Good news! Saw on NBCs website, that they will air new episodes of 'Kings' in June. No date/time given, but it looks like they will at least air whats left of the first season. I hope this is only a hiatus, and there will be a second season, instead of just airing the rest of season 1 as "filler". The show has definitely hit a sweet spot with those who have actually tuned into it. Personally, I myself didn't watch the first run of the first episode on TV, because the way they advertised it didn't really grab me, but...

Starting today, "Kings" will play on Saturdays at 8 p.m. Moved from its regular Sunday time slot, this could be the death knell for the show. "Kings," a show set in an alternate reality where kings rule modern nations, follows the country of Gilboa as it rises to power and combats its surrounding nations. It follows the royal family, mainly King Silas, and soldier David, who rises to fame after taking down a tank. The show does not try to hide its colors. It is based on the story of David from the Bible and often, faith is a big...

A modern-day retelling of the biblical story of King David will be premiering on NBC next month as a network television series. “Kings,” created by Michael Green (“Heroes,” “Everwood”), centers on the drama surrounding David Shepherd, a young soldier in the war-torn country of Gilboa, who will rise to fame after inspiring the nation through his fearless rescue of the king’s son. Amid Shepherd's thrust toward destiny and peace for the kingdom, however, the country's power players will go to great lengths to see him fall, blurring the line between his allies and enemies. It’s “the new coming from the...

From Times OnlineOctober 8, 2007 Unearthing Rome's king Richard Owen Italian archeologists have uncovered the ruins of a 2,700 year old sanctuary which they say provides the first physical evidence of Rome at the time of Numa Pompilius, Rome’s legendary second king, in the 8th century BC. Numa Pompilius, a member of the Sabine tribe, was elected at the age of forty to succeed Romulus, the founder of Rome. He reigned from 715-673 BC, and is said by Plutarch to have been a reluctant monarch who ushered in a 40-year period of peace and stability. He was celebrated for his...

Madrid, Aug 26 (EFE).- The decline of the Maya civilization began some 1,100 year ago when millions of Indians working on the contruction of tall pyramidal temples and palaces learned that their kings weren't gods, Spanish anthropologist Andres Ciudad told EFE. The collapse of this culture with its brilliant mathematicians, astronomers and engineers, came when monarchs stopped being immortal in the eyes of their subjects, said Ciudad, who is deputy dean of the Faculty of Geography and History at Madrid's Universidad Complutense. The inhabitants of Mayan lands, which extended through much of what is now Guatemala, El Salvador, Belize, Honduras...

For two years, Troy Greene pushed ahead with a probe that authorities say ultimately crippled a violent, drug-dealing street gang on St. Paul's West Side. The St. Paul police officer saw his efforts recognized today when he won the Minnesota Peace Officer of the Year Award during a ceremony in Alexandria. Greene led a local and federal task force that landed indictments against 26 gang members and drug dealers earlier this year. The award comes from the Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association.

Mon Jun 5 09:31:01 2006 Pacific Time New Mexico's Chaco Canyon: A Place of Kings and Palaces? BOULDER, Colo., June 5 (AScribe Newswire) -- Kings living in palaces may have ruled New Mexico's Chaco Canyon a thousand years ago, causing Pueblo people to reject the brawny, top-down politics in the centuries that followed, according to a University of Colorado at Boulder archaeologist. University of Colorado Museum anthropology Curator Steve Lekson, who has studied Chaco Canyon for several decades, said one argument for royalty comes from the rich, crypt-style burials of two men discovered deep in a Chaco Canyon "great house"...

LONDON (Reuters) - World leaders -- some at political loggerheads or even officially at war -- paid their final respects to Pope John Paul on Friday, uniting by joining in the Roman Catholic Church's handshakes of peace. Israeli President Moshe Katsav said he shook hands with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Iranian President Mohammad Khatami at the Pope's Vatican funeral, but Syria later called it a formality that did not mark any change in policy. "I think it gave us a glimmer of hope that something can change in the Middle East," Israeli Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom told CNN. Syria's...

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- LeBrilliant -- except for the result. LeBron James more than lived up to his hype in the first regular-season game of his NBA career, playing like no other 18-year-old ever had in his professional debut as the Cleveland Cavaliers lost 106-92 Wednesday night to the Sacramento Kings. James had 25 points, nine assists, six rebounds and four steals, mesmerizing one of the league's loudest crowds with skills no teenager had ever displayed at this level. James' point total was by far the most by any prep-to-pro rookie since Kobe Bryant made the jump in 1996, eclipsing the...
