The mayor of Lexington, Kentucky, says after the events in Charlottesville, Virginia, he is taking the steps to remove two Confederate-era statues from the lawn of a former courthouse. Mayor Jim Gray tweeted Saturday he will ask the Lexington-Fayette County Urban County Council at its Tuesday work session to ask a state military commission for permission to take down the statues of John Hunt Morgan and John C. Breckinridge. Gray tweeted he intended to make the announcement next week, but the "tragic events in Charlottesville" had accelerated his announcement.

Sources close to McConnell say he is stunned by Trump's attacks, which have only increased in recent days, as an attack on a member of his own team. Some in the Trump administration, however, think McConnell should have seen it coming. A senior administration official expressed “100 percent agreement” with the president that McConnell has not done enough to advance his legislative agenda. The source cited McConnell’s failure to pass healthcare reform and the record-slow pace in confirming his nominees to key executive branch positions. Trump and his allies recognize he was elected to the White House despite the barrage...

Should Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell step down from the top position in Congress, Republicans will be looking for someone savvy enough to accomplish a difficult legislative to-do list and trusted by the president. President Donald Trump has not held back in his repeated criticisms of McConnell. Trump blames him for failing to repeal Obamacare in the first six months that Republicans controlled both the Congress and the presidency. A Senate majority leader under Trump has a difficult job of working to pass complex legislation, including Obamacare repeal, immigration reform, tax reform and a massive infrastructure spending bill, in a...

Allegra Schawe-Lane and Dane Lane filed the lawsuit today in U.S. District Court in Covington, Kentucky. They allege they were targeted with threats, slurs and sexual harassment by co-workers at a shipping facility in Hebron, Kentucky.

RUSH: How about Mitch McConnell? Have you heard this? McConnell says… He’s the Senate majority leader, for those of you in Rio Linda. You know, I suspect that people in Rio Linda know this. Mitch McConnell said the reason why they’re not getting anything done is because expectations have been raised way too high, and these artificial time limits, they just don’t work. This is not how legislation gets done. You don’t impose artificial timelines, and then you don’t set these awfully too-high expectations. Senator McConnell, you know, we’ve spoken on the phone many times, and you know I respect...

The victim, whose name was not released, suffered burns on more than half of his body and was taken by helicopter to a Cincinnati burn center for treatment, according to the sheriff’s office. He was listed in critical condition. Vera Wooten, 40, was arrested in London on a charge of first-degree assault. Tonight Ed Rollins, the Reagan campaign director in 1984, said it was time for Mitch McConnell to step down as Majority leader. Ed Rollins: I thought it was pretty outrageous. He better look in the mirror.. As I said before was fairly good defensive person stopping things. He certainly isn’t very good at offense… It’s time for change. There are several other members of the he 52 who can step forward. I think he’s tired.

he Governor of Kentucky is lashing out at local news broadcasters after one flew a drone over his multi-million dollar mansion which critics say he purchased in a 'sweetheart' property deal. In March, Governor Matt Bevin purchased a 150-year-old restored mansion and 10 acres of land in Anchorage, Jefferson County for an estimated $1.6 million from Neil Ramsey, a friend and Bevin campaign donor, according to the Courier-Journal. Bevin decided to buy the home after determining that the 25-room, 18,428-square foot Governor's mansion in Frankfort was difficult to secure and not suitable for his large family. Bevin has a wife...

Last week Operation Save America (formerly known as Operation Rescue), conducted a seven-day rally, several hundred strong, in Louisville, Kentucky. The epicenter of the campaign was the last abortion mill in the state: EMW Women’s Surgical Center, a brown brick building on 2nd and West Market, guarding its 20 feet of sidewalk with nearly a dozen “No Trespassing” signs.Taped out in yellow and black around the EMW entrance, stood a federally-mandated temporary “buffer zone,” prohibiting OSA leaders from nearing the clinic entrance. In May, Rusty Lee Thomas, director of OSA, along with 10 determined associates, had chosen to sit down...

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - A group called Indivisible Kentucky is garnering attention for the billboard it put up in Louisville. The billboard sent a loud and clear message to Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.): “You make us sick. #DitchMitch2020.” According to WDRB, the sign went up on the side of I-65 and can be seen from the southbound side. The message went up at a time when Republicans in the U.S. Senate attempted and failed to pass a so-called “skinny repeal” of Obamacare under the majority leadership of McConnell, this after years of preparation time and Obamacare opposition. McConnell called the failure “a disappointment.”

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R) on Friday called for the repeal of the 17th Amendment and the return to senators selected by state legislatures after the Senate GOP's effort to repeal and replace ObamaCare died in a late-night vote. The 17th Amendment was ratified in 1913 and established the popular election of senators. Previously, senators were elected by state legislatures. @GovMikeHuckabee Time to repeal 17th Amendment. Founders had it right-Senators chosen by state legislatures. Will work for their states and respect 10th amid The Senate's "skinny repeal" of ObamaCare failed late Thursday night by a vote of 51-49. Yesterday morning, the rationale for why conservatives across the country should support Republican Party candidates and enable the GOP to control Congress was completely shattered. By losing a 49-51 vote, the Republican led U.S. Senate failed a pass a “skinny” repeal of Obamacare, condemning the nation to more suffering from the horrors of socialized medicine. It was a stunning failure for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), who was tasked with crafting legislation that would attract at least 50 Republican votes. In the end, McConnell was only able to muster 49 Republican votes, so the reform measure failed. Three turncoat...

The Executive Branch Ethics Commission has thrown out a pair of complaints accusing Gov. Matt Bevin of accepting an improper gift by spending $1.6 million to buy a home in March from a state contractor and member of the Kentucky Retirement Systems board that had been valued at around $2.5 million by the Jefferson County Property Valuation Administrator. In letters dated Wednesday and first reported by Kentucky Today, the commission’s executive director, Kathryn Gabhart, informed Rep. Darryl Owens, D-Louisville, and Richard Beliles, chairman of Common Cause Kentucky, that their complaints had been unanimously dismissed by the panel at its meeting...

A federal judge set up a buffer zone outside the last abortion clinic in Kentucky on Friday to keep pro-life protesters away from the area. The ruling comes ahead of a protest planned for next week by the group Operation Save America, which uses controversial tactics to protest abortion. In May, police arrested several pro-lifers from the group when they blocked the entrance to EMW Women’s Clinic in Louisville, Kentucky. The arrests were part of a planned effort by the group Operation Save America to risk “arrest to rescue their preborn neighbor,” according to the group. Federal prosecutors requested a...

The Kentucky Tourism Arts and Heritage Cabinet has suspended an incentive agreement worth up to $18 million with a Noah’s Ark-themed attraction in Grant County because the park transferred its main property to a non-profit affiliate. The July 18 cabinet letter to Ark Encounter attorney James Parsons said the ark park’s recent actions put it in breach of the agreement with the state to refund a portion of sales tax collected at the site, which opened last July with a large-scale replica of Noah’s Ark.
