Chapter of Free Republic staged a rally for our Iraqi friends in Lafayette Park in front of the White House. The rally, held on October 25, was hastily put together in two weeks because the Iraqis wanted to send a message of support for President Bush before the U.S. election on November 2.About 30 Iraqis along with a dozen Freepers attended the rally. The media turnout was mixed. Local Washington area media ignored the rally, but NBC, CNN, Fox News Channel, Al Hurra and Al Arybia (sp) all...

There is great media interest in tonight's candlelight vigil in honor of President Reagan at Lafayette Park in front of the White House. While we've been working hard to contact as many people as possible to let them know about the vigil, I'm posting this announcement in hopes of reaching anyone in the D.C. area on FR who missed last night's announcement. The vigil will start at 6 p.m. and end around dusk (8-8:30 p.m.) Please bring candles, flags and other tributes to President Reagan. The weather should be fine for the duration. This is a family event, so bring the kids...

We are going to hold a candlelight vigil on Sunday night at Lafayette Park in Washington DC at 6 PM. Please bring candles and any kind of tributes you would like to share. We are building a website at www.reaganvigil.com. It would be wonderful to have candlelight vigils taking place across the globe. So if you are receiving this anywhere outside the beltway, think about possibly holding a vigil at your state Capital, or even in your hometown at the main town square. Reaganvigil.com should be up and running shortly which will serve as a good organizing place, but in...

"When I showed up, a few moonbats were slowly circling around the stage, gathering their righteous energy for the impending rage against the machine. The crowd included button-hawkers, LaRouche supporters, some misguided college gals and a couple of hippy booksellers. When I took the picture of the books, I was questioned by the lady behind the table as to whether I was a journalist. I told her "no, more of a freelance hobbyist," at which point I got a barrage of questions from her and her friend, who seemed acutely sensitive to the possibility that someone may be taking photos...
