The Ford Foundation, the main financial backer of public broadcasting in its formative days, is undertaking its largest initiative to support nonprofit media in more than 25 years, officials said yesterday. The initiative will funnel $50 million over five years to a baker's dozen of public television, radio and other media organizations. A major focus of the effort will be to spur the creation and distribution of public affairs programming, particularly programs dealing with international affairs. The Public Broadcasting Service and National Public Radio will receive the largest grants, $10 million and $7.5 million respectively. But less well-known entities will...

On Wednesday, October 27, Michael Moore will visit Fairmont WV (population 18,000) with a public college (Fairmont State) with 6,500 students, as part of his 60-city "Slacker Tour" which is in reality a series of anti-Bush political rallies paid for by the 60 colleges. The fee for coming here is $20,000, but he has received $35-40,000 at other colleges, so that he will be paid over $2,000,000 to spread his hateful and powerful propaganda. Info on the Michael Moore propaganda visit to Fairmont State and the patriotic pro-Bush counter-rally preceding the event: ***************************** The Moore event, part of FSU's so-called...

Sorry for the vanity but if anyone has been watching the FX cable channel you may have seen the cheap shot which Hollywierd couln't resist taking at gun ownership. The special was a re-encactment of the North Hollywood shoot out a few years ago. It was a fine moment for our couraeguos LAPD, but the producers turned the show into an anti-gun propaganda piece. In particular was the moment when LAPD went to B & B Gun Sales in the valley to pick up rifles for use against the bank robbers. This actually happened. I have been to the B &...

WASHINGTON, Dec. 26 — The National Cancer Institute, which used to say on its Web site that the best studies showed "no association between abortion and breast cancer," now says the evidence is inconclusive. A Web page of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention used to say studies showed that education about condom use did not lead to earlier or increased sexual activity. That statement, which contradicts the view of "abstinence only" advocates, is omitted from a revised version of the page. Critics say those changes, far below the political radar screen, illustrate how the Bush administration can satisfy...
