by John HillStand With Arizona “They caught the wrong Sheriff on this matter.”Those seven words should have sent the message loud and clear to the Obama administration that they are in for a tough, and potentially embarrassing fight against "America's Toughest Sheriff" Joe Arpaio. Arpaio, who has become the nation's most prominent symbol in the fight against illegal immigration, appeared on the Mike Broomhead show on KFYI in his first interview since being officially served with a suit by the Obama administration’s Justice Department. Click below for full interview... Arpaio was, predictably, entirely un-intimidated, condescendingly remarking that “it’s a political...

Conservation group analyzes legislators' votes Arizona state lawmakers have their worst scores on record when it comes to supporting legislation having to do with conservation and the environment. The Arizona League of Conservation Voters released its annual environmental scorecard, showing the voting records of legislators on 21 bills covering topics such as water and land conservation, state parks preservation, species protection, and air quality. The group says the results indicate the Arizona legislature "had the worst performance of the millenium on conservation issues and probably the worst ever," according to a news release. Steve Arnquist, executive director of the non-partisan...

Between Eric Holder, Janet Napolitano and Barack Obama, it seems no one in Washington has the time to read Arizona's new anti-illegal immigration law. Sure they have a busy schedule filled with attacks on the Grand Canyon State, but it doesn't seem like our 10-page law would take that much time. Thankfully, our friend Jim Sharpe of Phoenix radio station KFYI has decided to help out the Administration by creating an audiobook of SB1070. For their convenience he'll even email the file to them. "That way, they can listen in the back of their limousines to what the bill really...

Warning from me: This is pretty graphic and is touching at the same time. You may need tissues handy... This was read on the air by J.D. Hayworth, talk show host at KFYI in Phoenix. He received it from an officer that was just about to enter the building at Ft. Hood where the shooting happened. He wanted an accurate account out there since so far there's a lot of different accounts and they've yet to come together into 1 complete version. Here's what he sent to KFYI: First-Hand Account from Ft. Hood Monday 11-09-2009 2:57pm MT Since I don't...

A single report by KFYI radio of Phoenix, Arizona highlights a shocking claim made by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). HUD says that five million illegal aliens hold illegal mortgages. This is just one more example of the lax lending laws put into place by Democrats like Barney Frank that have contributed to this economic crisis. One would think this would be big news. But, so far we have only this one report to cover it. There have been earlier stories of home flipping schemes that made liberal use of illegal aliens as straw buyers and the...

The U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development says there is no basis to news reports that more than 5 million bad mortgages are held by illegal immigrants. A HUD spokesman said Thursday his agency has no data showing the number of illegal immigrants holding foreclosed or bad mortgages. But news reports, including one aired on KFYI-AM 550 in Phoenix, cite HUD as a source for the illegal immigrant mortgage number. The widely read “Drudge Report” posted a link to the KFYI report, but as of Thursday afternoon the link no longer connected to the story. Anti-immigration groups point to...

One illegal alien was arrested this year in Tucson after allegedly using a stolen social security number to buy two homes and rack up over $780,000 in bad debt. Some five million fraudulent home mortgages are in the hands of illegal aliens, according to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. It's not known how many of those have contributed to the subprime housing mortgage meltdown, but it has affected every state, including Arizona. The problem began years ago when banks were forced to give mortgages without confirming social security numbers or borrower identification. As a result, illegal immigrants...

How's the spring talk radio ratings picture shaping up? Quite clearly: some properly-managed conservative stations are holding up well, while others are greatly suffering, with agonizing mistakes going uncorrected. Liberal talk still isn't taking off, even if there are faint signs of life, giving leftists false hope for the format's future. Not exactly a work of art, is it?

Bruce Jacobs of KFYI has this picture on his web page. He made mention of it this morning on radio about these ACLU people doing ???? on the border while monitoring the Minuteman Project.

Day One Day One Friday April 1, 2005 I arrived in Tombstone late morning...A beautiful day though there was a cold breeze blowing...I've never been to Tombstone, but the tiny town seems a little overwhelmed with both the Minutemen and an Arizona Motorcycle Rally. The media have taken over most of the street in front of Schiefflen Hall....satellite trucks, news vehicles, photographers and reporters are gathered in front of the historic hall hoping to get access to Chris Simcox or Jim Gilchrist, the co-founders of the Minuteman Project. In just a couple hours, the hall will fill with volunteers...

A caller to that pesky medium, Talk Radio, just made an excellent point regarding Rathergate. Rather keeps claiming that the memos "could have been" created with 1972 technology but of course we all know that would have required a lino typesetter. The caller to the Liddy and Hill show on KFYI in Phoenix suggested someone, under an FOIA request, get hold of the inventory document for Killian's National Guard unit and check on the typewriters that they had issued at the time. Everything is signed for in the Armed Forces, there should be a record of the equipment available to...

Unless something changes, Charles Goyette, one of the few intellectual bulbs in the Valley's media box, will be covering light rail on his radio show (550 AM) from 8 to 9 pm tonight, with me and transit guru John Semmens as guests. The call-in number is 602-258-5394. Regards, Craig J. Cantoni Honest Americans Against Legal Theft (HAALT) The state is that great fiction by which everyone tries to live at the expense of everyone else. -- Frederic Bastiat (1801-1850)

What poor talk-radio host Charles Goyette just doesn't get is that conservative radio is mostly for ignorant White trash males. Even Lauri Cantillo admits this in her response to Goyette on the KFYI Web site.

“Imagine these startling headlines with the nation at war in the Pacific six months after Dec. 7, 1941: “No Signs of Japanese Involvement in Pearl Harbor Attack! Faulty Intelligence Cited; Wolfowitz: Mistakes Were Made.” Or how about an equally disconcerting World War II headline from the European theater: “German Army Not Found in France, Poland, Admits President; Rumsfeld: ‘Oops!’, Powell Silent; ‘Bring ’Em On,’ Says Defiant FDR.” It seems to me that when there is reason to go to war, it should be self-evident. The Secretary of State should not need to convince a skeptical world with satellite photos of...

URGENT ACTION ALERTS!!! I’m back from vacation, and leaving next week on sabbatical. I had not planned to send any updates this week, but guess what? We have two MAJOR action alerts that need your immediate attention! (1) I was stunned to discover over the weekend that KFYI not only pulled my radio commentary for last Friday, but for some reason also turned it into a news story that played in drive time Friday afternoon. We were never told the ad was being pulled. The charge made against me – that I equated homosexuals with pedophiles -- is completely false...
