It never ceases to amaze me how left-wingers love to rewrite rules as they go along. When “innocent until proven guilty” doesn’t help their cause, they flip it on its head and pretend the old reality never existed. Since Republicans are largely timid children when it comes to a fight, Democrats are able to get away with it. But what if they weren’t?Congressman Elijah Cummings (D-MD) loves to moralize about President Trump, particularly about his finances. There’s nothing he would like more than to gain access to Trump’s tax returns, which, if he got them, would undoubtedly have select portions...

As the Director of the Office of Personnel Management, Kay Coles James oversaw a federal civilian workforce of 1.8 million responsible for $650 billion. James chairs the Women’s Suffrage Centennial Commission and OPM recently celebrated her tenure as part of Women’s History Month. She had also been Virginia’s Secretary of Health and Human Resources, she sits on three corporate boards, and is a member of the NASA Advisory Council. She’s also an African-American conservative woman. It’s hard to know which of these three elements of her identity attracted the most fury from leftists after Google appointed her to its external...

Caracas (AFP) - Walking for hours, making oil lamps, bearing water. For Venezuelans today, suffering under a new nationwide blackout that has lasted days, it's like being thrown back to life centuries ago. El Avila, a mountain that towers over Caracas, has become a place where families gather with buckets and jugs to fill up with water, wash dishes and scrub clothes. The taps in their homes are dry from lack of electricity to the city's water pumps. "We're forced to get water from sources that obviously aren't completely hygienic. But it's enough for washing or doing the dishes," said...

Former House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) said Monday that President Donald Trump could lose the 2020 presidential election if his “personality” is the central focus of his campaign. “The person who defines that race is going to win the race. If this is about Donald Trump and his personality, he isn’t going to win it,” Ryan said during a lecture in Vero Beach, Florida, according to TCPalm.com. The former speaker said President Trump should focus on issues of substance, rather than not style, if he wants to beat his Democrat presidential rival next year. Potential Democrat presidential contenders include Sens....

Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, complete with lei, took the stage at SXSW in Austin to do her first town hall as a presidential candidate Sunday night on CNN. The 37-year-old Iraq War veteran is running for president and would be the youngest, first woman, and first Hindu president in our nation’s history. Many pundits have placed Gabbard in the center or even right of the Democratic Party. If so, the center or right of the Democratic Party is pretty leftist. Her first question was about American intervention in the rest of the world, and how she could be against American...

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) said in an interview broadcast Sunday that it's "wrong" to call her a socialist as Republican critics seek to use the label against her and other progressive Democrats running for president. "I believe in markets. Markets that work," Warren told CBS News correspondent Ed O'Keefe in an interview that aired on "Face the Nation." "Markets that have a cop on the beat and have real rules and everybody follows them," she continued. "I believe in a level playing field. And as long as we've got that then we will get the best out of markets because...

Social media has been full of the Democrats talking about the Stormy Daniels affair with the joy and sniggers of three-year-olds who just discovered there’s a word for what you do on the potty. This is predictable and not at all upsetting, because if these people had any political sophistication and understanding of history, they wouldn’t support a party that is more fully behind the full-on communism that has killed a hundred million human beings in the 20th century and bids fair to at least an attempt to continue its work in the twenty-first. Also, most of them have the...

Campus police have announced an arrest in the felony assault case involving a man caught on video punching another man on the UC Berkeley campus last week. The University of California Police Department announced the arrest by email at 2:10 p.m. Friday. Police said UCPD arrested Zachary Greenberg on a warrant involving a Feb. 19 assault on Sproul Plaza. Police said last week that they had identified the suspect in the case but did not release his name until Friday. Videos of the incident went viral last week after they were shared by conservative groups and figures calling the assault...

Billionaire entrepreneur and philanthropist Richard Branson said Thursday that taxing the rich "makes sense," arguing the extremely affluent have a responsibility to tackle some of the biggest problems in the world, including wealth disparities. "People like myself are incredibly fortunate," the Virgin Group founder told CNBC's Morgan Brennan in an interview. "I suspect there should be higher taxes for the wealthy around the world and I don't think they would object to that." Branson — with a net worth of $4.1 billion, according to Forbes — is part of the growing circle of elite business leaders questioning wealth disparity in...

Left-wing billionaire George Soros, in a rare op-ed, has fired a warning shot to what he describes as the “sleeping pro-European majority” ahead of the European Parliament elections in May -- saying Europe needs to "wake up before it is too late" and before nationalist parties take control. “Europe is sleepwalking into oblivion, and the people of Europe need to wake up before it is too late,” the Hungarian-American financier, known for his promotion of left-wing policies, he wrote for Project Syndicate.

When two people share the same goals, they can disagree – even strongly disagree - and still have a productive discussion about how to reach those shared objectives. As comedian and author Owen Benjamin explains, the problem with America today is we no longer share the same goals, and that's tearing us apart. Video length is 4:39. If you are interested in watching the video, you better hurry before the lefties at Google take it down.

Democrats gearing up for a White House race in 2020 (reports say there will be two dozen or more) are sprinting to the left at such a clip that it’s now starting to make Hillary Clinton look like Ronald Reagan. The newest candidate in the field — already being embraced by liberal CNN, which gave her an hour long “town hall” this week — is Sen. Kamala D. Harris, and hoo boy, is she a doozy. Ms. Harris is backing every radical idea out there, joining forces with the likes of Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and Sen. Bernard Sanders...

Vice Media CEO Nancy Dubuc announced to employees Friday morning that the news outlet will slash its headcount by 10 percent as part of a “strategic” restructuring. A Vice Media spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter that 250 of its 2500 staffers will be let go to refocus its growth efforts in production and branded content. Employees from departments, including finance and IT, are expected to be impacted by the decision. “Having finalized the 2019 budget, our focus shifts to executing our goals and hitting our marks,” Dubuc (pictured) wrote in a company-wide memo. “We will make Vice the best manifestation...

For the world’s richest man, charity begins — and stays — at home. Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos has given only a tiny fraction of his $160 billion fortune to philanthropic causes, falling far behind fellow billionaires such as Bill and Melinda Gates and former New York mayor Michael Bloomberg, public records show. Although Bezos, 55, and his estranged wife MacKenzie recently pledged $2 billion to a new charitable initiative, their previous giving amounts to a total of just over $145 million or .0906 percent — far less than one percent — of their net worth. Out of $100,000,...

If you’re Christian, shut up. That’s been the unmistakable message of our current culture. Karen Pence has been lambasted for her decision to teach at a Christian school. Sen. Hirono, D-Hawaii, after asking a judicial nominee about his membership in the Knights of Columbus, has tied the organization to the “alt right.” And a group of teenage Catholic schoolboys waiting for a bus at the March for Life, who didn’t know the mob-approved way to handle a Native American activist walking up to them, are fighting for their reputations. The liberal Left continue to push their radical agenda against American...

If socialists insist that "real socialism" has never been tried, it follows that neither has "real capitalism." It’s a familiar scene. A socialist and a critic of socialism are engaged in heated debate. The critic invariably raises what the socialist considers a hackneyed and lazy objection: “Well what about what happened in the Soviet Union? Or in Maoist China? Those were socialist states. Are you really endorsing such systems? Don’t they prove that socialism doesn’t work?”

Police bodycam video shows the moments right before an Oregon officer fatally shoots the parent of a student outside of a middle school following a confrontation. The fatal shooting happened Jan. 11 at Cascade Middle School in Eugene, following a custodial dispute involving 30-year-old Charles Landeros. The video was released Thursday after the Lane County district attorney ruled that the officer’s use of deadly force was justified.

After days of outrage and condemnations, the Covington affair has revealed a disturbing bigotry among far too many media figures and outlets on the left.At a few days’ remove from the Covington Catholic High School incident at the Lincoln Memorial, we can be reasonably sure there will be no apologies or corrections forthcoming from the major media outlets that rushed to vilify the students involved. The New York Times, Washington Post, CNN, and dozens of lesser news organizations that condemned the high schoolers from Kentucky have not retracted or walked back their initial, warped narrative: that racist white teens harassed...

The parliamentary leader of Germany's largest opposition party has urged the dissolution of the NATO alliance. "NATO must be dissolved and replaced by a collective security system including Russia," Sahra Wagenknecht told Germany's "Funke" media group. Germany's Left Party has previously called for warmer ties with Russia and scrapping the security alliance.
