Welcome to the weekend, your host is here again as fingers of politicians remain firmly in the wind Joe Biden saying he loves Israel for the cameras and something else off them. Biden also trying to pretend he speaks for all Democrats on Israel.... Today's numbers in Israel 18 new positive tests with partial vaccination at 58.50 percent not moving upwards at all by the way and full vaccination at 54.98 percent... This week Russia'a Tass published a story with officiaks there seeing 'herd immunity' when vaccination reaches about 60 percent... "YoU-F-O" It was a Johnny Carson "Tonight Show" joke...

Welcome to the weekend and here we are. I am your currently sober drunk host. Day 369 Of The Dictatorship Of CPVID-19, Day 369 Of America And The World Held Hostage To Vaxx Or Not To Vaxx That Is The Question? President Trump endorsing vaccination against COVID-19 this week. Bue he kept a secret until the end of last month. Trump himself was vaccinated at the White House at the beginning of January but we only learned about it when the CPAC speech happened February 28th. One can point out that Mr. Trump needed anti-vaxx support for his political agenda...
  • 50 Years Ago: The Last Cigarette Ad Appears on Television

The end of televised cigarette ads changed everything from the entertainment industry to advertising itself. Tyler SageAt 11:50 PM on Jan. 1, 1971, the last television ad for cigarettes ran on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, signaling the end of an era and shifting the media world in ways that are still being felt today. You can see the minute-long spot below. It features Virginia Slims' controversial attempt to cash in on the women's liberation movement with the tag line "You've come a long way, baby." Tobacco has played a role in American life for almost as long as...

How much of a problem did Joe Biden have in 1987 when reporters started noticing that some of his speeches sounded a little too familiar? It reached a point where even late-night host Johnny Carson took a jab at Biden, who at the time was a U.S. senator from Delaware and running his first bid for the White House, seeking the 1988 Democratic presidential nomination. “On the political scene, one of the Democratic candidates, a Senator Joseph Biden – have you seen the problem he’s been having?” Carson asked his audience at the start of the “Tonight Show" one evening.

Hello welcome aboard as we consider the "Dictatorship of Covid 19" and some protests like the one in the key battleground political state of Michigan last Wednesday and the one planned in another key battleground political state of Pennsylvania set for Monday. They aim at the Democrats who govern the states President Trump won in 2016 and needs to win this year. But where are the protests against the Republican governors and their house arrest, shut down the economy orders in the battleground states of Florida and Ohio? Ohio's Republican Governor Mike DeWine an early imposer of house arrest and...

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Mark Rush could not name the last movie in the past 10 years that gave him a belly laugh -- or made him snort or chuckle or laugh out loud, at least for any extended period of time. "The last side-splitting movies I saw were 'Caddyshack' or 'Blazing Saddles,'" the politics and law professor at Washington and Lee College said. "That was way too long ago." Rush and I were talking over dinner at the Red Hen, a farm-to-table restaurant that made headlines earlier this year for its unfortunate decision to refuse service to White House spokeswoman...

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on June 8, 1943, as an apprentice seaman enrolled in the V-5 program, which trained Navy and Marine pilots. He hoped to train as a pilot, but was sent instead to Columbia University for midshipman training. He performed magic for classmates on the side. Commissioned an ensign late in the war, Carson was assigned to the USS Pennsylvania, a battleship on station in the Pacific. He was en route to the combat zone aboard a troopship when the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki brought the war to a close. The Pennsylvania was torpedoed on...

We pause in the  Trump! Russia! Trump! Russia!  coverage to ponder over what it is about Canada that makes it so cool. Maybe it’s the hot, metrosexual PM Justin Trudeau. Or maybe it’s his counterpoint: the toques and music of the Great White North.Cooo, loo, coo, coo, coo, coo, coo, coooo! But for the moment, everything Canadian is too cool for school. Take the hot new sport sweeping Colorado, Axe Throwing: A new sport is coming to Denver: Ax throwing. He treated political humor gingerly, making The Tonight Show something all of America could enjoy together. It was exactly 25 years ago tonight that Johnny Carson signed off for the last time as the host of The Tonight Show, ending a 30-year run on NBC. Jeff Sotzing was there. “It was an overwhelming outpouring of emotion,” said Sotzing. “We didn’t get standing ovations very often. But beginning that May we got them every night. On the final night, it lasted three minutes. It seemed like it would never end.” Sotzing is now the president of the Carson Entertainment Group and...

In a monologue considered witty by teenagers, teenagers in adult bodies and those who hate President Trump, CBS "Late Show" host Stephen Colbert said about President Trump, "The only thing your mouth is good for is being Vladimir Putin's c*** holster," and "You're turning into a real prick-tator." Witty? Not to many of us. And not just not witty but obscene, which is particularly disturbing because it was broadcast on network television, not cable television. But more than anything, it exemplified a trend in American life that one could identify without any exaggeration as the unraveling of civil society. To...

This evening watching a Johnny Carson show from 1978 on Antenna television network. It was very interesting to note the following... On his show it was shown in the 'guide' that Caitlyn Jenner was a guest on the show along with Rock Hudson. After showing the name of Caitlyn, it then showed the following info: "As himself, Bruce Jenner". An entire industry of revisionists will be required if this 'fad' should began to take on legs. If it were not laughable, the concept would be mind boggling.

Continuing to operate at full speed well past the 1:00 a.m. Eastern hour on Tuesday (10:00 p.m. Pacific), MSNBC’s Hardball host Chris Matthews attempted to analyze Donald Trump’s victory speech after winning the Nevada caucuses by comparing his interaction with supporters to the late Johnny Carson’s relationship with Tonight Show viewers.  Matthews repeatedly claimed that his supporters recognize much of what Trump tells them is “nonsense” and “all shtick” and he “shar[es] with the audience” in the way that “Carson used to do that, Letterman did that” because “[i]t was always the jokes you share” plus “[t]he connection with the...

Just when it seemed the late-night landscape couldn’t get more competitive, here comes Johnny Carson. Tribune Media’s Antenna TV, the multicast digital channel devoted to vintage television shows, will run full-length episodes of “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson” nightly at 11 p.m. ET/8 p.m. PT starting Jan. 1. Antenna TV has struck a multi-year deal with Carson Entertainment Group to license hundreds of hours of the NBC late-night institution. Antenna will run episodes that aired from 1972 through the end of Carson’s 30-year reign in in 1992. Because NBC owns the rights to “The Tonight Show” moniker, Antenna TV’s...
