pretty, or smarter,” sang the chorus, sarcastically. The song accused her of peddling “nonsense” to journalists and urged her to “keep it up, we want to...

House and Senate Republican leaders opposed to Medicaid expansion urged resolution on the state budget impasse Monday. Gov. Terry McAuliffe stressed compromise and vowed that he would not let the government shut down. Republicans accused Democrats favoring expansion of being “reckless and irresponsible” by being willing to extend negotiations beyond the end of the fiscal year in an attempt to get their way. On Sunday, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reported that Senate Democrats were willing to hold out beyond the June 30 end of the fiscal year to make sure Marketplace Virginia was implemented as part of the budget. But McAuliffe...

Hillary Clinton, in a sit-down interview with Fox News, suggested Tuesday that she had doubts from the outset about whether the Benghazi terror attack was triggered by a protest over an anti-Islam film -- though her State Department pushed that narrative for days. "This was the fog of war," Clinton said, when asked about the administration's controversial public explanation of the attack.

It looks as if Hillary Clinton just made the first gaffe of her new book tour, which is widely perceived to be a proxy for her still-unannounced presidential campaign. During an ABC news interview scheduled to air Monday night, Clinton recalled how she "struggled" to purchase "houses" after she and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, left the White House. Both Clintons have embarked on a lucrative speaking career since then, reportedly earning over $100 million in speaking fees alone, and the conservative media quickly jumped on the seemingly tone-deaf remark. "We came out of the White House not only...

National Security Adviser Susan Rice’s comments that Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl served with "honor and distinction" has amplified GOP criticism of President Obama's prisoner swap and undermined Rice’s credibility on Capitol Hill. Independent experts have cast doubt on Rice’s judgment, given questions about whether Bergdahl was captured by the Taliban after deserting his post in Afghanistan. Even allies of the White House are suggesting she stay off the Sunday talk shows. “When I saw her on TV making that honor and distinction comment it just seems so phony to me,” said Andrew J. Bacevich, a professor of history and international relations...

In response to The White House doubles its bet on some bad cards: For no other reason other than morbid curiosity, I'd like to know who wrote the talking points for Susan Rice's appearances on the Sunday talk shows, yesterday. It's not like she had any more credibility to lose, but Rice told some whoppers, yesterday, possibly as Allahpundit notes at Hot Air, in a calculated attempt to set a false narrative, as "most voters will pay attention to this story for 48 hours after Bergdahl’s release and then tune out." Even as the truth was gushing out about the...
