The removal of offensive monuments took a unique turn in Seattle. Mayor Ed Murray asked a cemetery to remove a Confederate monument erected in 1926 but also requested the removal of a large statue of Vladimir Lenin. From the Seattle Times: The monument, erected in 1926 by the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and the Lenin statue are both on private property. Still, Murray said, he believes they should be removed. “Not only do these kinds of symbols represent historic injustices, their existence causes pain among those who themselves or whose family members have been impacted by these atrocities,” Murray...

Nicknamed the Unicorn Killer because his last name means "one horn" in German, Ira Einhorn jumped bail and evaded arrest for 23 years, but eventually the "she went to the neighborhood co-op to buy some tofu and sprouts and never returned" story fell apart. Ira Einhorn was on stage hosting the first Earth Day event at the Fairmount Park in Philadelphia on April 22, 1970. Seven years later, police raided his closet and found the "composted" body of his ex-girlfriend inside a trunk... After 23 years, he was finally extradited to the United States from France and put on trial....

Supporters of India's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have been accused of pulling down a statue of former Soviet leader Vladimir Lenin in Tripura state. Monday's incident happened days after the party swept elections in the north-eastern state, dislodging the Communist government after 25 years. The five-year-old statue in Belonia town was removed with the help of an excavator as supporters cheered. There have been clashes between BJP and Communist party workers in the state. The NDTV news channel quoted eyewitnesses as saying the excavator which brought down the statue was hired by BJP workers.

    The Moscow Times ^ | Feb 2, 2018
A fight erupted between communist party members and local municipal politicians in Moscow this week over a proposal to move a statue of Vladimir Lenin. "It was a special unscheduled meeting, we didn’t invite anyone and were very surprised that a whole horde of them had gathered," the RBC business portal cited local council member Dmitry Maksimov as saying. Maksimov reportedly filed a police complaint after suffering a head wound in the incident. The Communist leader Suraikin denied attacking the deputy and accused local authorities of "attempting to insult the entire Soviet past." Footage on state-run television showed Suraikin gesticulating...
  • Putin: Communist ideology similar to Christianity, Lenin’s body like saintly relics

Maybe I’ll say something that someone might dislike, but that’s the way I see it,” Putin said in an interview for the documentary Valaam, an excerpt of which was broadcast on Russia 1. “First of all, faith has always accompanied us, becoming stronger every time our country, our people, have been through hard times. “There were those years of militant atheism when priests were eradicated, churches destroyed, but at the same time a new religion was being created. Communist ideology is very similar to Christianity, in fact: freedom, equality, brotherhood, justice – everything is laid out in the Holy Scripture,...

Now, let us begin by answering the question which our sermon topic raises: Can a Christian be a communist? I answer that question with an emphatic “no.” These two philosophies are diametrically opposed. The basic philosophy of Christianity is unalterably opposed to the basic philosophy of communism, and all of the dialectics of the logician cannot make them lie down together. They are contrary philosophies. Now, there are at least three reasons why I feel obligated as a Christian minister to talk to you about communism. The first reason grows out of the fact that communism is having widespread influence...
  • 95 Years Ago, the USSR Was Formed… Then Communism Killed a Million People a Year

As America begins preparations for Sunday’s New Year’s Eve festivities, some might be celebrating another holiday — that of the formation of the Soviet Union. The USSR, established Dec. 30, 1922, by Vladimir Lenin, was born out of the same needless bloodshed that would later define it. Five years prior in 1917, the Bolshevik Revolution began, sparking a civil war that would leave millions dead, many by sheer acts of murder committed by competing factions.

Stalin's NKVD started to round up the Kalmkys. Their crime, some had served the Germans. Of the 95,000 ethnic Kalmyks, about half died enroute or during their first winter in Siberia. Stalin's order was absolute. Ethnic Kalmky's were pulled out of the front line infantry and tank units and deported. Included were 21 Kalmyk soldiers that had been awarded "Hero of the Soviet Union." for their service in combat to the Soviet Union.

Last week marked the centenary of the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia. On the night of November 7, 1917, the Winter Palace in Petrograd was occupied by the Bolsheviks. Seventy-two years later, on November 9, 1989, the Berlin Wall was opened. In the intervening period, according to the estimates in The Black Book of Communism, the grand total of victims of communism was between 85m and 100m. Mao Tse-tung alone accounted for tens of millions: 2m between 1949 and 1951, another 3m in the course of the 1950s, a staggering 45m in the man-made famine known as the “Great Leap Forward”,...

On this date in history:1 Year Ago: Donald Trump ‘unexpectedly’ beat Crooked Hillary in the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election. Since then the Media/Entertainment/Russian cabal has done its best to keep hatred alive and divisive politics operative. And Deep State has done everything possible to thwart the implementation of the winner’s agenda. Because they all know what’s better for us than we do.Part of it is that the election is the subject of an ongoing criminal investigation into Russian interference and the open question of whether Donald Trump’s team colluded with foreign agents to kneecap Hillary Clinton and capture the White...
  • OCTOBER REVOLUTION: RUSSIA'S COMMUNISTS WARN OF RIOTS IF LENIN IS BURIED, KADYROV DEMANDS APOLOGY

While Russian President Vladimir Putin is voicing no opinion on the Bolshevik Revolution, it has opened a rift between two of the country’s most outspoken politicians. In a rare example of mainstream political split in Russia, the row has seen threats of riots and demands for apology to victims of the Soviet regime. Ahead of the revolution’s centennial this week, the President of Russia’s Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov joined a chorus of voices from across the political spectrum in Russia, calling for the burial of the uprising’s leader, Vladimir Lenin. For almost a century, the revolutionary’s body has laid embalmed...

This year marks the hundredth anniversary of one of the worst mistakes ever made: the Communist revolution in Russia. Communist regimes went on to kill about 100 million people. Most died in famines after socialist tyrants forced people to practice inefficient collective farming. Millions of others were executed in political purges. Yet when the Russian Revolution happened, people both inside and outside Russia were excited. Crowds cheered Lenin. No longer would nobles rule; no longer would capitalists exploit workers. Now the people would prosper together. British journalist Theodore Rothstein wrote, "The undivided sway of the Imperialist nightmare is at an...

A handful of self-described supporters of President Donald Trump converged on Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood Wednesday to call for the removal of a statue of Russian Communist revolutionary leader Vladimir Lenin that has stood in the neighborhood for 22 years. Protesters Wednesday wore Make America Great Again hats and held signs that said “Lenin = Hitler,” “100 Million Dead” and “Alt-Left Hate,” and they chanted slogans such as “Shame on Seattle,” “Tear hate down,” and “Genocide is not a joke” at passing cars and people grabbing lunch in the arty, tech-heavy neighborhood. Fremont is home to offices of such tech companies...

Seattle Mayor Ed Murray expressed his displeasure in a Confederate statue Lake View Cemetery on Wednesday. Now, on Thursday, he’s officially asking for its removal. That and the removal of the Lenin statue in Fremont. RANTZ: Murray should mind his own business See his entire statement: “In the last few days, Seattleites have expressed concerns and frustration over symbols of hate, racism and violence that exist in our city. Not only do these kinds of symbols represent historic injustices, their existence causes pain among those who themselves or whose family members have been impacted by these atrocities. Fremont's statue of communist leader Vladimir Lenin has once again come under fire. On Wednesday afternoon, a small group had gathered in front of the monument in Fremont calling for its removal. The group was seemingly led by Jack Posobiec, a pro-Donald Trump conspiracy theorist and self-described online "alt-right" activist. Posobiec Periscoped part of the gathering on Twitter. The statue's origin story is well documented.(snip)The statue was toppled in 1989 after the Velvet Revolution toppled communism in Czechoslovakia, and that's when Lewis Carpenter found it in a scrapyard. The English teacher from Issaquah then mortgaged his house to purchase and...

So, how will Freepers be celebrating Earth Day 2017? Personally, I will be clearing an area in the backyard to set up for a compost pile and organic vegetable garden. But first, I need to burn the tires that are there; and I'm thinking that my used motor oil will make an excellent accelerant.

You might not be surprised to learn some deep lessons about authentic Catholic social teaching from a conference at the Vatican. Except if that person you were learning them from was then the head of Breitbart.com, and is now Donald Trump’s chief strategist. That’s right, Steve Bannon—who is now the victim of an appalling character smear by leftists and NeverTrump globalists in the GOP–gave one of the most profound and enlightening talks in recent Vatican history in 2014. See The Stream for highlights. I myself am not surprised. Years before Bannon took over Breitbart.com, I met him at the Ritz...

World War III “A Progressive War” Why Hillary wants World War III is answered best in V.I. Lenin’s own words! Lenin, with principles and tactics precisely enunciated, made particularly urgent the publication of a pamphlet that sums up Social Democratic tactics in relation to war. The pamphlet Socialism and War by Lenin was written in August 1915. Hitler was aware the German edition of the pamphlet was secretly smuggled into Germany – into Berlin, Leipzig, Bremen and other cities, where it was secretly distributed by supporters of the Zimmerwald and by the Karl Liebknecht group. In the autumn of 2016,...

Ninety-nine years ago, Tsar Nicholas II abdicated, and, after a few months of weak parliamentary rule, the Bolsheviks seized power. We call that seizure the Russian (or October) Revolution, but it might better be designated the Bolshevik coup d’état. A party of 10,000 people gained control of an empire occupying one-sixth of the earth’s land area. From the start, they made up for their small numbers with outsized violence. If at first their executions of liberals, socialists, workers who showed independence, and peasants from whom grain was seized at gunpoint seemed like a short-term necessity, it soon became evident that...
