To see biological males win “woman of the year” awards and others compete against women in sports, and at least one paid to promote sports bras, it’s obvious the American mind has slipped a few gears. But our current troubles are about more than celebrating what is clearly a mental illness that needs to be treated. We have lost our way almost entirely across the board. The locus of our insanity, one could argue, is Washington, D.C. The federal government developed a habit long ago of spending beyond its means. But the foolishness has reached new levels. The federal debt...

Autopsies performed on four University of Idaho students who were found dead inside a rental house near campus showed that all four were stabbed to death, the Latah County coroner said Thursday. The killings have shaken Moscow, an Idaho Panhandle college town of 25,000 residents that last saw a homicide about five years ago, according to Coroner Cathy Mabbutt. “It’s pretty tough,” Mabbutt said. The autopsies were performed in nearby Spokane County in Washington state, and the bodies were subsequently released to the victims’ families. Here is a look at what is known about the killings, and what remains a...

Investigators are exploring the possibility that more than one person is behind the brutal murders of four University of Idaho students, which have sent shockwaves through the small college town of Moscow. Four days on from the murders, the killer or killers remain at large with no arrests made and no suspects named. Moscow Police Chief James Fry admitting on Wednesday: “There is a threat out there still”. Authorities in Moscow, Idaho, have released very few details about what happened to the four University of Idaho students who were murdered last weekend. Police have cautioned the small town of 25,000...

(CNN) — House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes said Wednesday that President Donald Trump's personal communications may have been picked up by investigators through "incidental collection." • Why Is It So Hard for Employers to Fill These Jobs?

America has a deficit of workers. Willing workers. Capable workers. Skilled, or at least semi-skilled workers, who can do a job and do it well. There are at least one million jobs that go begging day after day if only employers could find workers to fill them. This probably seems hard-to-believe. After all, how can America have a worker shortage when we have about 18 million Americans who are unemployed or underemployed? When the real unemployment rate is 12 percent? Well certainly the economy isn’t creating nearly as many jobs as it should – in large part because of regulatory...

In cleaning out my deceased brother in law's things, I found a Ka-Bar with USMC stamped on it in what looks like the original sheath, WWII era. It's in pretty good shape but needs restoring. Anything I need to know as I set about the task?
  • Survival Knife Recommendation Requested (vanity)

Would like a recommendation on a "large" survival knife for my kit. I already have a couple of smaller folding survival knives, rescue tools, etc. To round out my "go bag" I'd like to replace a relatively cheap-o knife that was given to me years ago with something a little more substantial. I've been looking at the Ka Bar Becker Combat Bowie (9" blade). I like the size/shape, the steel hardness looks about right, full-tang design... Just about everything I'm looking for. Anyone have personal experience with this knife? What about a recommendation on something similar? Note, I can get...

Najaf, Iraq - A spokesperson for wanted Shi'a cleric Moqtada Sadr warned on Tuesday that his militia would attack any United States military checkpoint between Najaf and Kufa further north, saying the Americans provoked clashes on Monday that killed five Iraqis and wounded 20. "We consider any checkpoint an offensive move and as far as we are concerned there are no barriers between Kufa and Najaf," Sheikh Ahmed al-Shaibani said. He said US soldiers at a base in Najaf previously occupied by Spanish and Latin American troops provoked Monday's clashes by firing at a pickup truck transporting fighters from Sadr's...
