  • Lawmaker Andy Tobin: Do as I say, not as I do

As Speaker of the Arizona House, Andy Tobin might be expected to have at least a shred of respect for the law. Now that he’s running for Congress in Arizona’s First Congressional District such a basic consideration should be a requisite. According to the daily, Tobin faced the possibility of a foreclosure on his home nearly two decades ago due to racking up $2,000 in back taxes. That can happen. But far more egregious, he subsequently paid his property taxes late nearly 30 times between 2000 and 2014. At the time the Tobin’s owned three properties —- in Prescott and...
  • AZ CD1 candidate Gary Kiehne steps in it…again

    05/20/2014 4:03:48 PM PDT · by ObamahatesPACoal
The Arizona Daily Star reports on an apology issued by Arizona Congressional District 1 candidate Gary Kiehne after remarks he made during a GOP candidate debate. The debate also featured state Rep. Adam Kwasman. Another candidate, Andy Tobin, chose not to appear at the event, which was hosted by the Pinal County Republican Committee. Pinal County Republicans unanimously censured the left-leaning Tobin in 2012, a fact which might have effected his decision to boycott the forum. The Maricopa County Republican Executive Guidance Committee also took the previously unprecedented action against Tobin censuring him by a 23 – 5 vote. Although...

A Republican challenging Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick (D-Ariz.) apologized Monday for saying a vast majority of the perpetrators of mass shootings are Democrats. At a candidate forum on Saturday, rancher Gary Kiehne said, "If you look at all the fiascos that have occurred, 99 percent of them have been by Democrats pulling their guns out and shooting people," The Arizona Daily Star reported. "So I don't think you have a problem with the Republicans," Kiehne added, according to the paper.
