Patriotic Anti-Michael Moore Rally in Fairmont WV Wednesday (Suggestions?)
self | 10/25/2004 | Self

Posted on 10/25/2004 7:17:37 PM PDT by wildandcrazyrussian

On Wednesday, October 27, Michael Moore will visit Fairmont WV (population 18,000) with a public college (Fairmont State) with 6,500 students, as part of his 60-city "Slacker Tour" which is in reality a series of anti-Bush political rallies paid for by the 60 colleges. The fee for coming here is $20,000, but he has received $35-40,000 at other colleges, so that he will be paid over $2,000,000 to spread his hateful and powerful propaganda.

Info on the Michael Moore propaganda visit to Fairmont State and the patriotic pro-Bush counter-rally preceding the event:

*****************************

The Moore event, part of FSU's so-called "Lecture Series", will begin at 8:00 p.m. at Fairmont State University, which is on Locust Avenue in Fairmont, WV.

Moore is being paid $20,000 of the college students' activity-fee money to spread his particular form of hatred just days before this important election.

The College Republicans, a strong presence on campus, invite all to join in a counter-rally, starting at 6:15 p.m. October 27

Kristin House, head of FSU College Republicans, says "We want all of Fairmont State lined with Bush/Cheney supporters. We will meet at 6:15 pm on the quad in front of the Education Building. We will rally our supporters, distribute signs, stickers, posters, and banners, and then line all entrances to the school and to the Feaster Center (where Moore will speak). We will do this is a positive fashion - we just want all of FSU, Fairmont, even all of West Virginia to know that Mr. Moore and his lies are not welcome here!"

Come join if you can!

Does anyone have suggestions?

The time period 6:15 to 8:00 p.m. will be dark with no real close street lights on the main street. I am trying to think of ways to provide illumination for the 4' x 8' signs and the crowd. It would be a shame to have hundreds of people unseen in the darkness.

You could burn him in effigy but it might take out half the town.

Perhaps a sign with him and Leni Reifenstal (sp?). And the text something along the lines of "the torch has been passed".

Or an unflattering picture of Moore with his statement that the terrorists in Iraq are like our minutemen.

Interesting idea. I didn't mention that this has been in the planning for a couple of weeks, and there are over 300 identified Bush supporters (not all Republican) among the student body. Also, the call has gone out region-wide and they expect quite a few students from colleges within 50-60 miles. The idea is to have a rally, then form a welcoming committee for the expected 4,000 attendees, with a crowd of us at each of the two main entrances; then a line of pro-Bush demonstrators up the hill (I think) and a large crowd in front of the event.

The College Republicans are also showing Morris's "FahrenHYPE 911" every day this week.

If you can, try to get press attention. They bring their own lights for such events. To get lighting yourself it's gonna take some cash.

Get a generator and rent some lights of your own. If you have a big crowd it shouldn't be difficult to get everyone to pitch in. Also, contact your local GOP HQ. I bet they would be more than happy to help out. You may also want to contact other like minded organizations to join you. Moore will have his loser fans there in full force and you will be easily outnumbered and outshined. With other organizations you will have increased numbers and funds for the counter rally.

Considering other things that have happened in WV during this campaign, don't be surprised if there is a strong turn out of Sturmabteilungsman to harrass and intimidate anyone who dares interfere with the L3 word from on high.
Be prepared. They would just love for some hatefilled Republicans to dare defend themselves. It would give them an excuse to hurt someone and the MSM would use it for a cause celebre.

I love when democrats bring out Michael Moore. Best advertising the Republicans and the President can get. Everything laughs at this guy.

There is a list of some 60 lies in his film that is floating around the 'net -- there have been threads on FR that have them. Why not print these up one one piece of paper and make as many copies as possible? Hand these out tomorrow, so students have a chance to digest them before he gets there.

When he does arrive, he will face a (potentially) informed audience, and may be in for a shock!

Personally I think you should infultrate it and scatter all around the arena. When He starts talking, one of you shouts LIAR! He'll get thrown out. Then when he starts up, another one stands up and yells LIAR. Do this throughout the night until he gives up trying to make a point. Same tactic used by Libs. Give them a taste of their own intolerant medicine.

I have seen the list of 60 deceits in the Fahrenheit 911 but it runs about 40 pages (at least dave copen's version), unless you know of a shorter version. I am not a student myself, just trying to help them, and I could offer to make hundreds of copies of something short, as you suggest.

I do not know why Moore is coming here with 3,000 colleges to choose from but it may have to do with the fact that this county is the only one in the northern half of WV that didn't have a majority for President Bush in 2000 (but came close), primarily because of heavy union control. But then if he is just massaging the base, does that mean he is just in for the money ($2,000,000) rather then really trying to make a difference?

I have not seen a one-page version, and can understand why a 'full explanation' on some of the points would take a lot of space.

It would also work to state that there are 60, and give as many examples as possible - using those that are easy to describe. Even 10 or 15 would be enough to take the air out of Mooron's very large windbag, and show him to be a liar.

The original plan, once they announced that every student, faculty member, or staff member could get one free ticket and others could buy them for $5, was that hundreds of conservative students could scoop them up and then not show up, so that there would be way less then 4,000 people there. But then the administration decided to just let anyone in.

It is guaranteed that no conservative student will be able to ask a reasonable question, so it is tempting to think of alternatives.

The College Republicans habe put a lot of work into this, and I can hardly wait to see what ends up happening.

I can tell you some of what I saw at the protest in Salem, Oregon...

There were a lot of good signs - the Protest Warriors were there, with their usual signs. (see their website).

There was a booth set up with free pizza for us right-wing-extremist-wacko demonstrators (Be sure to keep the pizza where Moore can't see it, if you do that).

Some of the better signs that I remember:

NO MOORE MANURE
STUDENT FUNDS WASTED ON MOORE
KERRY IS FRENCH FOR FLIP-FLOP
MOORE IS 911 LBS OF COMMIE PORK
NO MOORE LIES
FarenHYPE 911

A couple of people had signs with a big pink heart in the middle that read

Michael MOORE
+
Josef GOEBBELS

One guy was hanging around the entrance waving one of the "Goebbels" signs and yelling "CHECK YOUR BRAINS AT THE DOOR... NO BRAINS ALLOWED IN THE BUILDING" at the Moore-ons as they went in.

A couple of Jews showed up and were yelling "MOORE HATES JEWS" at the Moore-ons - *that* seemed to really *bother* them.

One guy had printed up 500 small flyers for "FarenHYPE 911", with details on where it could be rented, and handed them all out to incoming Moore-ons.

There was a rumor that a couple of demonstrators got ticketed for burning a U.N. flag. I didn't see that, but more power to them if they did... it would be worth the ticket.

There were A LOT of extra tickets to the supposedly "Sold Out" (yeah, right) show floating around, that the incoming Moore-ons were trying to give away... some of us right-wing extremist thugs got them and went into the building carrying Bush/Cheney/etc. Moore-bait signs (I'm not sure how far they got).

The back entrance to the building, where the hog always waddles in, was scoped out in advance and a protest line planned, but I'm not sure whether the plan got carried out. It's a good idea, anyway.

There were a couple of big glass doors across the building from where the pig was squealing, right where he could see them, and some of the demonstrators stood there for the entirety of his grunting and oinking, waving their signs.

It was *fun*. Try to get some kids involved - there was a large contingent of teenage kids from some Republican organization there who really livened things up.

Good luck, and enjoy the pig roast!!

(By the way, if you're really Russian, thanks very much for coming over here and helping to rescue US from Communism!! We need all the help we can get with that!!!)

Great suggestions! The students are doing a great job organizing and they deserve our support.

Forgot to mention that some professors are giving extra credit to attend the Moore event, but as far as I know none are offering extra credit to attend the counter-rally! Also from what I hear, some of the typically left-wing faculty (such as speech classes) are requiring attendance, which is a bit twisted since I do not believe Moore is actually giving a lecture in the "Celebration of Ideas Lecture Series", but will have a multimedia propaganda fest. I do hope that this backfires on the left-wingers!

Interestingly, here in Fairmont WV just a week ago the Democrats had a political rally on a Saturday, heavily advertising special guest speakers Senator Edward Kennedy (leftwing-MA) and Senator Robert byrd (leftwing-WV), although Byrd got sick at the last minute. The newspaper reported a total turnout of 1,000 which is pitifully small for this area! (We had 1,400 at a weekday VP Cheney appearance in a nearby town, with just four days advance notice.)

Since I have been unable to get very many Bush/Cheney yard signs, bumper stickers, or placards frm the B/C campaign people, I am glad that you provided some good ideas for hand-made signs. I'll check with the students as far as what they have themselves.

I found a 4-page PDF version, which is much more manageable since I can photocopy on two sheets back to back, and do a few hundred copies. I'll ask them what they think.

Terrific!

I just remembered something we used to do in front of the i42 WH -- hand out FReeper "business cards" with the URL on them, and a phrase like "Want to know what REALLY goes on in the White House?"

Back then you could get a box of 1,000 for $10 at Staples.

This would be good for ALL appearances by Mooron or other rats...don't have to prepare and copy a message, just send them HERE!
