That evening at the Burlington Mall food court, the first things one noticed were some uniformed Burlington police and also several uniformed mall cops. The mall cops approached anyone they suspected was a reporter and told them they couldn't take photos or videos. (For the flood of people on "Appreciation Day" there were no police that we could see and maybe three mall cops. And lots of people took photos and videos the entire time with no trouble.) Around 7:45 pm about a dozen or so activists suddenly came marching into the food court and gathered in front of Chick-fil-A....

A gay activist group “re-launched” a boycott of the embattled Chick-fil-A restaurant chain, with a protest at the only Chicago store Wednesday afternoon. Protesters gathered at 4:30 p.m. at the 30 E. Chicago store. In a statement, the group Gay Liberation Network is seeking to boycott what they claim is millions of dollars that is used to promote discrimination against gays. The restaurant became a lightning rod for controversy last month when the company’s CEO Dan Cathy said “we are inviting God's judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at Him and say 'We know better than you...

Gay/Lesbian community is blaming both FoxNews and Mike Huckabee for their failure. That is documented in stories by the New York Daily News and Los Angeles Times. Of course, people may have been confused by the wording of the day: it was billed as Marriage Equality day. To the average person, what does Marriage Equality mean? Sounds like Double Speak. Facebook is one source for this story. National Marriage [promoted by Gays/Lesbians] Equality Day Another is the Los Angeles Times. New York Daily News is another: Gay marriage battle moves from Chick-fil-A to Starbucks as supporters plan ‘National Marriage Equality...

Gay marriage activists had a vision: Tuesday would be their clarion call for consumers to reject Chick-fil-A ... crowding into Starbucks and other more sympathetic companies. Though its still early in the day, National Marriage Equality Day...seems to be getting a mostly mild start. A Facebook profile created for the event by Equally Wed, a lesbian and gay wedding magazine, shows more than 34,000 people signed up to attend. But a photo page populated by submissions from supportive consumers had fewer than 20 images just before noon on the East Coast. ... “Let's show the right that the left can...
  • Chick-fil-A "Kiss-In" Nothing But A Three-Ring Media Circus

Media Bias: What if they gave a news event and no one came? That's the story of the Chick-fil-A "Kiss-In" called by gay rights activists and copiously covered by the press. The real story is how the media played it up. In a dishonest bid to discredit the authentic display of national unity Aug. 1 over free-speech rights at Chick-fil-A, a fast-food chain whose CEO supports traditional marriage, the mainstream media marshaled their troops to cover what was billed as a "kiss-in" counterdemonstration by gay rights activists at the same outlets last Friday. One problem: The media outnumbered the kissers....

Gay marriage activists are planning to swarm Starbucks on Tuesday in an attempt to counter the record sales from last week’s Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day. The chicken chain enjoyed a surge of support during the Wednesday event, dreamed up by former presidential candidate Mike Huckabee after Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy went on the record backing the “biblical definition of the family unit.” A follow-up protest from Chick-fil-A critics on Friday, which was dubbed Same Sex Kiss Day, was more subdued.

Members of the Gay Liberation Network, a local direct-action LGBT rights group, and other LGBT activists have called for a third protest outside of the River North Chick-fil-A — this time on Wednesday, Aug. 8 at 4:30 p.m. “As our movement against Anita Bryant showed a generation ago, even very entrenched bigots can be defeated by smart and effective use of boycotts, demonstrations and other direct mobilizations of LGBTI’s and our allies,” said Andy Thayer of the Gay Liberation, the group which initiated next Wednesday’s protest, in a media release Friday. About a handful of protesters stood outside of the...

WARNING! This post may contain images that will offend some viewers and is NSFW. Discretion is advised. As you probably know, the national “kiss in” day at Chick-fil-A was today. And while some branches of the store faced relative calm amidst this veritable storm of pro-gay sentiment, others weren’t so lucky. One Hollywood Chick-fil-A outlet had to call the police after it was vandalized, and in general, the whole thing appears to have been a bit of an excuse for rampant disarray. And much of that disarray has been caught on-camera, whether by the wire services, or by enterprising, courageous...

Over at Legal Insurrection, Anne Sorock of The Frontier Lab has posted video of gay rights protestors harassing and mocking an African-American "street preacher" outside a Chicago Chik-Fil-A. No one in his or her right mind thinks this kind of behavior advances anyone's cause. Even so, no one should be more alarmed by it than those in the campaign of President Obama, as they watch representatives from one key demographic constituency treat a representative of another so disrespectfully.

I am aware that we can't post pieces from HuffPost but I did find it telling , and worthy of mention, that a major gay advocate (Michelangelo Signorile) from their Gay Voices is asking if the CFA gay protest failed, why, and what can be done now. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/michelangelo-signorile/chick-fil-a-were-the-prot_b_1746382.html?utm_hp_ref=gay-voices What is interesting to me is that he attributes their failure to lack of organization, which is not quite true. The events were organized well in advance and invites posted on Facebook and Twitter - the same tactic used by Huckabee for his Aug 1 CFA Appreciation Day, which we all know...

hot make-out session. They were to blast anti-gay-marriage comments made by Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy. But gays preferred staying home to watch “The Real Housewives of New Jersey.” Tumbleweeds could have rolled through the Paramus Park Mall in New Jersey yesterday as a symbol for the lack of stamina in the national kissing campaign. From Georgia to California, protests drew yawns, not saliva. Even in Atlanta, the home of Chick-fil-A, only two dozen kissers showed up. And there was a similar lack of necking in Chicago, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and San Francisco.

A week of debate over the issue of gay marriage ended Friday with a "Kiss Off" organized by gay rights activists at Chick-fil-A restaurants. Couples sent in photos of themselves kissing at restaurants around the nation to various gay-rights websites. But the protests appeared to draw far fewer people than an event earlier this week in support of the chicken chain. Huge crowds turned out Wednesday in a show of support for company President Dan Cathy, who ignited a national debate by publicly expressing his opposition to same-sex marriage. Critics have also said the company supports causes harmful to gays...

Drama at the Chick-fil-A same sex "Kiss-In" event in Hollywood ... TMZ has learned the chicken joint called police today claiming the MEDIA was harassing its employees. Law enforcement sources tell us ... the Chick-fil-A staff wasn't bothered by the pro-gay marriage event taking place inside the restaurant, but felt the media was being too aggressive in trying to get commentary from Chick-fil-A employees. Cops responded to the scene, but by the time officers arrived ... both sides had already reached some sort of truce. In other words, they kissed and made up.

[photo at link] On a day that some gay-rights activists are planning a "National Same-Sex Kiss Day," a Chick-fil-A in Torrance was vandalized overnight with hateful graffiti. Chick-fil-A employees were greeted Fridays morning with the words "Tastes like hate" scrawled in large black lettering mimicking the chain's advertising across the back wall of the restaurant at 182nd Street and Hawthorne Boulevard in Torrance. With media helicopters hovering overhead and police officers on the scene, one employee said, "I'm just trying to sort everything out."

SPRINGFIELD, IL, August 3, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A gay rights advocacy group in Illinois has launched a series human rights complaints with Illinois state government against Chick-fil-A for supporting marriage, the day before a national homosexual “kiss-in” was planned to take place. After filing the complaint Thursday with the Illinois Department of Human Rights, Jacob Meister, Governing Board President of The Civil Rights Agenda (TCRA) said that Chick-fil-A’s stance on marriage was to blame for a widespread stigmatization of homosexual individuals. “In our current high speed media and social media environment, Chick-fil-A has announced and caused to be published,...

Los Angeles police were called to a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Hollywood on Friday amid a national "kiss day" related to the company president's opposition to gay marriage. Authorities said the call was prompted by a heavy media presence at the restaurant that was making it difficult for the business to operate. There were no problems related to protests.
