Russian Communists Assault Moscow Deputies Over Lenin Statue
The Moscow Times ^ | Feb 2, 2018

A fight erupted between communist party members and local municipal politicians in Moscow this week over a proposal to move a statue of Vladimir Lenin.

"It was a special unscheduled meeting, we didn’t invite anyone and were very surprised that a whole horde of them had gathered," the RBC business portal cited local council member Dmitry Maksimov as saying.

Maksimov reportedly filed a police complaint after suffering a head wound in the incident. The Communist leader Suraikin denied attacking the deputy and accused local authorities of "attempting to insult the entire Soviet past."

Footage on state-run television showed Suraikin gesticulating at seated officials before cutting to a scuffle in which at least one elderly woman was knocked to the ground.

"In Ukraine, it all began with the demolition of Lenin statues and ended in the [controversial Ukrainian nationalist Stepan] Bandera regime. That’s why we react very strongly to these initiatives," Suraikin told RBC.

Earlier this week, a fist-fight erupted over another Soviet leader — Josef Stalin — between two Russian journalists on a live radio show.

As a southerner I can actually sympathize with the communists in this one case. Why tear down your history? Let it be a lesson for generations.

I noticed that Putin gives the commies plenty of airtime on Russian state TV. Obvious controlled “opposition”, IMO.

Never Remember: Searching for Stalin's Gulags in Putin's Russia

They journey from Moscow to Sandarmokh, a forested site of mass executions during Stalin's Great Terror; to the only Gulag camp turned into a museum, outside of the city of Perm in the Urals; and to Kolyma, where prisoners worked in deadly mines in the remote reaches of the Far East. They find that in Vladimir Putin's Russia, where Stalin is remembered as a great leader, Soviet terror has not been forgotten: it was never remembered in the first place.

I’m sure that there are several states in the U.S. that would gladly pay lots for V.L.’s statue to be relocated to their statehouse or a university...

To put it bluntly, former communists have no interest in discussing the past.

But do we, in the West, remember the Soviet past any better?

For if we forget the Gulag, sooner or later we will forget our own history too. Why did we fight the Cold War, after all? Was it because crazed right-wing politicians, in cahoots with the military-industrial complex and the CIA, invented the whole thing and forced two generations of Americans to go along with it? Or was there something more important happening?

Ha. Anti-Putin America and EU countries give Trump’s opposition most maybe not all airtime on mainstream telly.

Poor general Robert E. Lee.

Radical liberals claim he should have been hanged, drawn and quartered.

This is EXACTLY the same sort of crap used by Leftists against Trump. “Oh, we have to impeach and remove Trump now - using violence in the streets if necessary - because Nazi Germany started with [fill in the blank] just like Trump is doing.”

“Vladimir Putin’s Russia, where Stalin is remembered as a great leader”

And in China (America’s main business partner), where the communist Mao ZeDong is remembered as the great leader.

Chinese people have the right to protect and cherish their national heroes.

The biggest victims of Russian and Chinese historical revisionism, are the Russians and Chinese.

It’s very sad, for example, that Chinese Christians are incredibly persecuted under Xi Jinping.

For Chinese people, one of Mao’s great achievements: He sent Chinese troops to Korean war fighting against American military. Well equipped American troops suffered defeat, General MacArthur
got fired.

Lovely, in the mean time my amazing President hosted incredibly brave North Korean defectors in the White House today as they shared their harrowing stories of living under a brutal, communist regime.

A rare voice of sanity. Rewriting history is a first sign of Orwellian society.
You shouldn’t be a Communist to be against statue demolition.

So why aren’t there any statues of, say, Czar Nikolas II? Technically, we should still have statues of him since he was a large part of Russian history. Heck, we don’t even have statues of King Louis XVI, and that’s DESPITE his being involved in our War of Independence.

Even though I don’t like the whole removal of statues of Confederates, I do think that Lenin’s statue SHOULD be removed, as well as Marx’s statue. The more we acknowledge that the event happened, the more likely it is for Russia to become Communist again. Don’t forget, Marx based the whole Communist ideology on Robespierre’s Reign of Terror, and made clear he wanted a gorier remake of it. As did Lenin. Heck, did people forget Stalin? Heck, no! Putin’s making sure they remember him at all, and they’re supporting him even though he slaughtered multiple people.

Do you realize it is a slander? It is of the same sort as linking Republicans to Ku-Klux-Klan.

Opposition ‘reformers’ propped by the Western media in Russia are Marxists. Putin is not.

1. I don’t link the KKK with Republicans, I make SURE they are linked with Democrats as they are supposed to be.

2. Putin IS a Marxist, or have you forgotten that he had the audacity to compare Communism to Christianity, when he knows full well that they aren’t linked and if anything a Communist’s mission is to KILL Christians and any religious people as Marx commanded them to do. And don’t think his defending Russian Orthodoxy means he’s not a Marxist. Need I remind you that even Stalin allowed the Russian Orthodox to continue to a certain extent during World War II?
